Pros: Small and light weight, easy to use controls, great reception.
Cons: Back clip could be better designed, does not hold that good.

Summary: This is a great protable radio. I use mine when I run and working outside. I live about 30 miles from a large city and have no problems with reception. This radio is so light that I don't even know I have it on when I run. Then only gripe is that the belt clip is a little weak. I'm afraid it is going to come off my shorts when I run and fall to the ground. An arm band holder would be great.
Summary: this just doesnt do what a radio should do, which is receive signals.
In the fm band the reception was poor, and in several areas, it was only possible to receive most of the very strong stations. With the dx switch on, the reception became more fuzzy. The quality of recpetion did not improve.
In the am band, it ws not possible to receive any clear signal.
Head to head against my $15 radio from Sangean, which receives every fm station possible, even in limiting conditions, this radio did not hold its own.

Summary: I am very disappointed with this radio-especially for the money. FM is particularly bad with the sound quality breaking up as I walk, in the car, and moving around the house. AM is better, but in all situations is likely to fade in and out.
Summary: When bought as a refurb from Sony this is one hell of a deal but to pay $140. for a new one is a bit hard to justify. Still it is clearly an upscale product and likely the very best of it's type. An excellent interface and nice chrome touches compliment its remarkable performance!
Summary: I've had this little radio for nearly two years now.
Very good sound quality when medium to good signal strength is available. Switchable FM sensitivity (local / DX) helps in situations where signal strength is both very high and very low. Good AM stage for its size. Very easy to use once set up, but it takes a bit of practice to get used to station memory setting process. Requires resetting of stations etc when battery is removed.
Effective "on / off" lock and timed "auto-off" function comes in very handy with a pocket radio. Nice strong pocket clip. Long battery life. Sounds very good when connected to a pair of powered minispeakers (it has no built in speaker). Also useful for recording radio directly to computer, or playing through your computer's own sound section, but needs careful location to avoid interference for this purpose.
I've been carting mine around Australia and it has happily survived bouncing around in 4 wheel drives, jostling against other things in my pocket, football matches, camping, the occasional drop, etc with nothing more than some cosmetic surface scratching.
Very happy with mine. Makes an excellent gift, too. (My daughter has put in a request for one for her next birthday)
