It's just pure fun
by lifendz on January 5, 2006

Summary: I did not want to get this game. I hate racing games. A co-worker picked it up and after playing a race I said it was fun. Then when I played a race seeking to crash every other car I said this has potential. Crash mode sealed the deal. I ran out to find it but unfortunately it was sold out. I had to wait to pick this little gem up. I'm telling you...if you have PSP pick up Burnout legends. It'll get you through any flight, trip to the b room or just tide you over until PS3.

Best Racing Game

Summary: I have played this game for a few weeks now and have determined that it is, as of now, the best racing game out there. The racing games that were available at launch were awesome, but lacking. Need for Speed had a few cars, but the graphic in my opinion, left something to be desired, mainly better graphics. However, in the mater of months between then and now, the EVIL ASSOCIATION or EA as it has come to be known as, has managed to make a really good transfer of a console game to a portable medium. The game is derived from previous Burnouts. I have only played burnout 3, so that’s all I can compare it to. The fact is it's a clean, streamlined version of those games. The load times are good, the tracks don't appear to be neglected, and the sense of speed that it achieved is mind blowing. The game play is not too challenging, but the AI puts up decent fight. The tracks are wonderfully designed and laid out. The physics of the cars can be unreal sometimes. For example, how you can slide around a corner at 118, which is not to say that you give any thought to the authentic of when you nudge an opponent into oncoming traffic. When you see the hood of coupe collide with a jersey barrier, there is no greater satisfaction. The particles that fly off that car are amazing. And if you don’t believe that the graphics have the capabilities to be amazing look and the launch titles for the PS2 and the games coming out now, X Squad? Gross. To end, the game is pulling no punches and will leave you on the edge of the doctor's office chair or the backseat of Spanish friend’s car.

Summary: This game is unbelievable, and easily one of the best game out for the psp, probably the best racing game. I was never a big burnout fan, but after playing this, wow! I can't believe i was never a burnout fan. This game is simply amazing. It has unbelievable graphics, great gamplay, and will take you a long time to beat. There are many different games you can play from intense high speed racing to creating the best crashes in many different scenarios. The music is also fantastic. If your thinking about a psp game to get, go with this game 100%.

Smash up derby
by LS650 on October 17, 2007

Summary: When I was a kid, my brothers and I had some Smash Up Derby cars. You'd put a T-shaped strip into the cars, put the strips out and spin up the gyroscopic wheels, then let the cars race at each other. The cars would collide, sending plastic doors and wheels flying everywhere. It was great fun.
BURNOUT is a racing game overall, but it has spectacular slow-motion crashes that remind me of those cars. I love this game. Beautiful graphics, fun and challenging racing, and great tunes on the sound track.
I also own Asphalt 2, a similar style of racing smash-up. Sorry Asphalt, but you're a pale imitation of Burnout.
The only real caveat is the long load time. Every time you run a race, even repeating a race you've just done, you have to wait maybe 30 seconds or so for the track to load (or reload!). It's a real pain; you spend a lot of time sitting and watching the load screens... -
