Pros: 1. Immense, bright picture 2. Improved sound bar, but really need a separate home theatre system 3. Lots of controls 4. Relatively light, although well-constructed 5. Connect easily to components 6. Huge complement of connections, back and side
Cons: 1. DLP's have a ?hot spot?. All TVs have drawbacks, this is DLP's. But it really is inconsequential.

Summary: I have a moderate knowledge of home theater systems. Was torn between this 73? and the Panasonic S2 series. The S2 is the lowest model in that line-up whereas the 838's are the premium Mitsubishis. I am not unhappy with the choice. The picture is spectacular, from the crappiest 480 to the staggering HD blu-ray image. Even black and white (Turner Classic Movies HD) is a revelation. With a moderate surround system, it is all one could want from a modern television set. A programmable remote (like a Harmony) is a must, because the options are almost limitless. I would urge people to invest in a 3 year warranty. The technology is delicate and there are things which can go wrong. I use a Pioneer a/v receiver as the hub of the system and I have a 5.1 sound system using JBL and Polk speakers. A Panasonic BD 65 and a Pioneer 300 cd carousel are attached. Oh yes, and I did add a UPS power supply to protect the air cooled optics in case of a power failure. Net services are a little trickier than advertised. A wireless connection seems to be endlessly buffering. I plan to try to hard wire the net from my router to the system. My background is in motion pictures. Sitting about ten feet from this beauty is the closest experience I can imagine to being in the sweet spot of a large movie theatre. It is overwhelming.
