The good: Compact size; no separately purchased adapter needed for in-car use; built-in FM transmitter.
The bad: Tuning wheel is awkward to use; two song-memory systems should be integrated into one; can't scroll through songs on saved preset channels; remote not included.
The bottom line: The Delphi XM Roady2 has everything you need for in-car use and an attractively small shape as well.

Now the bad news

Summary: Unit is very user friendly I use it at home, in my car and at work daily. The only drawback is the fact that I am on my third unit in five months. The cigarette lighter adapter broke off inside the unit and it could not be repaired. The second time it was replaced was because the antennae adapter broke off inside the radio and could not be repaired! I would highly recommend that you buy an extended warranty. So you don’t have to pay for a new unit every couple of months!

Very Good Radio But not perfect

Summary: I was torn between XM and Sirius (rougly the same service & price). Neither stood out as the clear winner. It was the price/performance ratio of the Delphi radios that tipped me to XM. IMHO they were just better.
I don't find the tuning wheel to be as big a negative as previous reviewers.
I've read that the FM modulator doesn't provide as good sound quality as a direct connect, but the sound is plenty good enoungh for my middle-aged ears, and the convenience makes up for any reduction.
The Home use antenna really requires an open southern sky. It really doesn't like stuff like walls in the way. Rain can cause problems as well especially if your antenna placement is marginal to begin with.
Inesxpensive, EASY to set up, works well in the car, works as advertised, easy to use. No buyer's remorse on my part. I am satisfied.4 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

coolest thing ever

Summary: This thing has to be the coolest thing ever in the history of cool things that have ever been cool. I bought it yesterday along with the home kit and it is way better than I expected. The car kit worked great and was super easy to install. I am getting great reception and I just put the antenna on the dash. I also don't get what people are talking about with problems with the fm modulator. mine works so well that I am using it in the house as well. Right now I am listening to it on the clock radio in my guest room, but it also works great on my book shelf system and on my main stereo receiver as well. I couldn't be happier. Way better than I imagined it would be.

I like the product so much I bought the company.
Pros: No commercials, great sound, multiple choices, different music for every mood. I like to listen to news and business stations. XM provides me with many options.
Cons: Needs a remote. Would like real time stock quotes. Controls are too small.

Beware of FM Modulator
Pros: Everything is pro except for the FM modulator.
Cons: It doesn't matter how good the unit is if the FM modulator transmits static in all of the music (like it does in my car). I went to a local car audio store and they stopped selling these because there were so many complaints of static in the music. I ac

Great unit, nice features, disappointing XM sound quality

Summary: I was happy when I found a Roady2 for $10 - brand new. The unit was easy to operate and get used to, even without taking eyes off the road. I especially like how you can change the color of the display and buttons, hold a button to memorize the artist/title of the song you are listening to, and the joggle wheel to switch through channels.
It's a bit annoying to have 3 cables going into the unit. It would have been nice if Delphi had made one universal cable, maybe a foot long, which could have merged the antenna, power and audio out, somewhere hidden - e.g. behind the dash of the car.
As neat and well-designed as the radio is, what a shame it was to discover the sound quality of XM after they nearly doubled the number of channels. Obviously, they are focusing on quantity rather than sound quality. You can expect less than FM quality, very little treble - a noticeable difference. I am using direct cable connection; not the FM modulator. The live feed from their website is very misleading as it's streaming in perfect quality, but not the one coming down from the satellites.
When I complained about this, I got a canned response back, telling me how "audio experts" and a panel of listeners had found XM to be better than FM. Sure - but that was in 2002; long before they switched focus to quantity to compete with Sirius.
I doubt that the competition has better sound so there is no point in switching. Best is probably to wait for better times, pop in a CD or use your good, ol' MP3 player. -

Summary: the player itself is not of much consequence to me. it is sturdy, and functions without glitches. the display is clear, and tells you everything you need to know. an ipod it aint. if the device itself is more important that the music, yes there are nicer units aesthetically. its all the same content, which is what im after. no commercials. never the same playlists. HUGE variety of music, news, sports, and entertainment. if you spend any amount of time in a car you'd be crazy not to get one of these. this unit will suffice, and for 30$ it is well worth it. the only upside to the other more espensive units is you can listen back 30 minutes if you miss something. a luxury. but with 150 stations, who really cares.
