  Great Looking, Gentle Ride Sedan that is Fun to Drive!

  Pros: Looks great. The nicest cloth interior of the 6 mid-size sedans we test drove. Once configured, my Samsung S3 syncs up perfectly every time and is fully functional from the steering wheel controls. Quietest interior of the cars we test drove.

  Summary: I own a manual 1.6L ecoboost SE. The only upgrade I added was the moonroof which includes the homelink system and the platinum tri-coat white. I previously owned a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder and prior to that a Nissan Maxima. I had been open to the idea of purchasing a Ford solely because of the way they handled themselves during the bailout years. I drive from northern MI to southern OH routinely and needed a vehicle that was going to get better gas mileage than my Pathfinder. My primary wants were gas mileage and a quiet cabin ride. We also test drove the Cruze, Passat, Optima, Accord and Altima. I narrowed it down to the Altima and Fusion. The Cruze had a nice price tag but ruled it out quickly because the cabin noise was probably the worst of the group, also the seats were extremely firm and uncomfortable. Pretty much a ditto on the Optima when it came to cabin noise but I love the Optima's looks! The Accord was nice but my choice was the sport model and you are pretty much limited to two body colors and black interior. Having had a black vehicle with black interior for the last 10 years I really wanted to go away from that. My husband owns a 2010 VW Jetta TDI (diesel) and gets incredible gas mileage but has had some expensive repairs already (oxygen sensor & glow plugs) but I took a look at the Passat for gas mileage purposes alone. It's a very nice looking car and by far the roomiest of the bunch (the back seat has amazing leg room) but it's steering seemed a little spongy to me, it lacked punch when excelerating and the dash setup is just plain boring to me. The Altima was a great car but the cloth interior was just hideous in my opnion and I wasn't really interested in paying the upcharge for leather. One bonus for the Altima is that it does come standard with remote start and dual zone auto climate control. Anyway, after it was all said and done my heart just loved the Fusion. The seats are comfy and the headrest can be adjust to fit just oh so perfectly which may seem like a small deal to some but is huge when your spending 6.5 hours on the road per trip. My phone syncs perfectly and I can even fast forward/reverse through my music playlist from my steering wheel controls which was something I couldn't do with the Altima. With the Altima you could control sound but if you wanted to ff to the next song you had to do it from the phone itself. The Fusion has a great ride for the price and next to the Passat had the quietest cabin in my opinion, though the Altima was good in that category as well. The rear leg room is average but with the front seats (which offer plenty of room) in a mid position my 6'3" husband can fit back there without his legs hitting the seatback. As stated the front seats offer plenty of room and again outside of the Passat my husband as a passenger had the most room in the Fusion by far. My manual is averaging 32mpg with mostly highway driving at speeds of 75mph. We had to order the manual but I love it. It's peppy to drive and I like being able to upshift/downshift as needed when it comes to getting on and off the highway. The dealer got us into this car (with moonroof option and paint upgrade) for under $24,000 (not including tags, registration, etc) so don't let the window stickers fool you. Go in and talk to them, they want to get this vehicle out on the road and are willing to negotiate price!

  Great car! Picked it up Feb 5 2013. No regrets so far

  2013 Fusion was luv at first site! S trim has all I need and is very afFORDable!
  Don't have an iPod but my antique LG ENV3 syncs up when I start the car every time.
  Have driven my 2003 F-150 from the midwest to Southern California and back 5 times in the last 4 years to visit family. I figure gas for the Fusion will cost less than 1/2 what I have been paying when I do the drive again this summer.

  Great looking and even more fun to drive

  Pros: I have the SE with the 1.6L EcoBoost engine and love the drive. I owned the sonata for a long time and I find this car to be better built and more fun overall.

  Cons: Bluetooth is not as natural as it should be for 2013. If you are using Sync for a phone(which we all do)and the new Bluetooth iPod it is very messy and lots of button pushing to get them both synced EVERY TIME you turn on the car, but it can be done.

  Windshield Wiper Odd Sweep

  Pros: Nice looking, comfortable adjustable headrest (back/forth as well as up/down)

  Cons: Wiper sweep pattern is outward->inward and not the normal parallel pattern. At max speed, wiper speed was too slow to clear water in a driving rain storm.

  Summary: I test drove this car in a rainstorm. You should be aware that the windshield wipers sweep from the outside->inward (like the cars from the 1960's) rather than the normal parallel sweep we are all used too. That really bothered me. In addition, even at top speed, I felt that the wipers could not clear water fast enough in a driving rain. These things may not bother you, but since you may not have the opportunity to test drive the car in the rain, you should be aware of this feature prior to purchase. Might be a good idea to use the windshield spray during your test drive to see if it bothers you.
