The good: Fastest desktop CPU on the market; unlocked clock multiplier makes overclocking possible out of the box.
The bad: Chipset politics between Intel and graphics card vendors hurts gamers who now have to pick an Intel board for ATI's Crossfire or an Nvidia board for SLI cards.
The bottom line: AMD's Athlon 64 FX line has worn the desktop CPU performance crown for over a year. The king is dead. Intel's new flagship Core 2 Extreme X6800 not only hands AMD a defeat on all of our benchmarks, but it's also a more efficient, better designed chip overall.

The new king processor for desktops!

Pros: Beats AMD athlon 64 x2, and uses less wattage than pentium extreme edition and pentium d.
Cons: More expensive than Intel dual-core XEON 5160 (65 nm Intel Core Microarchitecture) which is faster than x6800.

Summary: I bought a dell precision with this processor. It performs excellent. I'd compare this processor to amd athlon 64 x2 and I'm amazed by the results. There was no doubt that it can outperform amd. I compared this also to Dual-core xeon 5160 (65nm intel core microarchitecture). Xeon is the winner. I've heard that xeon defeated the opteron. Xeon has 1333mhz front side bus, but the x6800 has 1066 fsb. The prize of x6800 is around $1400 ,and the Xeon is $1000. I hate the prize of x6800. I want the prize to be around $800. That's why I rated this 9/10.

Pros: very fast, performace and in smoothness
Cons: not ment for too much over clocking.
