CNET editors' review
2011 Buick Regal CXL price range: $26,245.00
- Reviewed by: Antuan Goodwin
- Reviewed on: 10/15/2010
The good: The Buick Regal CXL is a good-looking sedan with smart handling and a full-featured infotainment system. Hard-drive-based navigation; DVD playback with 5.1 surround; XM satellite radio, weather, and traffic; iPod and MP3 playback; and an innovative capability to pause live radio broadcasts for up to 20 minutes round out a solid cabin tech package.
The bad: Power delivery in the 2.5-liter-engine model leaves much to be desired and doesn't seem well matched to the six-speed automatic transmission. The physical controls of the infotainment system aren't very well integrated.
The bottom line: The 2011 Buick Regal CXL is a handsome ride that offers many of the tech features we like, but an odd cabin control scheme and uninspiring power train hamper our recommendation.

Love the interior, stylelous body, handles well.
by buick2010 on March 13, 2011
Pros: Gets good gas mileage and handles well in the snow. Trunk size is a good size as well.
Cons: Do not offer an AWD version nor automatic start.
Summary: I would definitely buy another Buick Regal. I'm glad they focused on manufacturing a car for the younger generation. I hope they continue to do so.

Great car with a very European feel. Great features
by chume2580 on November 2, 2010
Pros: Excellent style and feel inside and outside. Lots of functions and features and highway driving is fun and responsive. I thought I would want the turbo after trading in my domestic with a 2.7 engine but the 2.4 has been very good and great mileage
Cons: Missing a couple of small things such as built in garage door opener or a little more space in the console for storage. No back-up camera but it does have sensors.

Summary: Overal this is a great car and I am thrilled to have one that was built in Germany as it will be rare after production moves to Canada. Drive and handling is smooth and the ride is very quite. Fuctions and locations are well thought out. Very comparable to BMW, Mercedes, VW and other luxury sedans. I expect that this car will become very popular has production levels increase. Well rated in Europe and it looks like it will be equally prized in North America.

Not sure how I feel about this car.
by regalile59 on June 15, 2013
Pros: great looks, I like the interior, standard features are plenty.
Cons: In the 3 years I've owned this car the electric seat motor failed, the seat warmer failed, the transmission failed, and the lumbar support failed. All at different times.

25 and Just bought my first car, the Buick Regal.
by Jephri on May 17, 2011
Pros: After months of researching midsized family sedans my wife and I came to the conclusion that the Buick Regal is the best car for the money hands down. It's a couple grand more than a loaded Camry or Fusion but feels like it should cost 10 grand more.
Cons: The 4 cylinder lacks a little pop. Go with the Turbo, it makes this car handle like a dream and lends more confidence when passing or merging.
Option for a backup Camera would be nice.
More front storage would be a plus.Summary: I just bought this car this week. I am in love! It handles better than any other midsize car that we test drove. The fit and finish is impeccable (Thanks ...
Summary: I just bought this car this week. I am in love! It handles better than any other midsize car that we test drove. The fit and finish is impeccable (Thanks to the German design and production) the interior luxurious and the Turbo charged 4 makes it a blast to drive.
I think the review on CNET was way off base. This car branded as the Opel Insignia was the 2009 European car of the year, for good reason it is gorgeous. So what if the GPS controls are strange; skip the GPS, save a few grand and you have a near perfect car.
My favorite things about the car-
-Fast turbo charged four (acceleration from a stop is good, but where the car really shines is between 40-80 MPH, where the acceleration is exhilarating)
-High quality interior materials. The leather is top notch, soft touch rubbers and satin finish plastics cover the dash. Very sophisticated styling that won't look dated for years to come.
-Sexy body. This car looks hot(mine is granite grey). People keep asking what I paid for it and are shocked when I tell them the price. If you are looking at the Accord, Camry or Fusion add this to your list. For a couple grand more, you get a way better car!
-12 way adjustable leather seats with heaters and lumbar support. I could sleep over night in the front seat I love it.
-120 volt outlet. Why don't more car come with these?!? so handy for my laptop or the DVD player for my son and no stupid adapter to deal with.
-Dual climate control (the best way to maintain a happy marriage) Yeah, and it is a standard feature on all models.
-Oh so quiet! The car is so nice to travel in. Calls and music sound great and don't have to fight to drown out engine/wind noise.
-Pop open trunk. When you open the trunk with the remote it swing all the way open, really nice when you have an armful of groceries.
-Easy access trunk pass through in the middle of the back seat.
-Tilt and telescopic steering wheel. Easy to adjust with a wide range of options.
-Media controls on wheel simple and uncluttered. They do what you expect them to do, easy and elegant.
-More leg support in rear seat than in any other car we drove. The longer seat bottoms make for a more comfortable ride for your passengers.
-No factory made cord needed for my iPod. I hate having to buy extra adapters, thanks for letting me use my standard USB cable.
-Information screen in central console. So useful! displays current MPG, tire pressure, trip information, how long until you need an oil change and lots more information.
Well, that's it for now. I'll add further things as i get to know the car better. I have only owned it for a week. -
Worst car I have ever owned
by leneggs on June 20, 2011
Pros: Car looks great both inside and out
Cons: Problems since day one...air conditioner stopped working the second week I had the car. The transmission shifts like a tank in the low gears. Now the engine bangs when you first start the car for about 3 - 5 seconds.
Summary: I wouldn't buy this car again for anything....I tried to buy American only to find out that the only part of this car built in the USA is ...
Summary: I wouldn't buy this car again for anything....I tried to buy American only to find out that the only part of this car built in the USA is the engine...the transmission is Chinese and everything else is built and the car is assembled in Germany. So the transmission can be added to the long list of Chinese stuff that is garbage....dry wall, tooth paste, poison milk, lead painted children's toys, etc etc etc

Attracts the young buyers.
by marc1093280 on November 13, 2010
Pros: Practical in its own sense.
Cons: I would have rather gotten a Lacrosse.
Summary: Not sure what to say at this point.
I would have rather that they would have not made this car.
