The good: The Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot SCH-LC11 is good-looking, compact, and easy to use, and features Wireless-N and a superfast connection to the Internet. The device has a good set of features that can be managed via its well-organized Web interface.
The bad: The Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot SCH-LC11 comes with expensive and limited data plans and runs hot. The router lacks common features such as tethering, Wi-Fi Protected Setup, external antenna support, and GPS and doesn't allow Wi-Fi clients to communicate with one another.
The bottom line: Business users who need a superfast mobile Internet connection will be happy with the Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot SCH-LC11. Others should be aware of its expensive data plans and hot temperature.

Horrible connection problems seem all too common.
by sheree202 on December 30, 2011
Pros: I have no pros when compared to other hotspots that I've used.
Cons: - This device will at times not connect to the internet for HOURS.
-When it does connect it disconnects often - sometimes every few minutes.
- Battery life is not good and there's no indicator of low battery.Summary: I've struggled with this device for 6 months. I even had a replacement sent with the exact same issues. I am a college student with some online blended courses. ...
Summary: I've struggled with this device for 6 months. I even had a replacement sent with the exact same issues. I am a college student with some online blended courses. I've missed quite a few live online classes due to no connectability and had it disconnect many times during timed quizzes.
Verizon customer service seems completely uninterested in the problems that this device has. They've told me that they don't get complaints on it and blame it on my computer (even though I have a new laptop and Ipad - both which experience the connection problems at the same time). I've asked for them to end my contract for internet service and they tell me that I must pay the breaking contract fee.
On top of this, I'm paying close to $100/month for service due to overage fees! Unbelievable considering I can only stay connected half of the time. I wonder if the device trying to connect could be raising my useage??4 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Totally unreliable.
by techuser44 on December 24, 2011
Pros: Very little to recommend
Cons: Same comment as another reviewer. Laptop shows "connected" & "strong signal" but can't connect to internet. The 'Little blue" light must be flashing to indicate a true connection. I'm constantly being thrown off the internet .
Summary: Totally unreliable as your only means to connect to the internet.

Too Many Problems
by Rudy711 on December 19, 2011
Pros: Fast 4G speeds
Best used for basic web surfing or email.Cons: After less than 5 minutes of inactivity, even though everything looks fine, there is no communication to the internet. Unit must be constantly power cycled to work. Contacted VZ 6 times. Power set to NEVER. Won't work with most VPNs.
Summary: Stay away from this unit. VZ doesn't care about the problems. VZ refuses to believe problems with unit. I have problems with Windows 7 pcs as well as my ...

This unit is a joke!
by trublondegoddess on February 24, 2013
Pros: It looks nice
Cons: Where do I begin! It looses connectivity on a regular basis, battery can't hold a charge but the worst flaw is the data usage! My account is now using 4 times the data I used with my previous device and Verizon can't figure out why!
Summary: Of all of the amazing electronics I have purchased in the last three months this is the only one I want to throw off of a bridge. I wish I ...

Really poor ability to maintain connectivity.
by elskay on February 14, 2013
Pros: Compact size.
Cons: Gets extremely hot.
On my MacBook Air, I need to turn my WiFi off and on, usually once but sometimes 10 to 20 time in a row in order to get it to re-connect again.
Drops on-line work/writing in progress.Summary: Drops the connection which is a BIG nuisance. But today things got so bad, the work that I was drafting on-line disappeared when I could not get my AOL to ...
Summary: Drops the connection which is a BIG nuisance. But today things got so bad, the work that I was drafting on-line disappeared when I could not get my AOL to reboot. Then it happened again when filling out on-line order forms for Valentines Day flowers! I got so frustrated, I actually called in my flower order and endured being put on terminal hold for a half hour...which was much more pleasant than fighting with staying on-line and repeatedly losing the little progress made in two hours of trying to fill out a simple on-line flower order form!
Unreliability was one thing but when it starts working against me losing work, I had to say something to warn others. Stay away from this product! -
You have to sign a 2 yr contract, now your screwed
by eblakeny on August 9, 2012
Pros: It has VERY cool lights as long as they stay lite.
Cons: It dosen't work in 4g and 3g barely works. put it on speedtest.net you'll really be surprized. Even enought to thow it out.
Summary: People should be getting their money back this is a scam. 4g don't happen. and 3g itsn't up to par. Don't throw your money away!!!

Will not stay connected, expensive plans
by mwick58 on July 2, 2012
Pros: Small size is easy to transport
Cons: Have had this device for about 8 months. Since day one have had problems with unit and computer not staying connected to internet. The bars on my computer are full, but no internet connection. Usage exceeds allowed amount some months for no reason.
Summary: We originally had the unit in the basement, Verizon said to move it upstairs (although our cell phones have 4 bars and work great in the basement), we moved it, ...
Summary: We originally had the unit in the basement, Verizon said to move it upstairs (although our cell phones have 4 bars and work great in the basement), we moved it, no improvement. We called Verizon, they said bring it in and they would update the software (we had only had the unit for a week). We took it home and still no improvement. Called Verizon again, they said it must be our computer. When I said it was doing the same thing with both our computers, Verizon said bring it back for a replacement, still no improvement. Verizon says the device works correctly in their store. So I took my laptop, sat in their parking lot and it still dropped in and out, I guess there is some kind of atmospheric disturbance between the store and their parking lot.
Verizon refuses to aknowledge there is any problem and the last 2 months our usage has exceeded the limits of our plan, yet we are not doing anything different than on months when our usage averaged 2.5G. Guess I have ghost surfers.
Bottom line do not tie yourself to a two year commitment with this piece of junk unless you like frustration. -
This is a very defective product.

We have complained to best buy and gotten an update and it is no better. It is an extremely defective, expensive product with false advertizing. Poor primary internet connection!
by nowifiismyfi on June 7, 2012
Pros: When the unit IS actually connected to the internet, speeds are great.
Cons: Unreliable connection
No reliable battery indicators
Unit freezes off with all blue lights
Verizon will not consider this product faulty; it must be your computerSummary: We bought this hotspot in March of this year to replace dial-up internet. While it is true that we only receive 3G coverage here, the unit connected with very nice ...
Summary: We bought this hotspot in March of this year to replace dial-up internet. While it is true that we only receive 3G coverage here, the unit connected with very nice speeds. Then we began noticing the dropped connection. As other reviewers have noted, sometimes the connection is not available for hours! The unit and our computer indicates excellent signal, with only local connectivity. I have gone through every single troubleshooting issue I could think of with our computer to make sure that isn't the problem to no avail. When calling Verizon Customer Service (who were very polite), they immediately want you to shut down your computer and the box to see if it will reconnect. OF COURSE IT WILL...THEN DROPS AGAIN! Their answer is if it will connect, it must not be the unit. I understand they are trained to walk you through certain steps, but these do nothing to resolve the issue permanently.
Just found this on the Verizon Website:
This week, Verizon sent me a replacement. I was hoping only my unit was defective. No such luck. I am using the unit now to post this review, and am so surprised it has worked this long. I too wonder if I am being charged for data my computer sends through the unit when it has full signal, but won't allow through connection to internet. Not sure if that's even possible; I'm not very technical. Bottom line: You should not have to be technical to pay for a service, and receive what you pay for!! I am one very unsatisfied Verizon customer at this point- because of the product and it's functionality. Oh, and it just dropped again, and came back on...no wonder I'm having trouble with the "submit" button!

Bad Performance on Jet Pack - Replaced it twice!
by Deb_mohr on May 2, 2012
Pros: Love the idea of connecting multiple devices and also how fast it is when it works.
Cons: Battery is basicially useless or there is something wrong with both devices that I have had.
Summary: I purchased my Jetpack 2 weeks ago and have had nothing but problems with it. I cannot get it to last more than a couple of hours if I use ...
Summary: I purchased my Jetpack 2 weeks ago and have had nothing but problems with it. I cannot get it to last more than a couple of hours if I use it immediately after charging it. If I leave it powered down after charging it, when I turn it on the battery is drained. When I was able to get on line I would have a strong signal yet I could not get connected. I exchanged mine yesterday, came home with the new one charged it completely and then put it in my purse powered down this morning. When I went to use it today, I turned it on and my battery life was completely gone on this new device. Has anyone else had this problem?
