The good: XM Radio satellite receiver; TiVo-like 30-minute replay; built-in wireless FM transmitter; improved menu display; more than 65 commercial-free music channels plus news, sports, and talk channels; remote.
The bad: The buttons and controls are a little too small; requires separate purchase for car, home, or boombox adapters.
The bottom line: Smaller, cheaper, and more capable, Delphi's new and improved SkyFi2 XM radio is markedly better than its predecessor.

I never thought satellite radio would be worth it, I was wrong.
by Melysintat on March 20, 2005
Pros: Excellent sound, great stations, great features, easy to use.
Cons: Even though it has an FM modulator built in the quality of sound is poor for cars without the special $50 adapter for a direct connection if you don't have a tape player to plug into.

Summary: It's amazing the difference in satellite and regular radio. Prior to purchasing I tried the free 3 day online trials of both XM and Sirius, and found I liked the XM stations much better. I love the uncensored and commercial free radio, and the choices it has. The sound is excellent, and I've also bought the home kit for home use with my stereo. It's easy to move, easy to connect, and easy to use. Whatever the style of music, talk radio, news, comedy, etc., that you love, you'll find it here. And this receiver does everything it says it can with a clear and easily readable display. The car antenna is barely noticable on top of my car, and even the house one doesn't have a direct southern view and still has excellent reception.

Outstanding receiver
by bigj2345 on June 5, 2005
Pros: Compact, easy to move from vehicle to vehicle to home, great sound quality
Cons: LCD DIsplay only in one color, not an all-in-one solution out of box

Summary: This unit has kept me in the car longer. Trips are more enjoyable now. I spend most of my workday in the car and having more options to listen to is a real treat. The SkyFi2 is a clean, easy to use unit. It comes with flexible mounting options out of the box. Would like the large LCD display to be able to change colors but it is easy to ready at night or during the day. However, there is no backlight for the menu and display buttons above the presets. This makes controlling the SkyFi2 difficult for newbies to control at night. Remote control is nice and seems the right size for a car.

Great sound, great programming, no ads!
Pros: Lots of choices for music and talk, no commercials (except for the comedy channels), great sound - I hardly listen to regular radio anymore
Cons: No way to "scroll through" presets with one button

Great, but why did they turn down Tuneselect?
Pros: Great sound, expanded # of tuneselect songs, added ability to use tuneselect to notify you of the specific song or the artist and any song.
Cons: Tuneselect beep is now VERY quiet, often will be missed. Per phone conversation with Delphi, many customers said previous beep(I'm upgrading from a Roady) was too loud... what a mistake...

Cons: I don't have anything bad to say about the unit, except that it should of come with a carry bag. I am using a crown royal bag for my receiver and remote.

Worth Every Penny--A "Must Have" For Commuters

Summary: This is my first foray into satellite radio. I've been blown away by the excellent programming and the sound quality (on an Audi/Bose system). I auditioned XM and Sirius online before buying and liked the XM lineup the best. Excellent stereo separation and the subwoofer really kicks. The SkyFi 2 is very nicely made and intuitive to use. The cables running to the power supply and cassette adapter are annoying, but that's certainly not Delphi's fault. Two quibbles: I was not aware that the sound quality is significantly better using the cassette adapter rather than the FM modulator. If so, I might have purchased the cheaper Sky Fi (the replay features are not that big a deal to me). Second, the function button labels aren't lit so at night I either have to turn on an overhead light until I learn them.
Have not tried running it through my home system or the boom box, but will soon.
This will make car trips and office background music a breeze.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Nice receiver, sounds good
Pros: The skyfi2 works great with the built in fm modulator. It is a snap to get this thing installed and only takes about fifteen minutes. Activating is a breeze, and the sound quality is just fine if you have a stereo with a graphic equalizer. The midrange
Cons: Can't turn up volume on the Skyfi2 without distortion. Reception not all that great around tall buildings.

How did I get by without this?
Pros: MOSTLY no commercials. Great play lists. Comedy 151 is on so much, I don't know whats happening in the world.
Cons: Remote is slow. No-commercial channels advertise for XM. I find this annoying, I aready subscribe.

Party/roadtrip must-have
Pros: New to satellite radio and loving it. So what if the sound isn't perfect; at least it's not Usher/Avril/Alicia every 10 minutes!! Buying the extras for home, car, and boombox is still less expensive (and less labor-intensive) than downloading mp3s.
Cons: Car installation booklet is intimidating, even for the otherwise talented. Will be heading to Kenny's Kar Kare with a quickness.

Great Sound-Polished Look
Pros: Sounds great even using modulator.Good reception.Lighting dimmer works well. The polished chrome look makes it look more expensive than the other models I looked at.
Cons: Dial sometimes over responds.
