Summary: Fastest WiFi Router , Great range on 2.4GHz and 5GHz; Simple Setup w/Netgear Genie; Fastest router I have ever owned; Perfect for Larger Homes . GREAT look

Best Router I Have Ever Owned...Period
by Mutilat1on on September 15, 2012
Pros: Simultaneous Duel Band 802.11ac/n/a/b/g; Large range on 2.4GHz and 5GHz; Simple Setup w/Netgear Genie; Fastest router I have ever owned; Perfect for Homes and Apartments; Sleek look
Cons: Not easily mounted (haven't bothered trying); Netgear Genie is a great feature, but it lacks refinement and looks like a 1st Grader designed it; A bit pricey, but considering the top end N900 is about $20 less, still worth the buy.
Summary: Preface: You can only get out what you put in (Fast Internet=Fast Router...not the other way around). Saying that, I feel that the speed I pay through my ...

Summary: Preface: You can only get out what you put in (Fast Internet=Fast Router...not the other way around). Saying that, I feel that the speed I pay through my ISP is exactly what is coming out of this router, if not more.
I live in an apartment filled with 42(thanks to inSSIDer 2.1 for the number) competing 2Wire 2.4GHZ wireless networks, and have used many routers, in multiple places but there was always interference. This router surpasses and overpowers all the other wifi signals, and that is just the 2.4GHz bands.
The 5GHz bands are on par, if not better than the comparable Linksys EA4500.
My only qualm really with the entire product is the Netgear Genie. Although, a great tool; I feel it could be more of a powerhouse, like it's companion router. I believe in this aspect, Netgear should take note from Linksys and step up their game.

Best Router
by harold24915 on April 13, 2013
Pros: I have tried over the past few years to find a router that beat my old Linksys WRT56GL and I tried all of the name brands and then finally I tried this router.
Cons: NONE that I can think of.

As expected with stock firmware; waiting on Tomato!
by HenryOfTHeDown on April 12, 2013
Pros: It's going to have Tomato!
It already has DD-WRT, though I haven't tried it yet (too soon!)
It does everything you'd expect a modern AC router to do
Storage
Guest SSID
DHCP Reservations
QoS
Wireless Repeater
NetNanny
And whatever else
Cons: No Tomato yet!
Summary: It's a router. It works. The stock firmware does not suck, and is slightly better than one might expect. But they already have DD-WRT working in it!

People complain about the 5Ghz performance, though, so I'm waiting.
The point is that the open source firmwares work in this AC router. So once AC is all settled and Netgear releases a new round of firmware, I betcha the DD-WRT and Tomato stuff gets cleaned up and I have me an AC Tomato.
What more could I want?
My range seems fine, but I am lucky that my router is in a pretty good spot to basically cover me from fence to curb.
Buying an ac router? Buy this one.

Fast and far reaching, easy to set up

Summary: I got this router to replace my old D-Link DIR-655, and the difference was immediately apparent. What took minutes to buffer with my old router, now took only seconds with this new one. Streaming HD video is fast and in some cases, nearly instantaneous. Video in 720p on my Roku 2 XS takes about 5 or less to buffer before playing. On my Apple TV, 1080p video takes about 10-15 seconds to buffer before playing. Also, the improved range eliminated most of the dead spots in my home. (This router is set upstairs and down a hall - a distance of about 60 feet to the devices that are on its network.)
This router is pricey. I almost went with the Linksys E4500 instead because it was about $40 less at the time. However, I figured that paying extra for the 802.11ac would be a good thing to do so I wouldn't have to buy another router for a while. Also, the Ethernet ports are somewhat awkward to get to - they are at the base of the unit which makes it a pain to connect when the router is already positioned.
Setting-up the R6300 is easy. I used a desktop to set it up initially and I was up and running in 10 minutes. The box includes one Ethernet cable and an easy-to-follow manual. The router's chassis is made so that it stands upright (no additional assembly is required). Once it was running, I changed settings using my Iphone - all very easy.
I'm happy with this router because its such a big improvement over my old D-Link DIR-655 (it died after 6 years of faithful service R.I.P.) I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their home network.

Extremely fast and easy to setup.
by jhawk27 on September 11, 2012
Pros: Setup is extremely simple. The genie makes it very easy to make basic adjustments to your home network via your smartphone. QOS works great. The range is huge for me. I have no problem getting a strong signal in my 3800 sqft home.
Cons: Consistently loses connection and reconnects on its own. It's very frustrating when gaming so I went back to my N600 WNDR 3700 reliable router and am awaiting the next firmware update.
Summary: Excellent router in everway but the unreliability with it's connectivity made me switch back to my NetGear N600 which is highly recommended as well by many reviews online. I ...

I hope the Firmware updates in the future will fix this problem because it is an extremely fast router with great range on bot the 2.4 and 5ghz bands.

It is as advertised easy to set up and fast.
by t_davidn1 on July 20, 2012
Pros: Out of the box and up and running in less than 20 minutes, that includes unpacking and reading the instructions.
Cons: Would be 5 stars if I wasn't having trouble with getting my wireless HP printer to hook up to the router. Everything else so far has been flawless.
Summary: Amazing, impressive, worth the money!
