Summary: This product will not work for Internet Telephony apps like MSN Messenger and AOL Messenger. You also can't use the file transfer feature of these programs through the router. Not even with the DMZ. Linksys has acknowledged the problem. Their tech support is also terrible. I have used the SMC barricade and these features do work. They offer a better value and better tech support.

Summary: I've had my Linksys BSFSR41 Router for about 3 months now... It doesn't seem to want to maintain a consistant connection. I've worked in this industry for about 7 years and never had this kind of problems with a router. (if that's what you want to call it!) Setup was fairly easy, and I liked the MAC address cloning feature. If your looking for something to just surf the web and get email. This is for you. If your setting up a serious home network, look to spend a few more bucks and get something that's a little more reliable.

Summary: I have no complaints whatsoever regarding this router. It took me about 3 minutest to set this up out of the box, needing only IP, DNS, gateway, and subnet mask. I've been using it for months and forgot it was even there until I had to change external IP addresses today. I work from home by way of VPN and Timbuktu so I generate a lot of traffic. I've never had any problems at all.

Summary: This router was EXTREAMLY easy to setup. It took longer to get the cabling hooked up than to actually configure and use the router. The one thing that it failed to mention in the setup (which you can find in the troubleshooting guide) is the fact that you must configure your NIC card to have an IP address of 192.168.1.2 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 in order to access the router's setup from your Web browser. Once that is done, the rest is a breeze and just follow the instructions. I hope you enjoy this router as much as I do.

Summary: There is no provision on this router to manually set the MTU size at the router. The keep alive does not work on a PPPoE connection, I have to run a pinger to keep the connection active for extended periods. The max idle time seems to have no effect. There is packet loss, stalling, and many disconnects. When I attach the DSL modem directly to the computer, all those problems go away. I am not pleased and will probably buy a NetGear RT314 very soon.
