Summary: If you need to use a cassette adapter, this is the one to use. I've tried them all (Belkin, Radio Shack, etc..) and Sony is the only one of high quality. All the others have variable sound output depending on how you 'wiggle' the adapter in your player. The Sony sits perfectly in your player (auto and home stereo) and will NOT wiggle, nor will it faulter from giving you great sound every time. I use with my iPod and it sounds as good as my CD deck! 10 of 10. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, and is the best quality available. That is why Apple chooses this one over Belkin.

Summary: The buzzing noise that some people have reported is most likely the car's cassette player and not the sony adapter. I have had this adapter for 12 yrs now (right! from the days of the first portable cd players) in 3 cars and no issues (with multiple cd players, mp3 players, ipods, cell phones). I am getting the buzz now in my toyota camry. I found out that the problem is actually one of the 2 heads in the cassette player. Actually now even regular cassettes don't play well in one direction. So, not fault of the adapter. Toyota factor cassette players are junk.

Summary: I bought the Sony cassette adapter on the strength of reviews here. It took two long weeks in shipping from Sony to get the thing. Plugging in the adapter to the cassette player makes a noise that sounds like an electric razor. It is horrible! The unit sounds good if you turn it WAY up and drown out the buzz. The piece of junk adapter I got from Dynex is better than the Sony. This adapter is a big disappointment.

I tried the Sony Cassette Adapter in a friend's car and it did not have the horrible machanical buzzing I had in my car's cassette player. The mechanical noise was nonexistant in his car. Both car's are Toyota's, so the cassette players should be similar. I will have to find the problem with my particular player. I now rate the Sony Cassette Adapter as an 8 out of 10.

I tried the Sony Cassette Adapter in a friend's car and did not have the horrible mechanical buzz present in my car. Both cars are Toyota's, so both players should be similar. I will have to chase down the problem that exists with my cassette player. I now rate the Sony Cassette Adapter 8 out of 10. Sound quality was good, but not perfect.

Better than expacted

Pros: Sound quality is better than I expacted, easy to find and relatively cheap. Good companion with my Ipod.
Cons: Sometime I have to insert into cassette twice for better sound.

mediocre sound quality

Pros: easy to use, no batteries, better than teh FM Transmitters I've tried.
Cons: Sound quality varies, wiggling the casstte changes it, but no way to maintain optimal sound.
