Summary: I set up this product initially and it worked for a few days with no hassle whatsoever, upon physically disconnecting the device and re-connecting it for the first time, my PC behaved as if it had never seen the device before. I figured i had better uninstall the drivers and reinstall and everything should be okay. However it was not, this time around the device would not even be detected by windows, thinking this was a problem with the PC , i tried the device on my laptop which would not detect it either. The only conclusion i can draw is that the device is broken less than a week after purchase and after only being re-connected to the pc a few times.

An awesome looking an performing router!
by scuuba_steve13 on April 13, 2010
Pros: I bought this router @ frys a couple weeks ago as an alternative to the monopolized router the cable company was leasing me, and i must say its working great. great for wi-fi with it push to connect, and great for networking printers and other cpu's.
Cons: the only con i have, is that it doesnt have a long enough range of coverage to reach out into my back yard. Not ideal for a two story home because of again the Range.

Summary: this net gear wnr1000 is a great beginers router as it was a breeze to set up. It provides enough productivity to over shadow its lack of range. great for a single story home, and great for a 2-3 cpu network set up with printer sharing. not ideal for huge homes, two story homes, or if you desire your wi-fi to reach out into your back yard( wich in itself isnt such a bad thing, that way you wont get hacked). AWESOME buy for it's price.

Summary: Because the router broke down after the 90 day warranty, Netgear required the purchase of a $100 extended warranty before they would even discuss what might be wrong and try to fix it. After paying the money, I spent about 2.5 hours struggling with a barely competent tech from a foreign call center and we never did get the router working. In the end, a new router will be purchased and I'm out the cost of the Netgear and the extended warranty. We will be finding a different brand to buy.

Don't waste your MONEY!!!
by play4christ22 on December 27, 2009
Pros: It looks cool, but that is it.
Cons: Constantly drops your connection.
The "Push 'N' Connect" button does not work half the time.
The setup CD was not helpful in diagnosing any issues.

Summary: The worst purchase I've made in a long time. Kind of like buying fried hard boiled eggs, not a good idea. I spent more time trying to figure out the internet connection issues than actually using it. Normally I can put up with anything for a couple of days, but 24 hours is all this lasted before converting to the Belkin N+ router.

An absolute rip off.
by Morant151 on July 8, 2012
Pros: Its sleek black shell was very comforting.
Cons: Broke down almost exactly one day after the warranty expired. While it was working, I had to put up with near-constant disconnections. Do not buy.

Summary: I often wonder how much this little thing can handle. I mean, I bought this a year ago to replace my Lynksis, Hooked up WIRED to it a desktop, 2 Xbox360 and a Samsung blue ray player (after it stopped working wireless with a 3rd party dongle after update). And Wireless, 2 laptops, 2 netbooks, 3 Wii, 3 PS3, another Xbox360,a tablet,3 3ds,2 dsi,5 cell phones. Is there a limit? It has not given me any problem or slowing down. I have a 3 story house and it's on the 2nd floor.
I recommended it to all my friends. Oh, and I use Xfinity.

Easy setup, great features and has 4 wired ports too.
by tazman171 on January 27, 2012
Pros: An actual power button. 1 button WPS connect. 4 RJ-45 wired ports. Lifetime warranty.
Cons: Signal is weak but exactly as stated on their specs. They even have a guide specifying what model works best for the intended use. Netgear.com has that guide and would point you to a different router for 2 stories and backyard coverage.

Summary: Got this router through my ISP for free after finding a non-advertised web page for it, paid shipping and there's no monthly fee, great deal. It works great and has tons of features for security, access types and traffic monitoring on it's setup page. I use quite a few of them including the DOS attack email alert option. Not sure why others report it as impossible to setup as it was a 5 minute process at most. The router page even has scrollable help info on one side that directly pertains to the setup page that you are on, very convenient as you don't need to click back and forth between pages to get the info you need. I have several friends using the same router (from the ISP deal) and they love it too. They use theirs with gqaming consoles as well as laptops and smart phones and love how easy it is to setup new devices via the one touch WSP button.
Bottom line; works great for me in my apartment and I actually do get a half strength signal in the backyard about 30 feet and one story below the router's location which is great because with ANY wi-fi greater distance = reduced signal strength even with no electrical interferencefrom phones, micro waves, cell phones, etc., etc.
I have and will recommend this to friends if it meets their signal requirements as far as size of the area that needs connectivity.
