Summary: It's overall a good game with a couple downfalls. One, the story mode is short, sure there's all those missions you can do from answering phones and stuff, but the main story is short. Second, the lag. You change the radio station and the game freezes for a second sometimes, or you jump out of a car into a battle and freezes. The short freezes are very annoying and common.

Most Ambitious Portable Game Ever
by Soulquarian on October 31, 2005
Pros: Full 3-D world, Custom Soundtracks, 80 - 120 hours of gameplay, crisp graphics, Multiplayer, short load times
Cons: Targeting system, Custom Soundtracks is cumbersome, no infrastructure in multiplayer

Summary: Easily the most fun I've had in a PSP game. Everything that you know and love (or hate) about the GTA series is in this portable outing. All the humor, violence, and amusing characters are back.
The detail of the enviornments is amazing. Even the wheels of the cars look more 3-D rather than texture mapped. Reflective surfaces is also a plus.
The radio stations are just as funny as ever, even though they tend to loop sooner than the console versions. Gameplay is perfect for 10 min. skirmishes while taking a work break or passing time between classes.

The PSP shines with LCS
by SRKaye on October 1, 2006

Summary: It's a little hard to believe that I am playing GTA on such a portable device. Portable gaming has come a long way. I haven't played it too much, so I haven't seen anything that I could say that's wrong with the game. I just hope it gives me many hours of entertainment. If I beat it too soon then I will change my rating.

SPECTACULAR..Best PSP game by far...KILLER APP for sure!
by WhirlyWill on October 29, 2005
Pros: Better graphics than GTAIII, framerate, loading times, and battery life are just amazing for a game this size.I Love the new feature that allows for you to put your own songs on the radio.
Cons: Not AS much freedom.. but pretty dam close.(No airplanes, boats, cant swim)
Summary: This game is just amazing, the driving is more realistic than in any other GTA game (but not too realistic).

I think the Gamespot review wasnt very good of this game, as they didnt mention the awesome music feature, a first in a GTA game. I also thought the framerate was excellent for the circumstances, and never noticed any large drop off. A more adequate review is IGN.com's. Less partial. This game can carry the PSP for sure, even though SOCOM is comin out too. Its a good time to be a PSP owner. -

I got this game today, and have to say. This is the best game on PSP. The graphics are outstanding, the playiblity is great. The sounds are great. It has cheats already. And it's just fun.. If you are a GTA Fan then you must get this game. NOW!!!
The only thing that shocked me, was when I first loaded the game it says "You have to update to version 2.00 in order to start this game".. I was like no.. but then I saw that it had a "Update" Icon so I updated it and it told me that I have to connect the AC apater in order for go on with the update so i did.. and it worked good. Now the load times are kinda slow.. but this is expected with a handheld system. And the fact that it can only do 32FPM it does stop from time to time (for about 3 to 5 secs).. nothing to bad.
All and all this game is one great game. The best in my opinion
Eventhough I have a few "Cons" i still give this game a perfect 10!!! -
Same fun as in other games, awesome multiplayer modes, and just an all around good experience
by BryanLaz on October 27, 2005
Pros: Graphics are stunning for PSP, sound quality is top notch, along with voice acting - custom soundtracks and multiplayer modes
Cons: Soundtrack is short; minor slowdown when radio changing
