pretty much Junk
by toodm1 on October 15, 2010
Pros: I like the concept of having a portable high speed wifi hot spot able to connect up to 5 devices. Other than the concept there is nothing I like about this unit.
Cons: Dropped connections, slower than a dial up connection, not reliable, poor customer support.

Summary: I've had this for about a year and it seems to always shut off, drop the connection, try to renew my ip address or lose connection at random. It is stable for about the first 10 to 20 minutes of use but then it gets a mind of its own and may or may not continue to work. Sprints customer support has been less than helpful leaving me on hold for 20-30 minutes at a time. Sometimes it will shut off and the only way I can get it to turn back on is to remove the battery and power source. The battery only lasts about an hour to an hour and a half and if try to plug it in it will still not turn on until the battery has at least a 10% charge. I'll be changing not only equipment but also service providers as soon as my contract is up.

Sprint 4G overpromised but way underperformed.
by 1Griffin on October 15, 2010
Pros: Wireless. Barely Functional in 3G.
Cons: S-L-O-W. Crashes constantly. I live in a "high signal" area, Baltimore. Can't be used when cloudy. Worse in D.C. I signed a 2 yr contract, Sprint misrepresented their ability to deliver my Company internet service. Please consider alternatives.

Not worth the time
by pennywood52 on October 13, 2010
Pros: The thought that it would work
Cons: Drops signal, drops connection, heats up, bad connection all the time. Going to take it back.
Summary: I had problems with it the day I got it. And it only gets worse.

Pros: No Wires, Connections up to 5 devices!
Cons: Battery life, but I use a desktop at home - therefore i always keep it pluged into the charger. No biggie.

Summary: I highly recommend this product. I purchased it from Best Buy 2 months ago, i only spent $1.09 on it. I don't really care for the 4g service since it's still fairly new. As long as i have internet, that's all that matters to me.

Service Good-Battery Sucks
by lamoynes on September 9, 2010
Pros: I love this products because when it is running, all the household can log on the internnet at the same time, without noticeable loss of speed. We have four computers that log on and download music, browse,
Cons: I bought this product on 7-13-10 and on 9-6-10 the battery craps out, the unit burns hot and the battery life is shortened. new battery after wix weeks

Summary: Sounds like sprint and ATT are developing so fast that they don't have time to test, and we are the BETA TESTERS. I think really bites when six weeks a product is null and void. Sprint refuses to replace fee of charge, and I am stuck now with spending more money on item, let's see if I have to buy a battery every six weeks over two years, I'll go back to dial up.

Excellent router handles 5 users with FAST 4G coverage.
by crazyutty on August 26, 2010
Pros: 4G! Up to 5 connections! Small for a router! Portable!
Cons: Gets hot, 3G is not unlimited, 5 user limit, Have to restart about once a week, 4G coverage gets sparse when the weather is bad

Summary: This router has saved my sanity. A group of us (5 to be exact) sit at a client site and needed access to the Internet from our laptops. I bought this router without high hopes, but MAN it has delivered. We get 4G coverage in our room, and it is FAST. SpeedTest.com gives me speeds from 4MB-6MB+ downloads! Even when the weather is cruddy and we switch to 3G, it's pretty good. I don't like the 5GB limit for 3G, but hey, nothing's perfect. It heats up pretty hot, so we keep it near an AC vent. I've heard it has battery issues, but we use it in a stationary room and it is always plugged in. I wish we could connect more than five users though as I plan on hiring more employees here. We restart the router once a week because it stops transmitting, but it takes a couple minutes and does not hinder our business. Awesome idea! Almost perfect implementation!

Too good to be true! Looks aren't everything.
by timinic on June 30, 2010
Pros: Sleek design, easy to set up, works fine for short stints on the internet, can be placed in many different locations in order to find a good signal. Can connect up to 5 wireless devices.
Cons: Overheats after less than an hour or so of use regardless of firmware updates or excellent 3G signals (have not tried 4G). Once it overheats the Overdrive shuts down and you are suddenly off the internet and hurled into no-mans' land.
Summary: If you only need to be on the internet for a short period of time and looks are important then go ahead and take the risk. But if you need ...
Summary: If you only need to be on the internet for a short period of time and looks are important then go ahead and take the risk. But if you need a reliable internet connection that can handle all-day computing DO NOT BUY this Overdrive I would instead suggest a USB modem with a 3/4G router in order to connect many wireless (and even wired) devices.
The Overdrive connections are unreliable and device does not try to reconnect. The signals are also inconsistent. One minute it is excellent but then drops suddenly to a very weak reading and then drops out all together. Not good for all-day computing or work related needs. You can only connect to wireless devices which for most is not a problem but for me I like to have the option of a wired connection. The overheating of the device causes it to shut down. I have read this on forums and it has happened to me everyday since I got it. THe help desk says it can happen and that my device is defective but, since many others are saying this too, it is not defective but a basic engineering flaw.
There are other devices that are lighter in weight, easier to travel with and work far better than this Overdrive. I am returning my Overdrive for a modem and router tomorrow -SAYONARA! -
very nice product but with basic flaws
by sudeep71 on June 12, 2010
Pros: compact, functional, good battery life, fast speed
Cons: Device has fatal flaw. Connectivity is ok with USB . However, there is repeated loss of connectivity over wireless. Repeated emails to Sierra wireless has not fixed this problem. They issued a new software upgrade recently and same problems persist.
Summary: good product but with severe issues. Not ready for prime time. If you buy it prepare for a lot of frustration.

awesome product
by roadking323 on May 28, 2010
Pros: i travel constantly and this hotspot works as advertised. Speed is better than my 3G on my iphone and provides me a better solution for my Ipad Wifi than getting the 3G version.
Cons: 4G is only limited but the 3G works pretty well
Summary: If you need a mobile 3G/4G product this is it. Works well, easy to use and set up, and network seems faster even at just 3G.

Sppeds not as advertised
by abdulghanizcnet on May 10, 2010
Pros: It is a good mobile wi-fi device which helps connect several devices to the internet at the same time
Cons: In Chicago - 4G speed is horrible. Did speed tests on all days of the week. It's ok during week-ends (3Mbps) but not good for streaming videos because speed doesnt last for long. During week-days it is horrible - 0.3 Mbps - seems worse than DSL.
Summary: Even after complaining to technical support of SPRINT - they first said that they will connect with the Manfacturer - and the found no issue, Then they sent the ticket ...
Summary: Even after complaining to technical support of SPRINT - they first said that they will connect with the Manfacturer - and the found no issue, Then they sent the ticket to higher-ups... to the RELAY TOWER but even they said no issue with the tower and I need to go and see if there is any software update for my device... Seems horrible With Respect To Speed... However if you are just looking for a wifi device on the go - you can keep this. I am able to connect to my office VPN and do regular tasks, chat etc... but my kid goes on youtube often and it is a sure No-No for her...
