Not what software should be...
by caxenie on December 9, 2009
Pros: Initially cheaper than Symantec (now I see why)
Cons: Worst customer service.
Worst program in general.

Summary: I'm the I.T. admin for a small to medium size company and I recently purchased the Enterprise version of CA which included Total Threat Management, Gateway Security and Host Based Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS). All of it described in one word, CRAP! Unfortunately we wasted about $700 for a yearly subscription... never again.
1) Customer Service: Before I bought the Enterprise suite I was told by a TigerDirect.com sales guy for CA, that we could get tech support 24/7 and even have a dedicated tech install the suite remotely or atleast help with anything I might need help with.
Not so much, every time I've called I've waited atleast 45 minutes before I'd have to hang up and just wait for them to get back to me. And when I finally got to talk to someone, I could barely understand them through their broken English and terrible accents.
2)Software: To get things started off great, they didn't even send me the software on time. I waited 1 month before I called back requesting that they send it again. When I finally got it, they didn't even send me the latest version, so I ended up having to download everything anyway. I won't go into all of the details of what's wrong with this program, so here are the main points:
-Not user friendly, I've installed it the same way on many systems and it will run differently on identical systems.
-If you're considering upgrading to Enterprise Suite then plan for headaches! Not straight-forward whatsoever. Even the implementation documentation doesn't explain the necessary requirements to properly install.
I've been in I.T. for about 7 years and this is the first time I've ever commented on any program before.
I'd rather not have any security software than to have CA installed on my network and on everybody's systems!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Just Say NO!
by ParthenonGenesis on October 14, 2009
Pros: I do like the Clean Cache Now option for quick dumping. I wish all AV software had this option.
Cons: Everything else. I am an IT and I work with computers everyday. I have seen less problems with AVG free downloads then I have with this poorly made product.

Summary: I enjoy my trips to CompUSA when I go to pick up the occasional computer part, and I always found their employees to be well educated untill I allowed one of them to talk me into buying the CA security suite for the office I work for.
I was happy to give Norton the dump from our office and the installation of CA was not really all that difficult from my perspective, but I can see how it could be difficult for the average user.
From day 1 of this softwares installation the office had problems. We were infested by 3 different viruses in 2 months time, one of which appeared on my computer and destroyed my Master Boot Record (and I am a cautious person when navigating online). The computers now run very slow and a number of programs become unresponsive. When Microsoft sends auto updates that require a restart the computers (all of them) freeze up on the exit screen. I wont even mention the extreme F.U.B.A.R involed in fixing it so outlook could receive mail.
From the moment it first turns on you hear a nice crackle added to the Windows welcome screen jingle. It is a poorly designed peice of software and it has been an IT nightmare... although it does give me job security.
I have not lost faith in CompUSA, but I will never buy the software they are peddling without research.
I wish I could take every box off the store shelves and sell it to the terrorist to screw up all their computers, or perhaps sell it to 3rd world countries to burn for fuel... But not here! This product is un-American. CA makes baby Jesus cry and kills unicorns. Just Say NO!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Uses a ton of resources
by 9620usowner on October 13, 2009
Pros: It came free with my ISP. I guess you get what you pay for.
Cons: CA Internet Security Suite slowed down my entire system dramaticaly. I have 20mbps download speeds and my internet was running like dial-up. I uninstalled it after an hour of use.
Summary: This is a terrible product. It uses a ton of resources and slows down your system and causes major frusteration for the user.

Cons: This software will slow your pc to almost unusable. It also changes the file extensions of your downloads and attachments to .efw which is not recognized by the system. There is nothing user friendly about this software. Don't waste your money.

Summary: I got this program and updates free from my internet provider TimeWarner/Roadrunner, but I believe it has a conflict with the wireless router program Network Magic of which it seems to not be resolvable. The last update that I just got 2011 version just locked up my internet access constantly so much that I had to do a hard shutdown with the power switch and then restart to SYSTEM RESTORE to uninstall it to an earlier date. Avoid this program, period.
