Summary: I am very pleased with it's ease of setup, and with it's ability to provide a wireless internet connection throughout the entire house for visiting children/grandchildren. We use the wired side; turn on the wireless when visitors need (want) it, and turn it off when they leave. Most of us use Macs. I couldn't be happier.

Good Buy, Not so easy setup

Summary: Good router for the price and so far the reliability is been better that my old lynksys router of 2 years died. My only real problem was the setup. The easy setup disk was a waste of time. Had to call tech support to setup and after 2 hours and 2 calls there answer is my isp modem has NAT turned on and has the same ip address as the router. Only after calling my ISP did they inform me of the following. Seems that all the new routers require you to bridge your modem in order to use their routers. Would have been nice to know that in the inital setup. After bridging the modem, setup was complete in 5 minutes. FYI, if you bridge your modem you will loose a firewall on the modem so make sure you make up for some where else. Belkin needs to update there software/website/owners manual with this information.

Bad user opinions are actually true

Summary: I usually don't put a lot of stock in negative user reviews I read online, as they tend to be written by people who either have no idea what they're doing, or just love to complain. This is NOT the case for this product. Everything you read about the router frequently dropping the (WIRED) connection is true. Just look at the security logs after you set it up, and you'll find "WAN Connection Disconnected =>" about every five minutes or so. Sometimes only two or three minutes.
I'm open to the possibility that I'm just not savvy enough to diagnose or fix the problem, but I've done EVERYTHING I can think of and have looked EVERYWHERE online for a solution, all to no avail. For the record, I've since bought a D-Link instead, and am so far very happy with it.
I definitely would not recommend this router, but if you decide to give it a shot anyway, please, PLEASE keep your receipt and check the security logs. -
Unmitigated Grabage

The Setup Interface is very poor, Slow and Clumsy. Signal range is pathetic, i receive a stronger signal from my neighbors d-link router next door than this router placed directly upstairs. Network transfer are incredibly slow. Frequently drops internet connection. Requires constant reboots, sometimes three times a day. Investigating other reviews of belkin products, this is not uncommon and serious questions need to be asked why a company is allowed to get away with making such trash. -

Flaky, buggy and Belkin sure does not care

Enter Belkin. At first, I was happy to get my VPN connectivity up. Soon, though, I realized that the Belking router was basically a piece of hastily put together crud. It has seen virtually no testing. The support is aweful.
The most annoying things are:
- The router freezes up every 5 mins. Wireless interface and web console are unreachable.
- Sometimes it also reboots spontaneously.
- On many occasions, it also loses its configuration. I have had to reconfigure it from scarch several times.
If you don't have serious problems with your VPN, stick to netgear or some other more reliable product. -
Worst router ever used

Summary: Ok, let me start by saying that we had a D-Link router in our house for three years, but then it finally quit working so obviously we had to buy a new one. I did my research on Best Buy, Circuit City, and Officemax websites and found that this particular router happened to be the best for the money at the time and it also had a 7 or 8 review on Best Buy's website. When we brought it home my husband tried to hook it up and couldn't get it to work with Windows Vista so he called customer service. It took them forever to figure it out as well and it was really frustrating, but finally it was working. Then the fun began. Every few hours, sometimes almost a whole day it would work correctly and the other times it would disconnect over and over again. You have to keep resetting it and it is very frustrating if you are trying to download files. Please do not buy this router. It is not worth it. D-Link and Linksys work great.

What a POS Router
by CitznFish on May 14, 2007

Summary: I would avoid this pile of crap! I bought this router along with 4 USB wireless network cards. All my machines get disconnected every three days or so. I have to unplug the router, then plug it back in. Belkin tech support is a complete joke. I get canned responses to my issues. Some responses are so off that I KNOW they didn't read my complaint. For example, I said there were no firmware updates available, I was having this disconnection issue and I need an alternative fix. The response from Belkin? "So, you want to update your firmware, let me show you how". FRUSTRATING! I hate this company.
In addition, the router is not backwards compatible as they claim. Just try connecting with a 111b
Again, do yourself a favor and stay away from Belkin *anything*
