The good: The Cisco Linksys E2000 Advanced Wireless-N Router offers excellent performance and includes a nice set of features. The router also has an aesthetically pleasing compact design and an intuitive software application to help home users set up and manage their home wireless network with ease.
The bad: The Linksys E2000 can't operate in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands at the same time. The router's Web interface and desktop software don't work together, and neither offers complete control over the router's configuration. There's also no USB port to host network storage or printers.
The bottom line: The Cisco Linksys E2000 Advanced Wireless-N Router is the fastest router we've seen in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and will definitely make home users happy with its easy-to-use setup software. Advanced users, however, might find its desktop software and Web interface combination a little disjointed.

Simple, Fast, Sleek, Reliable
by Idiotstick on February 7, 2011
Pros: The router is super fast and easy to hide.. Have had it for a few weeks now and haven't had a single issue with it with quite a few connections. 3 cpu's - 1 phone - Ps3 (open, TV, open NAT out of the box.. 4 gigibit ports, Easy Software
Cons: Guest Network only configured via Cisco software.
Summary: Very happy. Would recommend to anyone from my mother to a gamer. It's that versatile and FAST.

Awesome Power

Pros: Easy to set up (10 minutes tops). Great speed. Guest feature is nice. Range is pretty good. HD streaming is silky smooth.
Cons: Not having a USB is kind of a bummer.

Summary: From out of the box to fully operational home network took about 10 minutes. Granted I had a network setup previously, and know the process pretty well, but still super easy to set up. I do heavy HD streaming, and was having issues with my old Belkin "G" router. I haven't had any grainy, or slow loading videos yet with the E2000. I run a 12mbps cable signal, and the router dibbies it up between the laptops, phones, PS3 and desktop computer nicely. The guest feature is really nice. Just push the button on the router and they have 2 minutes to access the router and get online without typing in any annoying passwords. I could go on and on aobut this router, but I'll stop there. I picked mine up on sale at WalMart for $79. Heck of a deal!

Seems to work very well
by farmeral on October 7, 2010
Pros: Setting up the router was pretty easy; adding the wireless computers was very easy with the USB flash drive software that I created after setting up the router. You supply the flash drive. Works pretty fast on wired gigabit ethernet and wireless N.
Cons: I can't think of anything negative to report about this product. Maybe only the short amount of support (90 days). Come on, you can do better than that, Cisco!
Summary: If you have a computer or computers with wireless N and/or wired gigabit ethernet, you should consider this router. Not cheap, but not too expensive, especially for the features ...
Summary: If you have a computer or computers with wireless N and/or wired gigabit ethernet, you should consider this router. Not cheap, but not too expensive, especially for the features it has. Looks pretty nice, too. I previously had a Linksys wireless G router, and it worked OK, but this one is much faster (for obvious reasons). I am by far not a networking expert, and I felt the setup proceedure was easy enough. Documention was good though on disc only. I used the software setup wizard and read the documentation afterward.

Dual-selectable, not dual simultaneous.
by m4ch4x0r on October 9, 2010
Pros: 2.4 and 5 GHz capable, which can help keep your G devices out of your N network.
Cons: For $90, it should be able to do more than just be a WAP, Gig-E switch, and basic router.
Summary: What to like - Wireless N capable, 4 ports of Gigabit Ethernet goodness, a decent design that can sit on a shelf or mount on the wall.
What not to ...Summary: What to like - Wireless N capable, 4 ports of Gigabit Ethernet goodness, a decent design that can sit on a shelf or mount on the wall.
What not to like - You can't run 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz modes at the same time with this one box - to do so, you'd need a secondary access point to add that capability to your network (which means that end users migrating to wireless N would most likely be keeping around their old wireless G router to run in access point mode if the whole point is to run N devices at 5 GHz and G devices at 2.4 GHz). There's no USB port, eSATA port, or media card slot on the back of the router, which means it cannot be used as a file or print server. The internalized antennas, while stylish, limit the range of the device before you'd need to resort to repeaters or secondary access points throughout a premises; this is a common problem with most consumer routers these days, however.
Overall, it's not a bad little entry-level device. However, Linksys would be wise to add dual-band capability and a USB port to the next revision of this device.3 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Hooked it up as a wired repeater for my Verizon wireless. Network speed for remote laptops went from 1-10mpbs to 54mpbs. Guest feature is interesting. The admin tool is surprised when you change the ip address for the router and will no longer work - which means you have to manually pop in the ip address into your browser to talk to the admin page on the router. Otherwise I love it.

short life, cisco finds ways not to honor warranty!
by fmig on February 3, 2011
Pros: got to work quickly (yes that's it)
Cons: expensive. The product lasted only 3 1/2 months until the wireless signal became intermittent and died for good. Called CISCO and they wanted $29.99 to verify if the product really had a defect! in others words, they don't honor the warranty.
Summary: DON'T BUY IT... after having a slow (but reliable) NETGEAR router for 8 years i decided to switch to a 'FAST' (but unreliable) CISCO. The product went bad in ...
Summary: DON'T BUY IT... after having a slow (but reliable) NETGEAR router for 8 years i decided to switch to a 'FAST' (but unreliable) CISCO. The product went bad in less than 4 months and CISCO told me to spend more money or take a hike! Adios CISCO for good.

by santosomar2 on October 10, 2010
Pros: Very easy to configure, fast and reliable...Cisco/Linksys routers are THE BEST!!
Cons: A little more expensive than the competitors, but DEFINITELY worth the investment. $20-40 more can save you a lot of headaches. I have tried trendnet, d-link, netgears, etc... Cisco/Linksys routers are THE BEST!!

Pros: Good throughput even with low signal
tech people accessible
Seems simple and reliable in use, even for nubie like meCons: May be overselling usefulness of 5mhtz, in that many devices are blind to same

Summary: I have a netbook, and therefore lack either a cd ordvd drive. Accordingly, I made sure, before purchasing the router, that I can either download software or manually configure computer/router for use. Tech people did walk me through web-interfact to accomplish this, but not before trying to sell me an having a pro come to the house, or having a paid remote installation of router and configureation. In follow-up call re: 5 Mhrz option, and another two sales attempts (e.g., remote configuration and, then a Cisco ad1000 adapter to make use of 5mhz possible with my 2 yearold netbook) I learned that most devices cannot use 5 mhz. So unless you have such devices (x-box/internettv et.?) it may be that dual band routers are overkill. I like to build for the future so I remain happy with my choice. The router is giving me 65Mbps even with a low signal and my internet use is seemless and enjoyable.

Easy set-up, bad documentation
by vig8 on February 20, 2011
Pros: Flawless set-up
Easy to configure basic features

Summary: I would most likely give this unit 5 stars if not for one thing--it defaults to 2.4GHz and gives no instruction on how to set it to 5.0GHz. They have done a great job of making it user friendly for the average consumer, so why would they assume that the average consumer wants to operate it at a lower power setting? To switch to 5.0MHz, you must go into "advanced settings." Of course, if you choose the advanced settings option, you will be met with warning messages that say this option is for experts only and other dialog that will definitely scare the average user away. After reading through the poorly written owners manual on-line with countless FAQ, etc, I could not find any mention of switching between 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz. I finally found it on a seperate blog site, complete with step-by-step instructions. It is a realtively easy process in the advanced settings--an option that should be given as a basice set-up function. I now have a powerful signal in a unit that I am happy I purchased.
