Pros: Fast duplex scanner Fast OCR Includes TWAIN and ISIS drivers.
Cons: OCR is several years old. Old software interface. Lousy customer support.
Summary: I purchased the Epson GT S50 scanner in November 2010. It worked well, but produced dark lines on the sides or bottoms of pages when scanning multiple pages.

After calling Epson's customer support, they had me send it to their service center. The service center fixed it by ordering special pages to fix the scanner's alignment. However, under Epson's warranty policy, the service center could not ship me the scanner back unless I paid the return shipping (I paid to ship the scanner to the service center).
So, I had to pay an extra $30 for Epson to fix its own defective product. When I called Epson's customer service, they said that the limited warranty did not require them to pay for the shipping. I read the warranty. It only says that the customer is responsible for shipping the product to the service center. It says nothing about the cost to have the repaired product shipped back, even when it was a defective product.
The comparable Scansnap S1500, from Fujitsu, has a limited warranty that pays for the return shipping.
Pros: Front panel control buttons, TWAIN and ISIS drivers, LCD display, fast scanning and solid feel to its construction
Cons: Driver issues that show no sign of ever being fixed by Epson and frustrating tech. support and RMA process ruin what could be a great scanner

Summary: I ordered several of these for my workplace, to use with our document management system. Initially, everyone loved them -- but we've encountered a lot of problems over time. First off, when I scan color documents into our system (using either the ISIS or the TWAIN driver), the resulting TIFF files wind up saved with a corrupt byte in their headers. They still display just fine in the software, but printing them to a color-capable printer results in nothing but a page full of multi-colored garbage or a solid black block.
Second, one of the GTS-50's broke after only 60 days of use or so. Every page scanned in would come out in shades of blue, and it jammed up very regularly. I had to call long distance (no toll free number) for support and to request an RMA. The non-native English speaking support rep. on the line made me jump through lots of hoops before agreeing to exchange it, and after all that? The replacement scanner I received was clearly old and used. Yes, it worked -- but the case had big scratches in it and so forth. I'd expect another NEW product for a return only 2 months old!
Another issues we've been having with the GTS-50's is with sleep mode. If one of the PCs enters sleep, the driver doesn't seem to be able to re-establish a connection with the scanner when it wakes back up. You have to reboot the machine to get the scanner to work again.
I already own a Fujitsu S1500M on my Mac at home, and while my first impression was that the GTS-50 was a better product? I'm reconsidering that opinion now. The Fujitsu only uses proprietary drivers, and you have to buy a specific version for either PC or Mac -- but it's been working just fine for me for well over a year now.
Pros: The scanner is small enough for me to move it around easily from desk to desk. The software was very easy to install and there was no need to calibrate the unit once finished. The software is also easy to use. The scanner is very fast, even on high res
Cons: It's expensive and a little on the heavy side.
Summary: This unit is exactly what I was looking for to scan multiple documents quickly and efficiently. If you can afford the steep price tag, it's well worth it.

Pros: If it won't properly feed the paper I can think of no 'pros'. The only joy I would get from this scanner is dropping it off a 10 story building.
Cons: See above, the auto paper feed is very erratic, it works half the time with one page, probably on 10% with multiple pages. I may have just gotten a lemon but you'd think the repair center could have fixed it.

Summary: It will almost never feed multiple docs, I have to feed them in one by one and even that does not always work. They did cover a repair center drop off, but 100 sheets after I got it back it was back to it's old ways. It just is not worth messing with anymore. Buy the Fujitsu Scansnap, I only wish I'd bought it the first time around.
