one of the worst-routers-ever
by Jacksonbaker323 on March 27, 2005
Pros: it routes.... sometimes
Cons: port forwarding doesnt work, and after about 3 days of being on it quits working and requires unplugging
Summary: Buy a Linksys or a D-Link, this is really a horrible product.

Reduced DSL speed to less than dial-up
by MartinWMolloy on April 11, 2007
Pros: Easy installation with CD wizard
Cons: Internet speed spiked from 0MB to 100MB and back to 0MB every minute (Norton System Doctor pinging symantec.com).
Summary: After installing Belkin 4-Port wired router Model # F5D5231-4, my DSL connection speed dropped below my prior 50 KB dial-up connection speed. After reading the CD manual, I checked settings, cloned ...

Summary: After installing Belkin 4-Port wired router Model # F5D5231-4, my DSL connection speed dropped below my prior 50 KB dial-up connection speed. After reading the CD manual, I checked settings, cloned my MAC address, and tried to update the router firmware – without success.
Belkin Technical Support tried to help, but disabling the router firewall was his only option for my wired model – which didn’t help. He didn’t know if there was a firmware update or what was wrong. I suggested unplugging the router, which confirmed Belkin was the problem when Internet Speed returned to a steady 100 MB.
Replacement assured me latest firmware would be included.
Not the way to establish reliability for a new product line from a respected cable company.

Summary: With this router, I find myself having to 'hard boot' my router frequently. I always lose connection on my lap top and desk top computers at the same time. I live about 3 blocks from SBC/Pacific Bells DSL building, so I clock in with max speeds. I know it is not telephone line "Bridge Tap" because my friend is a 5 year tech with SBC and tested my lines. This problem only began after I installed this router. It is a cheap router and I do not recommend it.

Summary: After having much trouble with the Belkin Wireless 'G' Router I decided to go with this simple wired router for my broadband connection. It installed on the host computer and I had our other PC hooked up and connected within a few minutes. Good performance at this early stage of operation, much more realiable than the wireless alternatives which I will not be going back to. All in all a good quality router that works as it should.

Good and Reliable Router
by on September 1, 2004
Pros: Having connection problem with cable modem recently due to a weak signal when modem was connected not to the designated wall jack. Tech suggested to purchase and install router. Went to a local computer store and found this real bargain wireless router.
Cons: Hardly have a chance to see my teenage son anymore, stays connected w/wireless internet to play those silly games (sigh!)

Not bad but I'll try Netgear next time
by on May 10, 2004
Pros: Cheap with many features
Cons: Web interface crashes when you try to put a computer in DMZ, while connecting remotely through a WAN IP address. To restore, you must access it localy through 192.168.2.1 address (or whatever you set it to be during the setup).

Like it - but can't consistently use Outlook Express
by on September 20, 2003
Pros: Easy to setup, easy to configure. Pretty much no thought involved.
Cons: For some reason I have to reboot my PC multiple times before I get my email to work. No easy way to find a solution on the Belkin site referring to this. Used Google...which took me to a FAQ on the site. Will try it out and get back to you.
