Works well as an access point!
by Justin-Lee on March 28, 2013
Pros: + Works well with a very good signal
+ Very easy to install, easy configuration
+ Well built and good options.
+ Cheap priceCons: - Does not function well for heavy users (users that stream video, while online gaming and skyping at the same time)

First impressions: Slightly disappointed at first as a sticker on the box said it was for cable and BT Affinity only. I am on BE/O2 but I thought I would give it a try.
In the box you get the router, power adaptor (annoyingly the plug is longer than normal so doesn't fit nicely in a power blick) and a cable to connect to the phone line. Bit surprised there was no network cable to connect the box to a PC (or in my case my existing router). Don't make the mistake I made when half asleep and put the phone line cable in to your other router - took a little while to realise I had done it!
Set up: the instructions tell you to connect the router, power on and put in the software. I had the Belkin N150 connected to my O2 router, my PC was also attached to the O2 router. The CD started the installation but the router couldn't be found. Typing "router" in to Chrome showed nothing. I was ready to accept defeat.
Then I had a brainwave of connecting the PC to the Belkin and the Belkin to the O2 box (which was in turn connected to the phone line). Voila, the PC could now see the router and I could make any changes necessary. One point to note is the instruction show the SSID and password on the side of the router, they are actually on a piece of card in the box. Handily the card can be slipped under the router. The lights on the box are unobtrusive at the top of the unit, amber if things are not working, blue when you get connected to the internet (which gave a very warm glow the first time I saw it).
What I wanted was to use the Belkin N150 as an-add on to my existing network, ie a get a stronger strength. What I now have is an additional network (Belkin shows up on the network list now). The plus side is that this is slightly stronger upstairs than my existing network, so that is a plus. Also I can't get the Belkin N150 to talk to my router wirelessly, I have to connect the 2 with a cable. Maybe there is a way to do this, I will keep trying.
There are plenty of settings you can adjust on the router in terms of security and network management. These were beyond my capabilities but they look very comprehensive.
If you will buy this Router, I suggest check for best deal at: www.routerreviewsbuy.com/buy-belkin-n150/
Overall a fairly cheap router, well built and good options.5 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Had difficulty, but ultimately works well
by kryptonite_013 on June 23, 2010
Pros: Looks nice
Fast connection
Worked well once installed
Price pointCons: Automatic set up did not work well. The manual was no help at all.
I did everything it told me to do but it could not connect.
I found that you actually had to do another step not indicated in the manual.Summary: Once I set it up it works well, faster than my old Dlink router.

The set up was flawed, I figured out that I had to connect to it manually by just plugging everything in. It sent out a signal already that told me to input a PIN code found under the router, once entered the automatic setup worked. I guess the missed that in the instructions otherwise it would not let you connect to it.
Over all I am satisfied with this router, I noticed faster speeds on my wireless G laptop already. I was able to connect my xbox without any hassle. With my old router I had to configure things just so I can connect to the internet with my 360, this router worked right after I plugged it in.
I think the other people who bought it and had problems just gave up too easily.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Needs a better setup assistant
by jd7wilson on March 15, 2010
Pros: It's working now, but it took quite a while.
Cons: While interface for advanced settings is intuitive, applying those settings is not. The setup assistant at the beginning could be better as well.

Summary: First of all, I bought this because I've bought other Belkin routers and have had great success. This router worked okay for about 2 days, then I started having problems that I did not have with my old router, using the same features and settings (other than the old one was a G standard, instead of N). For one thing, my wife's computer did not want to connect to the internet, even though it would connect to the network. Her's, which has built-in wireless adapter, is older. The adapter only gets a max of 11 Mbps. I assumed there were compatibility issues so I bought a wireless N adapter. That improved the performance of her network connection, but Internet was slooow. My computer, on the other hand is fairly new, not top of the line but capable nonetheless. It also does not have a N standard adapter, but it does have the G and is capable of 54Mbps. I had everything setup that I wanted - MAC filtering on wireless and firewall, WPA2 encryption, I had it set to work in B, G and N modes so that my computer and my wife's computer with her new adapter would work with it. It worked fine for 2 days, then stopped. I tried every type of reset, reboot, restart, reconfiguration imaginable. I even restored the router back to factory defaults. I could no longer connect wirelessly from my computer. In a last-ditch effort I tried connecting via the WPS method. It worked. I had a great network connection, but Internet was even slower than on my wife's computer, if it was connecting at all. Finally, I had the brainstorm to change the transmit mode to G only, 'cause everything had failed. Suddenly, I have wireless connectivity on my computer again. And my wife's computer can now connect to the Internet and get much faster speeds. So, I started setting up the security protocols again - MAC filtering, encryption. Woops! I can't connect again. I restarted my machine. I restarted the router. Nothing. I double checked the encryption code, even displayed the key strokes to be sure. The code was right. I can't connect anymore. So, I turned off the encryption and I'm throwing caution to the wind, hoping that MAC filtering will be enough. I'm in search of answers as to why it went from working well on my computer to not letting me connect. And neither I nor anyone else (it's just my wife and I in our house) changed any settings between my last use and to when it stopped connecting. If you are making the jump from G to N, I would recommend first doing your homework to decide what options are best for you.

Pros: it's nice looking, very fast to turn on (less than 30 seconds, maybe 15 seconds), easy set up... nice lights on the front.... the signals is good (i get all 5 bars every where in my house)
Cons: signal does drop sometimes.. (more than it should), who cares, it reboots really fast :D, sometimes the speed can be slower than normal....
Summary: overall it's alright.... (not the best), i like it anyways. there isn't much loss in speed, it's just as fast as having cabled internet.... i wouldn't ...

i haven't had any major problems yet, and i had the thing for a week... it's cheap, if it ever breaks down i can always buy a different brand..

Summary: It takes minutes to load a webpage, if your connection doesn't time out and if your doing any sort of online gaming you can expect random disconnects and ping spikes that go into the thousands. Unless you are the only one using this router, and you only have 1 or 2 devices you are going to be connecting to it with, AVOID THIS GARBAGE

Unreliable router, but manageable if you're patient.
by MatthewVinez on August 16, 2012
Pros: Fairly easy setup, Nice design, Small & light

Summary: I don't know that I've ever bought a router I've really thought was good, and I've tried most of the major brands. This one worked for a bit, and then started crashing. As long as you're OK with power cycling on a regular basis, this will work. I bought it about 2.5 years ago, and it worked (with frequent power cycles) for a year & a half. It quit working completely a year ago, but I found that if I removed the encryption security it would work. I used it as an unsecured network for the past year, and it didn't need to be power cycled nearly as often (maybe once a month or so). As of today it threw in the towel.
I wouldn't say it's horrible, since I used it for 2.5 years, but it definitely isn't good either. -
The worst router I've ever used.

So, which one of the Mad Men came up with "Enhanced"?
by Zhiska on April 19, 2012
Pros: Very attractive packaging. Ad copy on box very effective in "hooking" the unsuspecting , and non-tech-savvy customer.
Cons: Does not deliver as promised: Mainly, this product is NOT powerful enough to "push" the signal anywhere except in the room it's installed in...the signal in the adjacent room is way too unreliable to work with.
Summary: Since some reviewers seem to have had good success, my advice is to keep all your packaging and receipts if you choose to buy this admittedly economical product--you may have ...
Summary: Since some reviewers seem to have had good success, my advice is to keep all your packaging and receipts if you choose to buy this admittedly economical product--you may have to return it! Customer service was odd, since all the phone time was taken up asking me to register, rather than listening to my problem. Also, my Windows utility actually completed the install for me, rather than the included software (?!). Finally, the fact that it did not deliver as promised was the ultimate burn: it just is not powerful to push the signal into any other rooms of a normal house or apartment, despite what the packaging says. 'Really disappointed that Belkin would keep such a poor product on the market.

Summary: Bought this on Black Friday. Very easy set up. Used it for my iphone. Have company coming for Christmas and wanted it so they could use their laptops. Worked great for a month. Now it keeps disconnecting. I used to be able to restart and all would be fine. Not anymore. So I called the 877 number for assistance. Still waiting for assistance as I couldn't understand a word they said. I asked for someone who spoke English, was put on hold for 10 minutes and the same girl came back to me. Her accent is too strong for me to understand. Again, more work farmed out overseas....you get what you pay for. I am forced to call back again and hope I can understand someone in order to get this working again.
