  Breaks Easily for a $150 remote

  Pros: Can program tv, satellite, dvr and dvd player to turn on all at once.

  Cons: Breaks easily. I exchanged it once already and now the lcd screen is unreadable. I got this at circuit city and now have to ship it back to them so they can tell me they can't give me a refund.

  Summary: Lots of programmable options but won't last. Breaks easily. Should be made tough like my free DirecTV remote.

  Simple to set up, impossible to live without

  Activity based
  easy to map new functions to any button
  powerful IR emitter
  good button layout for DVR junkies
  backlit

  Cons: a bit too small
  buttons all the same shape
  buttons too close to each other
  buttons occasionally stick
  Software only works with one Harmony remote

  Summary: Overall, a great remote. All the benefits of a Harmony, without the high price. This controls all of my home theater gear, and yet is easy enough the whole family can use everything, even my 6 year old. Easy to set up, almost unlimited ability to customize. I've run the software on both XP and Vista with no issues at all. We actually have two Harmony remotes, we like them so much. But, unfortunately, the software only remembers settings for one remote, it would be nice to create multiple profiles for those with more than one harmony remote. instead, we need to run a copy of the software on two different computers, each with a unique account.

  Summary: Have only owned for a day, am annoyed at people writing crap like battery dies cause LCD stays on, push the "glow" button. The software is not that bad either, it allows you to set enough options, and to tailor your own button assignment- this is good. Connects and updates easily, and has good device compatibility I think, picked up my esoteric TV, and an old discontinued Marantz CD/MD player. I am happy, Logitech are very good at what they do, esp. for the money.

  Great all around TRUE UNIVERSAL remote!

  Summary: I got this remote since all the universal remotes out there didn't work on my Maxent plasma tv. I was pleasantly surprised at its capabilities. I liked the Activities buttons, pressing "watch tv" turns on and switches all your AV gear to the correct inputs! Same for listening to music, which I setup to launch Front Row and switch to DVI so I can watch or listen to my media
  
  The cons were
  
  1-I had some difficulty setting this remote up to control Front Row on my Mac.
  
  2-There is no dedicated launch Media Center PC/Front Row button, but there are launch music(for AM/FM/XM), launch digital music (for XP Media Center/Mac Front Row), and game console control options. Also, I couldn't get it to launch Quicktime/DVD Player, or itunes under the "watch movies" activity button, Front Row is the only app I could get to work.
  
  3-The device controls could have been a little more intuitive. I am used to using a DirecTV/Tivo universal remote. The movie controls are not logically spaced out or large enough
  
  4-The glow button should stay lit. I liked that feature, but fumbling for the right button while watching tv or a movie is annoying
  
  Below are my home system specs. Yes I am using a VCR to control watching basic cable, since my tv doesn't have coax inputs, and I haven't decided on an HDTV provider yet.

  Summary: This is my first foray into high end remotes. I had never spent more than $25 on a universal, and I never had a remote that would actually let me throw all the old ones in a box. Both those streaks are over.
  
  It took me about 20-25 minutes to set up the remote using the software/usb combo. As soon as I was done, everything worked. I mean, everything. Even my Westinghouse HDTV, whose remote reception was notoriously bad works with this baby.
  
  Later, I went back in and programmed my bedroom set-up as well. The "Activities" function is really sweet. It let me set up separate activities for watching through my receiver (when I'm not worried about waking the neighbors) and through the TV (for when I am).
  
  The buttons all do what you expect them to do, and for the functions not specifically listed, you can simply scroll down the LCD and you'll find what you want. This is the first universal to adequately function with my home theatre tuner.
  
  And if that all weren't enough, it even runs my fan.

  Summary: The Harmony remote is up there with Tivo and iPod as one of the finest examples of human interface design. If you have a regular Home theater setup, with any combination of audio receiver, TV, VHS, DVD player and CD Player, then the simple setup will get you up and running in just a few minutes. If you have more advanced devices, like a Media Center or an XBox, then you will have to tweak a bit (look at "Customize Buttons" option in the Activity Setup screens of the PC software). But even then, the software walks through an amazing array of flexibility and options without losing you along the way.
  
  Once you have everything setup, the reemote itself is a joy to use: The buttons are laid out where you would expect them; it balances well in your hand, and the inline HELP is pretty useful too.
  
  One thing I would like to see: Separation of the nav-pad directional controls and the play/pause/rewind controls into two separate areas, like the Tivo remote. Admittedly I am biased because I already have a Tivo, but I think the tivo remote is very well designed ergonomically, and should be imitated more. That said, the present arrangement on the Harmony remote is also very usable.
  
  If you had enough with being the only person in the house who knows how to operate your gear, then this usability marvel is for you and your household.

  Summary: I've wanted to write a review for this remote control since I got it a month ago, but I wanted to make sure that what I was saying was true.
  
  At this point, I have the remote doing around 95% of the things I need it to do. I still have lots of tweaking that I can do, such as ordering the soft keys better for common tasks. But in all, I am very pleased with this remote.
  
  As stated, I have it doing just about everything I need it to do. I have set up several activities, and it is changing flawlessly between each one of them. It is working with the following equipment:
  Samsung DLP TV (which does not support discrete input selection, but rather uses a scroll menu to select the input)
  Pioneer DVD/Receiver (it has three input buttons which each have a few different inputs)
  Motorola HDTV cable box
  Panasonic VCR
  
  I have the remote set up to listen to the digital music stations from my cable company through the DVD/Receiver and it even changes to the first music channel and then displays the music channel list.
  
  There are a few trouble spots which needed work arounds - since the DVD player has the various input buttons, I had to figure out the correct way to change from watching a DVD to going to the digital sound input without it going to the wrong input (one button switches DVD and CD, another switches between the digital sound input, a standard TV sound input, and the AUX input from the VCR). It took a bit of doing, but I figured out a way to make it work, and without even needing to contact Logitech support.
  
  In all, I am extremely happy with this remote. It is truly flexible, but that doesn't come without a price. Some will complain that the web based interface is difficult to use, but that is what allows the user to do all of the intricate setup that they want to do. If you are gadget guy like me and don't mind making minor tweaks to get something to do exactly what you want it to do, then you will love this universal remote. Even if you don't want to do full tweaks, setting up the macros to go from one activity to another isn't that difficult and certainly worth the few hours worth of time (yes, setup can take a few hours over a few nights, but if you have a laptop, set up is that much easier to do on the couch). I truly can put all of my other remotes away and use this one, even for advanced features like changing the 5.1 surround setup options on my receiver and programming recording through the VCR and doing all the picture in picture stuff I want to do with the TV. They make it so easy to even use equipment that is not used for a particular activity through the <device> button, (just be sure to program a soft <on> button), and the <sound> and <picture> buttons add even more customizable opportunities.
  
  My only wish is that my wife got the one with the color screen and the RF support incase we ever get equipment that doesn't use IR remotes...other than that, I skeptical at first, but now I'm an absolute believer that one remote really can do the work of the original four (five if you include my Bose iPod Sound Dock).
