Summary: The WiFi part of this router is very flakey. The wireless transmitter in this router claims to be 802.11b&g compliant. Unfortunately the WiFi goes off the air ALL the time. Sometimes its the 802.11b, sometime the G, most of the time both will drop off. When you reboot the router it often hangs and you have to reboot many times before the router wakes up, this can take up to 30 minutes.

Summary: I just got one of these working for my brother who was having problems every few hours with dropped connections. I discovered that both his DSL modem login IP and the router base IP were defaulted at the same address.
If you are having connection problems try setting the router base IP to 10.0.0.1 and see if that works for you.

It does it's job... ish.

Summary: When I first set it up I got it routing to the wired computer in a matter of seconds. That was fine and dandy. When it came down to using it as a wireless router it became difficult.
I had to transfer the disc into my MacBook and go through the instructions again just to make sure I had done everything right and it came down to a minute detail that had overlooked to get it running properly. From there though, I was fine and it still took me under an hour so how could I be frustrated right? RIGHT?!
Hardly... when your wireless goes down (which may happen from time to time on any wireless connection), it goes down with a vengeance and I'm stuck resetting everything and the one time where it went out on me for no reason... I ended up having to go into the router settings and do everything all over again.
It serves it's purpose and when it's working, it's good. Otherwise... if you can find a more reliable router, go for it. I just really didn't have a whole lot of money to spend.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

my next door neighbor got one and of these and never could get it working. i offered to help her and experienced the same problems as her: sporadic disconnects and no signal past 40 feet. i could connect to my router across the street easier than hers when i was only 2 rooms away! we tried 3 laptops with practically the same results. new toshiba laptop core duo: sporadic disconnects; my compaq centrino: sporadic disconnects; my old toshiba w/dlink dwl-g630 card could barely connect at all.
even after a firmware upgarde, this thing still had problems. she wound up giving it to me since she lost the receipt. what am i to do with it? replace it for another equally bad piece of crap?2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Wireless Connection....what connection

Summary: Made the mistake of picking this up on sale, to replace my aging WEP only router. Didnt need much, since my wireless card sits all of 2 feet from the router. While the signal stregth is always 'excellent' The thing disconects and reconects every few minutes, and the connections are painfully sporatic while working. At least 20% of the time I have to refresh webpages for them to appear.
To ensure this wasnt my ISP or cablemodem, I hooked it up via wired port, and like magic it stayed connected, but as soon as I used the wifi again I was back to drop outs every few minutes. I would be sitting there, reading a webpage and this annoying little 'pop up bubble' would say 'You Are Now Connected', meaning I was just previously not connected.
I didnt ask for blazing speed or extensive range, but I do expect a reasonably reliable connection....none found here2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

You get what you pay for...which is not much.
by JasonMath on July 24, 2007
Pros: It's pretty much the cheapest wireless router out there; you can set up a wireless network
Cons: Wireless network suddenly shuts off (when I first installed it, it took 2 hours, within a few weeks, that dropped to 20 minutes); WPA security got dropped randomly once
Summary: Avoid this at all costs; even my neighbor's unprotected wireless network is more reliable than this piece of junk.

Summary: This is the 4th router I have bought. I had 2 Linksys which locked up every 4 to 6 hours and 1 Belkin which was not compatible with a couple of my things and locked up every day. I have had this for 4 months and never had to restart it! I would recommend this router and buy this brand again.

Slows down Internet speed.
by M1kr0 on October 1, 2011
Pros: • Inexpensive
Cons: • Slow
• Horrible for gaming

Summary: If you are a Gaming enthusiast this is the worst choice of router you could possibly get, it is slow and has trouble distributing connection to other machines. I found it easily set up, but it is weak and basically pointless to have. The Dlink WBR-1310 is just as a fast as if you were to have Dial-up.

Poor/Sketchy Connection
by jaygibby22 on October 17, 2010
Pros: Came free with my computer

Summary: when connected through wifi, my speed is approx 12 Mbs, but while connected to the internet using a direct ethernet connection, my speed is approx 40-60 Mbs. I know that using a router cuts the speed of your connection but a 66-80% decrease in speed is a bit much. Also, the connection is interrupted multiple times throughout the day, which I found can be fixed by resetting the wireless connection on my laptop to reestablish my connection.
In summary, do not buy this router as you will be greatly disappointed in its speed and connection. There are much better routers on the market and the added cost will definitely be made up for with the increase in quality.
