Not terrible, not fantastic.

Pros: Simple to set up, inexpensive (free with Xfinity package deals).
Cons: Cheap construction, not the best range, kind of flimsy.

Summary: My old Linksys WRT54G finally gave up the ghost today and I had to use the router provided by Comcast(Xfinity). I can't complain of any problems really, at least not yet, it's only been about 18 hours, I can only say that the thing is kind of cheaply constructed. The setup was painless for the most part, software was no problem, worked just fine with all of my WiFi devices (seems everything in my house is WiFi except my one main computer) and so far, iPad, Phone, 2 laptops, 2 desktops, AppleTV, HTPC, PS3, XBox360, Roku and TiVo all connect just fine. I can imagine the range won't be stellar with that itsy bitsy antenna though. Will probably upgrade to a newer Linksys model eventually though just for the quality.

Summary: I have had the gateway about a month. It tends to drop the wireless connection every few hours. It still broadcasts the SSID but does not connect/reconnect. Wired connections still work. Netgear obviously knows the issue (there is a lengthy thread on the forum on their site), but no solution is offered.

Truly a piece of Junk
by disneycow on September 21, 2011
Pros: Absolutely nothing. Cheap is cheap.
Cons: Provided by my isp has no range. Difficult to set up. Very difficult to add wifi products. Out of USA support boarders on rude and seem to lack knowledge. I have had trouble with Netgear support in the past. Advise you to avoid their products.
Summary: Replaced unit with a Motorola Gateway an unbelievable improvement.

Summary: As a non-techie, I realize that I must endure learning curve but this was ridiculous. It's the middle of the night & I am able to complete this review while my netflix movie re-loads a fourth time to sync download with viewing. I don't get it and don't want this device anymore.

Does what it says well - not many bells or whistles
by SleeStaK911 on November 2, 2010
Pros: I used this to replace my ISP-provided DSL modem. It configured easily and has good throughput. Is able to work natively with OpenDNS for family filtering.
Cons: Does not have as many admin features as some other models. incoming/outgoing IP logs are missing, as well as MAC scheduling.
Summary: Pretty good features and performance for the price. Not for those who want extreme manageability in their own home...

Summary: I bought one of these NETGEAR DGN 1000 modem + router, and it took one helll lot of a time to setup. The Wizard CD supplied does not work as it cannot detect the router, and eventually, instructs you to configure the router manually. Lot of waste of time. Range is absolutely poor. You cannot get signal beyond 20 feet. Tried every trick in the book but could not go beyond 2 signals at 20 feet. Online support is least supportive and unhelpful. Cannot work as a independent router with external modem. Had a tough time setting up Modem. Overall a lousy piece of junk. Waste of money. Had to dump it. Finally bought a ASUS N-11. Piece of cake to work with. Excellent range. works in the complete 1 acre house. Elaborate explaination to configure and the wizard CD is faboulous.
Rating DGN1000 ? 0/5
