The good: Better shape than previous Harmony remotes; strong backlight; choice between device or activity usage; intuitive, Web-based programming.
The bad: No rechargeable battery option; numeric keypad buttons are too small and grouped too closely together; Web interface might intimidate nontechie users.
The bottom line: A sleek design, an impressive feature set, and a manageable price tag make the Logitech Harmony Advanced Universal Remote an excellent choice for Xbox 360 owners.

Summary: It wasn't until it went missing at a party a couple of weeks ago that I realized how great this thing was. The setup was simple: you upload the software on your computer, plug it in to a usb port, and answer the questions it asks. It gives you what it thinks are the best ways to control your devices, but there were bugs when I first tried it. I had it set to work with my Xbox 360, my HDTV, my Digital HD/DVR box, my stereo with dvd player, and my Bose wave radio. After I worked out all of the bugs (you connect it back to your computer, and you can customize each button if the initial suggestions don't work, or if there are major functions missing), it worked great. It didn't initially give me a function on the main screen to open the DVR's main window, and some other DVR functions were off, but they were easy to fix. Really easy. ANYBODY could do it.
What makes this remote the only remote you'll ever, ever, ever, ever need:
It has an "activities" button at the top where you have things like, "play Xbox 360," or "watch PVR (same as DVR)," or "play Wii." I have my DVR plugged in to my stereo through a digital optical cable, so when I watch TV, I have to manually turn on the stereo, put my TV in the right input, make sure the stereo has the right input, and turn everything else off. One button does all of that for me with this remote. The volume button then controls the volume for the Stereo, not the TV. My Wii is plugged directly into the TV for sound, so when I push "Play Wii," it turns off the stereo, puts the TV on the right input, and controls the volume on the TV. It really works beautifully. What amazes me is that it knows about the lag time of your devices. When initially turning on my TV, it takes about 30 seconds before you can control the volume, change the channels, etc. So it waits 30 seconds before switching inputs. It also waits for the stereo lag when initially starting up. You just push the button, set it down (aimed at your devices), and let it do its thing. To turn everything off, you push the power button at the top left corner, and it turns everything off. If it misses something (maybe the was an obstruction), it can be corrected in the "did everything turn on correctly" section. You just hit "no," then it will ask you a series of questions, and it will correct whatever the problem is right then and there.
The only real problem I have with this device is the lag time on my DVR and the fact that I can't control my Wii with it. However, the latter isn't much of a problem because the Wii controls are wireless, and you would want to use them when controlling the Wii anyhow. The lag thing bugs, and that's why I didn't give it a 10.
Oh, and if you were one of those strangers at my house on St. Patricks day, I know you took it! Give it back! I don't want to have to drop another $100 for this thing, but I will, because it's that awesome. -

I really like replacing the 5 remotes that I previously had, so I do still use this as my only remote. The activities work on the most basic level. However, with the devices that I have, and the preferences that I want to setup, this remote just doesn't deliver the functions I'm sure the it is capable of.
It's not the remote, but the software that limits the user from having COMPLETE control over the macros and when they happen. I was quite suprised at how poorly the user interface for programing the remote was. After spending about 20 hours or so toying with the remote and different configs, I definately hit a brick wall with what the software allows the user to do.
The remote has a built in help system, that seems to work, but I found that the help system doesn't actually fix the problems on the remote, it just rights them once. I would continue to have to use the help feature each time I powered on an activity, which makes the help feature seem pointless, when you can just control each device seperatley anyway.
If you are a power user who is going to want to tweak specific settings, don't buy this remote or you will ultimately be dissapointed. -

I have a Toshiba Plasma, a Harmon Kardon A/V receiver, Scientific Atlanta Explorer settop box, a Sony 5 disk upscaling DVD player, a Xbox 360, and a MCE 2005 PC to control - Thats 6 functions and 5 remotes the Harmony took over for.
Setting it up was totally easy, modifying the running config was just as simple. I'm impressed. It controls my hardware perfectly! If anyone thinks this remote is complicated, they should take a look at the ones that came with my cable box or reciever. The best part is that I can use it to control my MCE 2005 box via the 360!
I've read a bunch of reviews here and I have to say it's a pleasure learning that there are people in the world who are picker than me! =) Sure; there are things that could be better about the remote, but nothing that would interfere with the enjoyment of the things I bought it to control. I will save my obsessing for the picture quality of my TV. -

Summary: Great little remote. I love the look and glow. It powers every component easily, and as I get new components it gives me full compatibility. I got the remote, set it up just how I liked it and about a week later got Comcast OnDemand with a new cable box. I plugged in the remote, went through the software, added the new component, and within 5 min I was back on the couch controlling the cable box with this remote. It looks great and clears off my end table nicely. No need for all 4 remotes that I had before, this is all I need. My wife loves it, too, and loves the fact that if she wants to watch a dvd, all she has to do is push one button and the TV turns on, goes to the correct input, turns on the reciever and puts it to the correct input, turns on the XBox 360 and even opens the drive door. SO SIMPLE!
The only problem I've run into is that occasionally when going from one activity to another, the TV inputs don't switch as their supposed to. It's rare that this happens, and is rather sporratic, so I can't figure out to fix the problem. Because I know what's going on I can fix it easily, but my wife can't figure it out and has to call me in from the other room to help her fix it.
I love the customization that's avalible and I couldn't be happier with this remote. It's my first ever universal remote, and it will be used for years to come. After discounts from Buy.com and using Google checkout, I got it for only $80! A steal! You will love this remote. -

This one mastered every function minus one on my home theater (Dell plasma, 360, cable box, Onkyo receiver). The one command it didn't learn was easily programmed using the built-in IR receiver on the bottom.
I say nuts to those people who think the buttons are not ergonomically designed. True, the volume and the channel buttons are smaller than they should be. True, the number buttons are a little small, but they are mostly comfortably functional.
One thing I did agree with, though, is the rubber USB port cap on the top. What a failure! The thing won't close, and I am worried it would look hideous if I cut it off. It flaps around annoyingly like a hang nail.
The "difficult to master advanced functions" can easily be seen in other reviews of this remote. Almost every complaint other people have (besides ergonomics) can be solved in the software:
Case-in-point, I was so annoyed by the click delay when I wanted to change channels/inputs/etc. After some messing around, I found that there was a menu where you can reduce the delay (it is defaulted conservatively high to avoid malfunctions).
Summary: FINALLY a fully-functional remote that controls everything. No need to keep the other remotes around "just-in-case". Some ergonomic improvements desirable, but not necessary. We are very pleased with this purchase, and would recommend it to anyone with a 360 (especially if you plan to use the new media download capability of XBox Live).Updated
After having used this remote for several months, I really need to update my score to a 9.0! This remote truly is awesome. It's easy to use & the USB computer-based setup is a breeze. After correctly tweaking the settings, I literally NEVER have to use any of my old remotes.
The only reason it doesn't get a 10 is that some of my less tech-savvy friends are overwhelmed by it. I think if they figured it out, they'd love it but apparently the learning curve is less flat for some of us than others.
As someone who uses the XBox to play movies (I have the HD addon & download movies regularly), this is the perfect add-on. I hope MS paid Logitech a lot of money to come out with this controller because it sure makes renting movies on XBox Live way too easy! -

Summary: I purchased this remote to use in my office with several components and an Xbox 360. A few of months later, I added an Xbox 360 to my family room as a media extender and HD-DVD player. Not wanting to go through complicated setup process required to program my Pronto remote (old original green unit w/b&w screen) in the family room, I decided to try the harmony remote. The only problem I encountered was that the unit only supports 1 Tivo in a room at a time (specifically set to remote address 1). End the end, I ended up with this unit and one additional Tivo remote controlling Tivos 2 and 3.
Beyond the Tivo short-coming, this remotes works well in my family room. It controls my Tivo, Receiver, TV, Xbox, Sony DVD changer, Sub-woofer, etc. with no problems. I recommend it! -

Summary: a friend had the 550 and after using wanted one badly. found that getting the xbox360 and this remote saved $30. works my tv, cable stb/dvr, and bose lifestyle system with one remote. the ability to press two buttons to watch a dvd. the activity feature is awsome. other reviews have stated the setup process can be a little cumbersome. i too found this to be true. the cd had me update my software to a new version. this version gave me nothing but errors. going to the logitech site i found newer software but it was listed with the 800 series. it works nevertheless and detects the remote. was able to add all my av stuff and update the remote. i will buy the 550 for my bedroom setup. the xbox 360 theme just doesnt work all around the house.

Summary: The Harmony 360 remote is a must have if you use your XBOX 360 as the center of your digital media universe as I do. Just as the XBOX 360 has replaced all of my media components, the Harmony 350 has replaced all of my remotes. The remote is highly customizable, has an easy to use interface, wonderful backlighting, and most importantly works as promised. The setup wizard makes programming the remote really simple. I do find that the number keys are somewhat cramped but then again I have the hands of a gorilla with elephantitis and a rechargeable battery would have been a most welcomed plus. Some of my friends and family members are intimidated by the remote but in my opinion, if the phrases "Watch TV" and "Play XBOX 360" frighten you, then I really do not want you jacking around with my goodies. Hands off mom! From my very first webcam, to numerous peripherals, to the Harmony 360, Logitech continues to secure a place in my heart.
