JUNK, NOT EVEN WORTH $20, GET A BETTER ONE !
by keith2147891 on September 10, 2006
Pros: THE DIAL KNOB / DECENT SOUND QUALITY

Summary: I TOTALLY ENJOY SIRIUS. I BOUGHT THIS TO TRY OUT SIRIUS. THE FIRST ONE FAILED IN 2 WEEKS, WOULD LOSE ALL PRESETS EVERY TIME YOU TURN IT OFF. THEN IT WOULD COME ON TO THE WEATHER. CIRCUIT CITY GLADLY REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THE 2ND ONE 2 MONTHS LATER. I LOST THE RECEIPT AND XACT WONT HELP. EVEN IF THEY WOULD, THE SHIPPING COSTS WOULD BE MORE THAN I THINK THE RADIO IS WORTH. LOOK FOLKS, YOUR GONNA LOVE SIRIUS, JUST SPEND $50 MORE AND GET A GOOD ONE WITH REWIND. THERE IS A REASON THESE XTR3'S ARE GOING CLEARANCE. THEY ARE JUNK.

Great radio at a low price

Summary: I needed a second antenna for my wife's car and I found the XTR3CK in Circuit City with the car kit for $20! That was $5 cheaper than the antenna alone! What a great little radio. you can set it up so the rotary dial only scrolls through the presets. On mine, I have 36 stations preset and I can scroll thorough them very quickly. Not much in the way of advanced features but I don't need to record in my car.

Works perfectly

Summary: I did a lot of research as this was my first unit. I decided on Sirius after reading comments here and on Crutchfield. I am an SEC sports fan and XM carries the ACC.
I got this unit home and spent about 30 minutes trying different mounting spots. It is very versatile in that regard. My dash has a compartment for storing CDs and I found this unit fits very snugly. I didn't even use the suction cups or the glue pad. I could have mounted it just about anywhere.
I ran the wires temporarily and put the antenna at the rear of my roof on the driver's side. (I have a sport wagon) The power cord is draped down to the ashtray but it works for now. This weekend I will go back and hide the wires better. I don't need to pay anyone 70 bucks to do this.
Now to SQ. I was expecting the worst but I was pleasantly surprised. FM channel 88.1 is the default and it works perfectly. Great sound without direct wiring. I think this must depend upon the quality of your car's radio and the power of the FM transmitter in the unit, but I drove all over Memphis, TN and I didn't hear any static, drops, buzzes or any other noises. Perfect reception with sound quality approaching that of a CD and certainly as good as my FM radio. In my case direct FM wiring won't be necessary.
Another knock I have read is the remote. In my opinion this remote is a jewel. The buttons are logically placed so once you know where they are you don't even have to look down. The display is in my line of sight so I can change the channel and keep my eyes on the road. The compartment has a door so I can close it and once I get the wiring hidden no one will know I have a satellite radio. (well, except for the antenna on the roof.)
What this unit lacks I don't need. Pause and rewind are great features but not worth another 100 dollars. Plus, those units are bulky and this one is trim.
Design = A
Features = B
Ease of use = A
Sound Quality = A+
Reception = A
I'd recommend this unit any day to anyone. In fact, I may buy my wife one and add her to my account for 6.99. -

Get this until the new units come out!

Summary: I've had Sirius for over a year now. My other unit is hard wired into my other car, I needed a new unit. Having just returned from CES I know there are some good portable units coming out in the next six months. Everything else on the market is either poorly rated, like the S50 or too big. I want a portable that I can use at home as well as in multiple cars. Pioneer will have something soon as will other manufacturers. In the mean time this unit is as good as the two others I've had. It's small, easy to place and I had it up and running in minutes. Save your money until the better units come out and buy this as a great stop gap or else live without Howard!

Great Product for Low Price
by KookyKat on January 10, 2006
Pros: Compact. Plug and play makes it easy to listen to at home and in the car. Great FM reception. You can place on visor, dash or windshield.
Cons: Need to aim remote directly and close to get it work. Basic model without cool features as recording shows for later listening. Antenna and power adapter cords on the dash.
Summary: I got this for Christmas from my husband, he knows I love Howard! Went to buy the home kit and found it on sale for $17.99! Great bang for ...
Summary: I got this for Christmas from my husband, he knows I love Howard! Went to buy the home kit and found it on sale for $17.99! Great bang for a budget!
The FM in the car is very clear. Only thing is we had to mount the home antenna outside on the roof. Even if it is in a window, you can easliy loose the signal.
I listen to a lot of radio, talk and music, so for me the subscription price of $12.95 works out.
