Logitech Wireless DJ Music System price range: $129.99

The good: The Logitech Wireless DJ Music System streams audio--including copy-protected DRM music and Internet radio--from your PC to your home stereo. The system is controlled from a handheld remote with a built-in display and an iPod-like scrollwheel that lets you view and navigate your music collection. The system utilizes a USB transmitter that hooks to your PC, along with a receiver, which doubles as a recharging station for the remote, so it doesn't need a wireless network.
The bad: The scrollwheel isn't quite as responsive the iPod's, and the wireless range--while decent--is less than advertised. The PC Control mode allows for maximum file compatibility but disables the remote's ability to browse when activated.
The bottom line: The Logitech Wireless DJ Music System lets you access your PC's digital music collection from the palm of your hand.

Worth every penny!!!!

Pros: solid constuction, no wifi required, streams internet radio, easy set up
Cons: does not work with Vista, internet radio function won't work with Media Player 11, PC must remain on for this to work

Summary: This is hands down, one of the most impressive products I've bought from Logitech. For those of your out there on a tight budget but still wanting to wirelessly stream music to your living room, then forget the Sonos music systems and get yourself one of these. This wireless music system does the same job at a fraction of the cost.
As a word of warning, if you're using Windows Vista, please avoid this product. Even though Logitech has "vista drivers" on the website, it will not work properly. With Vista, the drivers don't install properly and you'll never get the components to "see" each other. Once I installed XP, installation was a snap and I was up and running in about 10 minutes.
This is a gorgeous system with it's brushed aluminum (I think) casing and vivid remote display. Music browsing is a snap as the system uses alphanumeric search so you can search alphabetically. You can browse your entire music library from your couch using just the remote. The scrollwheel is fast and responsive (sorta like an ipod). Playback response times are typically fast as well but I've experienced brief delays from time to time. The system does not use wifi to make it work (unlike sonos) so there's no additional strain on your existing wifi network.
On the downside, if you plan on using the internet radio feature, you'd better not plan on upgrading to Windows Media Player 11; it just won't work properly. As I mentioned before, don't even go there if you've got Vista. Lastly, your computer system must be up and running for this system to work (not a problem for me as I never shut down my PC).
All in all a great wireless music solution with excellent features at an unbeatable price. -
Nice Music Library Solution

Choosing items off of the menu is sometimes slow since the highlighted item on the menu often responds in a slight delay to your scrolling.
I'm also very happy with Logitech's support. Since owning the DJ (purchased in Dec '06), they have made software improvements that made the interface much better. Also, when my remote's screen suddenly stopped working, Logitech backed their 2 year warranty and replaced it promptly without any shipping costs.
Overall, it was at a good price point for the solution that I wanted for transferring my digital music to my stereo. -
Great hardware design; still buggy, though

Summary: I'm not ready to give up on my Wireless DJ, but I'm not sure it was ready for prime-time. If you visit the Logitech forums you will hear from a lot of users (including me) that there are intermittent playback dropouts for which, so far, there does not seem to be a fix. There is a new version of the Streampoint software in beta (didn't fix my dropouts), and Logitech has said it's working on yet another release. Hopefully they will continue to work on this problem.
Logitech claims (after the fact) that a wireless network can interfere with the device. Since so many users have invested in wireless routers (mine for TiVo, printer, *Logitech* speakers), I don't think it's acceptable to release and market the product without a fix for this issue. I am also unconvinced that wireless network conflict is the beginning and end of the problem.
Looks great, and when it's working, it's a wonderful thing. I hope they can resolve the dropouts.Updated
I have been told by Logitech (forum support) that the Wireless DJ is incompatible with my Logitech wireless speakers; this is likely causing the dropouts. Logitech phone support has told me to uninstall/reinstall the firmware; I am going to try this, but I don't have high hopes. Very disappointing.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
