  WORST Sirius Receiver EVER

  Pros: Easy use of design, nice option, easy to read if mounted properly in the car.

  Cons: NEVER gets reception. I've placed the antenna on the top of my car, in an open field at the top of the highest point, and it was spotty reception.

  Summary: Terrible antena. I have a friend with a different Sirius brand model who sits down the hall from me at my office and he gets perfect reception. Our windows face the exact same directions, and we've even oriented our antenna to face the same way, he has full bars reception, my spend time "acquiring signal". I have no bones with Sirius, best service ever, and will probably never change, but I'm likely gonna seel this piece of junk on the web, and buy a different receiver.

  No cusumer support. Horrid reception.

  Pros: I purchased it through e-bay and only spend $46.00 with shipping on it, so I am not out that much.

  Cons: I despise the whole thing. This is the second XTR8. The first one lasted 16 months. This one was junk out of the package. I will never purchase anything from XACT again and recommend that everyone avoid wasting money on their products. JUNK JUNK

If you dont believe me, try sending an email to XACT. I would in the communications industry and if we treated our customers like this we would have closed our doors over 100 years ago, Run. Just run from XACT. Keep searching for a quality product, I know I will.

  Summary: I am rating this particular receiver, not the Sirius service. This is my first Sirius receiver. I used it for 7 months until I had trouble with it. The FM transmitter kept cutting out, so I sent the defective receiver to Xact (or their authorized representative). I waited 2-1/2 months to receive the replacement. The problem was that old Sirius receivers used an FM transmitter that was much too powerful to comply with FCC rules. They would no longer ship any old receivers, and had to build up a supply of newly manufactured receivers with much weaker transmitters before they could fulfill warranty requests. The FM transmitter on the new receivers is so weak, you will most likely need to wire it to what's known as an 'FM Modulator Relay' to your car stereo unless it has an auxiliary input. This is important to know!!
  
  Now to the features. My favorite feature is the fact that I can pause or rewind. It's like having Tivo for your radio, and it's the reason I chose this receiver. Also, you can program this unit with your favorite artist, song, sports team, or whatever. It will alert you when any of your favorites are on the air on any channel. Personally, I don't use this feature but I can see that it would be useful. There is even a 'jump' button that allows you to tune to the traffic/weather channel in your city with just one button.
  
  One downfall of this unit is that the remote seems to have very limited range. I must point it no more than two feet and straight at the receiver in order for it to work. For this reason, it's difficult to select a channel number directly. You need to press 4 keys to make this happen. I highly advise setting the presets if you're a channel changer. The XTR8CK does have a decent channel browsing feature though. Also, the display is fine unless there is bright sunlight. The display will show title and artist in large letters, which is useful for some people.
  
  If you're interested in the cheapest 'Replay' receiver Sirius offers then go with the XTR8CK. Otherwise, try another.
