Summary: There's not much I can actually add apart from what the Editor's Review already covered. However, I would like to emphasize more on how Gods Eater Burst focuses on the things Monster Hunter did not.
The truth is both games can really compliment each other when seen in that light (at least, that's my opinion). Don't roll your eyes when people say that if there's one thing God Eater had that Monster Hunter didn't, it's a story. Sure there might be plenty of heated debates on the quality of God Eater's storyline. However, at least it HAD a story. There's a beginning, there's a middle, and there's an end.
Make no mistake, I love playing Monster Hunter. However, I just cannot deny that it barely has anything you'd call a plot. You just hunt very well-designed, fantasy-style monsters while getting a wider selection of prey with each kill, make equally stylish armor/weapons from their body-parts, and watch as your current village progresses along with you.
Now of course the style and graphics is actually what makes MH better than God Eater. However, going back to the story, I myself found it easier to put myself inside my character because of God Eater's emphasis on it. Heck, at the risk of giving out spoilers, your character actually talks in a scene at some point (it's only one scene, but boy is it dramatic). The graphics, despite not being up to Monster Hunter, are still in a league of their own. Whereas the supporting characters of MH are actually just tip bots, the main cast of GE actually have some personality (archetypical they may be). (Oh and at this point, I will say that Alisa is hotter than any MH guild gal.)
In fact, when you compare the GE Aragami with the MH monsters, it makes for a very beautiful contrast. It's the same with the setting.
On one hand, you have monsters that look like they leaped out of a fantasy book. On the other hand you have monsters that wouldn't look out of place in a apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic anime (e.g. Evangelion).
In MH, you are a noble hunter, traversing a rich world filled with breathtaking environments. IN GE, you're one of the last remnants of mankind, kicking beastie butt for a living, and taking the whole street delinquent thing to a new level of awesomeness.
