Summary: I purchased this router to replace another Linksys (never again) I used this wired to a 10 MB connection and the speeds were so inconsistent I would get 3MB to 6.5MB. Support tried to tell me it was my modem, but I know it wasn't because I hooked my PC directly to the modem and guess what 10MB. I will never by another Linksys I am returning this and bought a D-Link instead

Maybe the single worst purchase I ever made
by MojoRising022 on September 28, 2009
Pros: There is not a single redeeming quality.
Cons: Customer Service is quite unhelpful & blames everything but the router for the router not working. The Mac set-up software is very intrusive and will BREAK your networking capabilities
Summary: Avoid this like the plague...believe the reviews here (the majority of which seem to be negative) and avoid the hassle.

Summary: I bought this and sat on it for 2 months before actually setting it up simply because I was so terrified of disrupting my old connection and having to go through the pain and suffering of setting up a new connection. I have multiple devices set up to my network connection so it was imperative that the exchange to the wireless N from my old G, went smoothly. I well today I finally took the time to do it and it was incredibly easy. You literally plug it in and it works. And the best part is that it prompted me to set up a WPA security password during the setup process so that I didn't have to go into the diagnostics to do it later. Remember all that stuff before? Clone Mac address, release IP, blah blah blah? None of that is an issue anymore. It took 3 minutes and everything worked flawlessly. Highly recommended.

Linksys/Cisco I need the CPU speed, RAM & Flash Memory
by tpgtommy on August 30, 2009
Pros: Nothing about this product is transparent. DO NOT BUY ANY LINKSYS PRODUCCTS. When pressing customer service people for this inform. she said there was to much static on the line to hear the question, and hung up, she was fine before the question
Cons: The customer support did not want to give the information out. What I believe is the technologhy has changed and they are using up parts they already own to clear out inventory to make way for new technology!
Summary: My suggestion if you already have a router, pass on this one until they disclose the important information. Most likely it is the same as what you already have. If ...
Summary: My suggestion if you already have a router, pass on this one until they disclose the important information. Most likely it is the same as what you already have. If you do not own a router then go to a product like D-Link Dir 655 which does give out the information. The cost difference is roughly 15/20 dollars. You have been warned. Check it out on CNET.com they say the same thing. I should of listen to the reviews of other customers who took the time. My main reason was for buying was that I owned a modem/rounter, and wanted to upgrade because I upgraded my bps from Comcast. Comcast stated I was not utilizing the cable by using such an old router.

Summary: Tried to replace an existing .11G router with a mix of LAN and wireless clients from a number of vendors (6 Pc's in total so no big ask) and not only found performance was poor but could not keep connection for longer then a few hours before the router needed to be rebooted. Despite an excellent response from the Linksys support team, problem persists and had to resort to putting the old router back. Expected more from this brand.

Summary: I was nervous about going wireless, not having any experience previously with the subject. But, with the new laptop and Wii in the house, it was time. Anyways, decided to go with a N router, as the laptop was N capable, and Best Buy had this little baby on sale. Saw good reviews on it here, so I decided to give it a shot. Here's the play by play:
Bought router
Unpacked router
Inserted CDROM into desktop
Followed easy directions (text and pictures)
Five minutes later, had a WPA-2 protected network between my desktop, laptop and Wii.
It truely was that simple. I've got blazing fast wireless connection to the laptop now, which is awesome, and having the Wii wireless is sweet too. I've only had it for a couple days, but all indicators show it to be a great router!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: no antenna, great look, possible custom firmware in the future, MIMO

Specifications
- Manufacturer: Cisco
- Part number: WRT160N
- Description: The Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology: Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable a double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the "good neighbor" mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band. To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time, with no degradation in performance. With the Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at incredible speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires!
