Great car and stated fuel economy is easy to achieve.
by Shadow II on June 12, 2011
Pros: Fuel economy for me is 38.7mpg with mixed driving.
Cons: On rough roads the road noise can become more noticeable. The 16" rim, tire combination is much quieter than the 17" option.

Summary: Replaced my 10 year old Civic and I'm very happy so far. Originally planned on the 2012 Civic but availablity was limited and after test driving the Elantra the search was over. Feels like a larger car interior wise than it really is and everything is laid out nice and is user friendly. I purchased the GLS with the nav pkg and backup camera and bluetooth which weren't on my list of wants but love it now and wouldn't part with it. The only wish is for a power drivers seat and a spare tire. The power seat wouldn't be an option on the Civic either but the spare...disappointed in Hyundai for that one. Overall it's a quality ride with good fuel economy only not quite up to the estimates given for city driving.

Behold, the new "Corolla"
by drewski59 on June 11, 2011
Pros: Looks, Interior Refinement, Spacious
Cons: Nowhere close to EPA gas mileage in real-world driving, Weighs too much, Strained Engine
Summary: Overall, this a huge improvement to the previous Elantra. A much more refined car with much better looks inside and out. Fit and finish is on par with Japanese brethren. ...

Summary: Overall, this a huge improvement to the previous Elantra. A much more refined car with much better looks inside and out. Fit and finish is on par with Japanese brethren. However, with the added refinement comes added weight, and the engine strains under acceleration. 50/50 city highway driving yields about 24mpg without a lead foot. Disappointing for a car that boasts about its fuel economy. And it's pretty boring to drive...get the Mazda3 if you want more excitement. Although this car would suit a highway commuter very well.
