  Cooling is good as is the icemaker but incredibly noisy

  Pros: Very good temperature control with no cold or hot spots. Good icemaker. The layout and shelf sizes are excellent. Seems very energy efficient. Easy to roll the unit in and out for cleaning underneath. Price at Lowe's was very reasonable on sale.

  Cons: Quite noisy on a normal routine of ice making and compressor running. What's really bad is an extremely loud sharp kerchunk noise that happens at random times three or four times a day. Can hear it out at the far corner of the back yard.

  Summary: It's the unit you learn to establish a love/hate relationship with. Lots of nice features and excellent cooling/freezing and the frost free function is very good. The "routine" noise is a big detraction and the extremely loud metallic clank that hits three or four times a day is very annoying. The Samsung service phone call in is responsive and the "independent" technician that came out to fix the noise problem, all seemed to have a good, helpful attitude but couldn't find or fix the noise problem. The unit will end up out in the garage with glued on soundboard siding and be used as an additional freezer and overflow frig. The noise problems were there from the start but just couldn't be fixed and I let the thing go off waranty without demanding a lemon-law replacement. I wouldn't recommend a Samsung appliance, even with an attractive "marketing" sale price.
