Summary: This is a very adequate scanner for 1 to 20 page jobs. I keep it on my law office desk. If I want scan something bigger, I send it to our scanning dept. It is inexpensive but I would gladly pay more if the feeder were better. Unfortunately this is about the best on the market for now. I agree with all the other comments- good machine; feeder challenges. I use mine all day long. It is a little slow. I learned to feed docs bottom first or feed photocopies so as not to jam scanner when it detects dog-eared pages or staple holes. It is great for 8 1/2 x 111 inch paper but for photos, receipts, legal sized paper, it leaves some to be desired.I recommend it with these reservations.
Cons: Jams way too often. I'm scanning normal 8 1/2 by 11 paper, without folds or wrinkles and the scanner jams in the middle of the stack. Which in turn makes me have to start over at the beginning of the stack.
Pros: ADF Feature is great. I haven't had any jams yet and it is very fast.
Cons: Quality of the scan could be better.

Summary: I just recently purchased the Xerox Documate 510 Scanner. I had read several reviews before hand and not all of them were good. However, I have only had my scanner for about four days and I love it! I bought it for office use and I absolutely love the ADF feature. That was really a selling point for me. I think the quality of the scan at 300 DPI could be a little better, however I do like the speed of the scanner. I would recommend this scanner to anyone who does basic scanning and has multiple pages to scan at one time. I had heard of people having problems with the ADF regarding jamming, but I have not had any problems with that at all yet.
Pros: Ease of set up; software; minimal jams; ADF up to 50 page
Cons: Speed but the speed is relevant to price paid

Summary: I was pleased to know of the partnership with Visioneer regarding this unit. I was also pleased with the software included with the scanner including the very easy to use Paperport 9 Deluxe. I have had the scanner for 2 days and have already run 1000 pages through the ADF with only 8 jams that really didn't minimize performance. It only meant that I had to be a bit more precise when loading the stacked documents. All in all, I am pleased that I didn't have to spend twice the money to acquire a product that is satisfying my needs to scan in stacks of laser printed reports on a daily basis.
Pros: Quiet and quick, with an intelligent software interface.
Cons: Side guides on ADF paper feed should be longer, to prevent scanned pages from tilting or feeding in at an angle. Occasionally this occurs, but longer side guides would totally prevent this.
Cons: Software is very difficult and tedious, and consumes resources

Summary: Scanner is nice but the Software is awful and makes scanner unusable to me. Startup Software sits in system tray, cannot start up and close program like most programs. So it eats up your system resources and there is nothing you can do about it according to Xerox tech support. Not easy technical support available, for obvious reasons. Good programs do not need difficult tech support. Could not even scan to Scansoft PDF. The Nuance Paperport v11 cannot read all PDF's and hangs up the program on the PDF's. Xerox said so... So I have to reinstall the software every time I go to a directory that it hangs up on because it remembers the last directory. Pretty annoying, since it took me a month to fiddle with it I cant take it to the store for a refund. Seems like I wasted $300.00.
Bottom line the programmers went too far with this and should have used the KISS principle. Paperport needs work, after v11?!!! Stay away from this product!
