Summary: I bought this router because I was getting tired of unplugging and plugging my connection from my DSL Modem to my different computers. Getting access to the internet from both computers was a snap. I can tell no difference with the speed of my connection with or without it. (This is a good thing). The included software allowed me to add a printer to my new found home network with ease, and made sure that all of my hardware continued to talk to each other. As a networking novice, this unit made me feel like a pro in no time.

Junk with no support
by trust2112 on March 28, 2009
Pros: It's cheap, which is why it didn't hurt too much to replace.
Cons: No bandwidth, it killed my internet connection. Where I could hit 4Mbps, with this piece of crap, i was d/l at dial up speeds.
Summary: Do NOT buy, junk, cheap

Horrible for online gaming (COD) and P2P sharing
by paelana on March 7, 2009
Pros: Intuitive user interface. Lots of features. Slick look. Nice size. Am able to run my own FTP site through it. Good for lite use (Web browsing, e-mail, etc).
Cons: Can barely play online games with this router. It bottlenecks each time I refresh the server list in COD5. Have to reboot it constantly in order to play. Slows to a crawl when I open P2P file sharing apps.
Summary: Don't buy this router if you are planning to play online games or use P2P networks. You will likely tear your hair out in frustration. It doesn't have ...

by dloc888 on November 18, 2008
Pros: It looks nice... Nice and compact...
Cons: Makes internet very spotty... sometimes the internet works sometimes it doesn't... and when the internet does work it won't load pictures and gives tons of error messages. I downloaded the latest firmware and called customer support, Neither helped.
Summary: There are some serious flaws with this router. Do not buy this product. I will never buy another D-Link product again... If you buy this you're just gonna have ...

Summary: There are some serious flaws with this router. Do not buy this product. I will never buy another D-Link product again... If you buy this you're just gonna have to return it anyway because it won't work. Stick to a brand that's been around longer and knows there stuff like Linksys... And now with Lynksys' partnership with Cisco, you know you're getting a good product.

Summary: I bought this for the reasonable price, but sometimes wish I had gone with a better quality router. I usually get good performance, and never have problems with downloads/uploads on different services. Installation and setup were a breeze. The only problem I've had is with it sometimes displaying certain webpages incorrectly. This will happen once or twice a week, and requires the router to be rebooted to function properly again. Updating the firmware didn't help. Other than that, the router works well.

Simple and cheap, port forwarding does not work though

Summary: I got this thinking a router would give an extra level of security from attacks. I plan to run a web server on my Windows machine in my home. This does not offer one bit of protection for that.
I tried to use port forwarding which this is supposed to have, and it does not forward. I wanted my public server port to be 8080 and my private port to be 80. I set this up to forward, and nothing happened.
My site is not visible on the internet with port forwarding set up. sigh.
It does have four ports to connect up to four computers so if that is what you need it for, this is a good cheap solution.

Summary: This router does a descent job. I have had some problems with downloading files and playing games online. The router seems to disconnect during both activities. I attempted to download the America's Army game (2 GB) and it took 6 tries to get the whole thing. When playing Battlefield 2 online, I loose the connection after 1 hour of gameplay. I called the D-Link tech support line and talked to someone one in India. The connection was scratchy and the person was hard to understand.
