- We like that the HS250h packs a good deal of cabin tech and luxurious refinements, but we wonder if the decidedly average fuel economy is worth the additional complexity of the hybrid drive train.

2010 Lexus HS250h price range: $34,200.00
- Reviewed by: Antuan Goodwin

The good: The Lexus HS250h features a high level of available cabin and safety tech. The Remote Touch interface, and its haptic feedback, let users navigate its menus by touch. The current generation Hybrid Synergy drive's selectable modes let users customize the efficiency/performance balance.
The bad: At only 34 mpg combined, the HS250h doesn't exactly deliver stellar fuel efficiency. Some users may find the Remote Touch interface to be distracting. No hard drive space is available for music storage.
The bottom line: We like that the HS250h packs a good deal of cabin tech and luxurious refinements, but we wonder if the decidedly average fuel economy is worth the additional complexity of the hybrid drive train.

by cp94542 on March 6, 2012
Pros: Paint, looks all angles very good. MPH I don't care about the city I get 44 mpg on the freeway that's my commute. Fill up 10 gallons regular every two weeks, smiling to the bank. Interior finish could not be better feels good controls lots of fun!
Cons: Don't know of any after a month of driving
Summary: Smiles at the gas pump! Car looks ' a step above' the rest in the parking lot. Controls; heads up NAV system awesome! Bluetooth phone, IPOD music , USB connect perfect!Never ...

Acceleration from 75MPH to 100 is the sweet spot cars disappear in the rear view mirror quick. Handles very well. My commute is so relaxing now I actually enjoy the hour ride in the perfect ergo seat! -
Surprising; More I Drive My HS 250h, More I Like it!
by jamesdgodfrey on April 24, 2011
Pros: The key feature for city driving, beyond the low emissions, low fuel usage at city speeds, is the often overlooked immediate access to acceleration because you have 100% torque the moment you step on the accelerator! Both the electric motor and gasoline
Cons: There are NO real cons per se!
This is NOT a Prius, as some have suggested, NOR is it a Camry in disguise, as others have suggested.

Summary: I reside in TORONTO, Ontario, Canada and during the month of February, attended the Toronto International Auto Show. The show was BETTER than the past 2 years BUT not as good as 2000 - 2006.
Regardless, I noted that ALL of the manufacturers, Audi and Mercedes included, have "cheapened" the interior finishing of their vehicles. The ONLY two manufacturers that seem to be keeping the quality up are Lexus and BMW.
Last year, I almost switched to a BMW 328 xi but opted to acquire another Lexus, a Lexus HS 250h. I like my car - VERY much; the hybrid technology has impressed me, more than I thought it would. The finishes are interesting too, as they are primarily composed of recycled materials, so I have liked it for many reasons.
While at the show, I also noted another all Hybrid by the Lexus division of Toyota, the CT 200h; what a GREAT car! Well built, nicely finished and AWESOME pricing. VERY impressed! The new Prius at Toyota caught my attention again as well! Toyota is ON their game again and is shows!
Not to hype hybrid technology, nor Toyota products but I have been asked, more than with any other car I have owned as an adult, how I liked my Lexus Hybrid?

I replaced a 2006 Lexus GS 300 AWD, 12 months ago, with this Lexus, a 2010 HS 250h. Surprisingly, now that I have driven it for some time, it is turning out to be one of my favourite cars ever, unlike the GS which turned out to be one of my least favourite. The HS 250h has been a pure inspiration both technologically and in terms of anticipated drive quality versus real world experience which has surpassed my wildest expectations. Great car, with better than expected performance, handling and all around driving pleasure.
Now that the dedicated hybrid units have been on the road at Lexus in the form of my HS 250h model, even your competitor in the car ratings area, Edmunds, is giving them great reviews.
As well, the original hybrid vehicle by Toyota out of Japan, the Prius, is now over a decade old and they are holding up "like new" over the decade.
That speaks to an ongoing commitment to quality! -
A Pricey Disappointment
by Gubbins48 on September 10, 2010
Pros: Fit & finish; road noise fairly low; good instrument night lighting
Cons: Hybrid tech not worth the price in fuel econ; engine drone on acceleration; graunchy feeling brake with inadequate effectiveness; ride harshness on small impacts; poor small item storage; bizarre-feeling lane keep assist; novocaine steering feel.
Summary: A huge mistake for me; this car has virtually no driver involvement and too many sacrifices in driveability to get only minimal fuel economy benefits. A gimmick-laden excuse for what ...

A Prius would've been a better choice and saved me a lot of $$.
Poor cargo volume, cramped rr passenger leg room...this car is the answer to a question nobody asked.

by vtanku on January 17, 2010
Pros: Superb ride quality, best in class safety, great value, best in class cabin, great music system & conenctivity (USB, BT), decent mileage, radar cruise & lane keep assit works good
Cons: No accessories availlable, no DVD audio (ML add-on is very expensive), can hook up 1 phone at a time, 34 mpg is not good enough, rear leg room is good for kids only, the LKA & Radar cruise need refinement, complex voice command set-up, deep menus
Summary: Superb ride quality, best in class safety, great value, best in class cabin & safety features. The electronics are working good (but short of expectation).

Not your Dad's Lexus....but unique in its offerings.
by rbgliny on September 8, 2009
Pros: Gas mileage is good at 34mpg using premium (haven't tried regular unleaded yet). Comfort level is pretty good in regards to it's size. Steering and acceleration response is very good. The gadgets is what makes this car fun.
Cons: Sound level at highway speeds is louder than what I expected.

Summary: I have had this car for about two weeks now. It is fully loaded and probably a rare breed at this initial build of the car. It has the Pre-Collision System with Drive Attention Monitor, Park Assist with front and back sensors, Mark Levinson sound system, Remote Touch, Lane Keeping Assist, LED headlamps, Front View camera, Navigation System, Glass Breakage Sensors, Enform Service availability, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Remote Start, Heads Up Display (which is just awesome!)...and much more. I don't think there is much that could be added to this car if anything at all. The price of this car was just a hair below $50,000. Since this car is a lot smaller than any other Lexus models (excluding the IS), I believe this car needs to have the bells and whistles to justify its purchase.and make it more interesting and satisfying in the long run. I have grown to really appreciate the interior design of this car than what my initial reaction was when I first test drove the HS250h. I also find that the car responds very well in the steering and acceleration departments. Every function of the car is within reach and very intuitive. I think this car is great for short and medium range distances from home as it might be a little noisy for longer hauls. All in all, you can't go wrong buying the Lexus brand as I have owned them for years and have become a loyal customer. If you wan to go 'green' and can afford to buy into the Lexus brand than I highly recommend this model. I would also suggest taking a test drive in the Lexus RX450h, as a reasonably equipped 450h is about the same prices as a fully equipped HS250h and a lot more quieter and comfortable and almost as 'green'.
