Summary: I had the MIMO G netgear router before this one and this one is amazing! I had to change one thing on the MIMO G router and that was the signal. That made the internet very slow. Now with the new wireless n netgear my 6.0GHZ phone dosen't interfere ( the wireless MIMO G still interfered with the 6.0). this is a great buy. Very sinple to setup . My g laptop is faster even with out the n adaptor. I have a desktop with the wireless n card and it is even faster. up to 300 megabits / sec. g is about 100.

IMPRESSIVE so far - out of the box and worked
by cdouglas70 on March 14, 2010
Pros: It was an easy plug and play out of the box experience, and continues to work. It is obvioulsy compatible with Comcast (which can be very picky about routers). Speed and range, good; getting 175 mps from laptop at other end of the house (4400 sf).
Cons: Nothing so far.
Summary: I tried the Belkin N+ and hand nothing but headaches and trouble. When it was finally up it would stay that way only for a day and then had to ...
Summary: I tried the Belkin N+ and hand nothing but headaches and trouble. When it was finally up it would stay that way only for a day and then had to be reset. This one is pounding away and no hickups yet at all. Really worth the extra 20-30 buck over the Belkin. Belkin should stick to making cables.

Known Issues
by epretorious on August 17, 2009
Pros: Elegant design. Nice feature set.
Cons: This router has known issues that have not or will not be addressed in firmware. e.g.,The router's built-in, caching DNS server [that is is hard-coded in to the router's DHCP server] has never worked.
Summary: Poor feature implementation. Infrequent firmware upgrades. Unresponsive and/or combative technical support.
Check the Netgear forums to verify (e.g., http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=24051)Summary: Poor feature implementation. Infrequent firmware upgrades. Unresponsive and/or combative technical support.

Summary: I upgraded from an 802.11b netgear router and the speed increase is noticeable. Install went smoothly except that wireless acesss list didn't seem to get handled by the install wizard , but that is easily set up through the browser interface which will look familiar to you if you have used netgear equipment in the past. I connected two PCs and a notebook wirelessly as well as an xbox 360. I have not had any problems with dropped connections in 3 weeks of use.

Summary: I would not purchase this router if you are not happy with things not working. I tried so many different ways to keep the connection to the internet. I called tech support several times with no luck. When it was connected the speed was excellent. I read several post on Netgear's forums about the same problem.

Don't waste your time on this one
by bkrochman on December 20, 2009

Summary: The dropped wireless connections are maddening. Disabling and re enabling the wireless adapter fixes it, but who needs that routine every few hours? I will be replacing this as soon as I research a more solid product.
Also, the bright blue flashing lights around the top are a waste of energy and annoying when the lighting is turned down in the room.
I would have selected a lower rating but the lowest I could pick was 1.5. I would give this a zero.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Powerful Workhorse
by LuckyNucky7 on April 24, 2013
Pros: Has not dropped a signal since purchased 2 yrs ago. I live in a 5-bedroom house with 2 Laps, Dsktop, Printer/Scanner, X-box, and PS3 connected. Initial set-up was easy and Security was through. Running File Share between Dsktop and Laps.
Cons: Firmware V1. This WNR3500 is V2. Anybody have a suggestion besides contacting Netgear?
Summary: This WNR3500 indicates it is a V2, however the firmware upgrade indicates V1.

Great router, Gigabit as Promised!
by staMerrill on June 29, 2011
Pros: USB Storage capability, as far as I know, the only one out there... Gigabit... Wireless b/g/n, great encryption options... Sets up fast, requires very little maintenance. Good design...
Cons: Only USB2.0, some encryption methods demand speeds of 56mBps. As far as I can tell, you can't set the hard disks to turn off after so long of no use, (though this is conquered by WD, their drives turn off after 3 minutes of no use).
Summary: This is a great router for a home office. It has fast speeds and has a great USB storage option if you don't want to pay to have a ...

Works like it should - nothing great, nothing bad
by jonmac on February 14, 2011
Pros: Very simple to setup right out of the box. DDNS was simple to get going. Security has all the bells and whistles required to keep bad guys out. Remote administration works great.
Cons: Every now and then it seems to lose its configuration, so backup after every change! You can't get a better router unless you venture into the enterprise level. This is fine for a SOHO environment. The LEDs are almost bright enough to read by!

Summary: If you want a Gigabit wired router with b/g/n wireless with easy administration, this is the way to go. I've used every major brand since "b" was approved by the IEEE and Netgear has always had their act together. The only thing missing is "Guest Network" capabilities. That could be done via a firmware upgrade if Netgear ever feels the need, but then why would anyone buy a new router if they just keep upgrading the existing ones for free? This is a great buy for the price. Just remember to backup your configuration in multiple places (local drive, external drive, flash drive) "just in case" you need to restore without rebuilding your configuration from scratch.
