The good: The Verizon iPhone 4 offers a hot-spot feature not available on AT&T's device. Performance was better in most regards.
The bad: The Verizon iPhone 4 lacks world roaming and the ability to access voice and data simultaneously. The hot-spot feature didn't work with all devices.
The bottom line: The Verizon iPhone 4 has much in common with its AT&T counterpart, but varying features and different performance give it enough room to stand apart. It won't vastly change your iPhone experience, but we welcome the consumer choice that it brings.

Love Apple!!
by akaram14 on March 5, 2011
Pros: The pro is that it is apple! It is so user friendly its ridicuous! Great screen and there really is an "app" for everything! The touch screen is great, and the phone is so fast!
Cons: Few things I don't like that will hopefully come out with the upgrade coming. Explained below.
Summary: Cons: I don't like how you don't get time stamps on every single text. really annoying, almost considered jail breaking my phone to have this feature, but I ...
Summary: Cons: I don't like how you don't get time stamps on every single text. really annoying, almost considered jail breaking my phone to have this feature, but I decided against it. There is no LED light flash, which was weird switching from a blackberry, but you learn to get used to it. It sucks that you can't add memory or change the battery, but I havent even come close to using half of my memory (you can store things your not using at the time on your computer), and because of the kind of battery that is in the phone, you can charge it at any level during the day and it will still be "healthy" for the battery. I would recommend downloading a battery application, this helps keep your battery healthy longer.
Summary: I love this phone! It definitely took me a while to get used to the whole notification system, and having to download different email applications to get push notifications, but I'm getting used to it. Although so many people think that the droid is better than the iphone(and who knows it might be) I just love apple. Both phones are great and it really comes down to your own personal preference. I was debating between the droid thunderbolt and this phone, I finally decided on the iphone. why not? we have been waiting for this phone for FOREVER! why would we change our mind now. Just like any phone, you get used to everything. I do however love how the droids have the notifications on the top and you can slide them down. But the droid is an open source device, and things you download could be bad for your phone. Great great phone!! I would definitely recommend it!4 out of 8 users found this user opinion helpful.

Beautiful hardware, solid user experience, intuitive
by grasswaterer on February 12, 2011
Pros: The iOS is superior and very quick and consistent. Camera and video very nice interface and takes nice pics. Hardware is simply beautiful and very sturdy, almost heavy, but in a good way. Syncs nicely with all my other Apple products (via mobile me).
Cons: #1- No voice to text feature that Android has done quite well. Any field where you could type, you could speak it.
#2- Turn by turn voice navigation. Free.
#3- Really miss the missed call/alert notifications. Flashing LED's or sounds for missed callsSummary: iPhone (Verizon) update. Day 6.
In general I am quite happy but there are some things I am missing from the Android platform.

In general I am quite happy but there are some things I am missing from the Android platform.
#1- I really did get used to, and use, the voice to text feature that Android has done quite well. Any field where you could type, you could speak it. Not just texting.
#2- Turn by turn voice navigation. Free. I understand that the Verizon iPhone is getting, or has this feature but it is like 32 bucks a year. Android has this and really does it quite nicely for free.
#3- Really miss the missed call/alert notifications. On Android, you can set it to make a noise, say every 5 minutes, if you miss a text or a call. And-or the led will flash so that you can see you missed something without having to wake phone.
Not saying these are deal breakers, but I am a bit disappointed they aren't available, to my knowledge, on iPhone.
Things I really like...
The iOS is superior and very quick and consistent. Camera and video very nice interface and takes nice pics. Hardware is simply beautiful and very sturdy, almost heavy, but in a good way. Syncs nicely with all my other Apple products (via mobile me). Cool to change calendar on iPad and see it here.
That's the latest.
PS.. Typed all of this on the iPhone and it seems to be a better texting experience than Android.
Also... Any iPhone users put there that know of ways or apps to do any of the above...please let me know.2 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Far Better Than Advertised. Verizon's Best Phone Yet.
by stevendils on February 11, 2011
Pros: The phone is well built. It doesn't have the cheap plastic feel you see with some Droids. The reception is good. I haven't had one dropped call yet. The voice on both ends is great. The internet is plenty fast. Overall, a high-quality phone.
Cons: My biggest complaint would have to be the battery. If there is one thing Apple and the various Droid phone companies need to steal from Blackberry, it is the battery life. But the IPhone battery life is better than the Droids I've seen.
Summary: I have been a religious Blackberry user for many years. My wife has also loved her Motorola Droid. However, the Verizon IPhone 4 is by far the best phone I'...

Summary: I ORIGINALLY HAD A DROID AND I SWITCHED TO THE IPHONE AND THE IPHONE IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE DROID. The iPhone is faster than the droid and actually worth the money. Don't make the mistake of getting a Droid get the iPhone instead. The iPhone is smoother and doesn't freeze unlike the Droid which freezes all the time. The iPhone has a better camera and better camera application. More apps to choose from. Easier to use and very user friendly and very safe with the passcode and SIM Card lock. If your debating whether to buy an iPhone or a Droid get the iPhone.

Summary: I have owned many and I say many different cell phones. I owned an iPhone 3G when they first came out, many different types of androids and even unlocked iPhones. The iPhone 4 is by far one of my favorite phones. It is very easy to understand (androids have so many choices and are rather annoying when trying to change a setting), the keyboard is the fastest and easiest keyboard I have ever used. Swype gets annoying on the androids. I always had to go back and switch the mistakes it made and I got frusterated very easily.
Before I bought the iPhone 4 I did my research on all of the smartphones Verizon had to offer. My choice came down to the Droid Charge and the iPhone 4. I felt the droid was over priced for what you got and the battery life was so so. I have read many people complain about the iPhones battery life and I have not had any problems with it. It is just like any smartphone, you cannot expect a battery to last days. I check emails, facebook, web surfing, music and take lots of pictures and the phone lasts untill the evening.
I also read that many people were not happy that the iphone didnt have a flash and they are WRONG!! the flash is very bright and works great. I also found that you can set your wireless printer up on your phone and print dtraight from the phone. I thought that was great. I had been wanting all of my androids to be able to do that.
So if you are comtemplating between an android or iPhone I would say you will not be disappointed with the iPhone. Their operating system runs very smooth and never crashes (where with android my phone froze up daily and crashed constantly) and the interface is very easy to get used to.
Just make sure you do your research before any purchase, phones are to expensive to just throw your money around.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: As you can probably tell already, this is hands down the best phone I have ever owned. That may not mean a whole lot considering it's my first smartphone, but it's true. Despite the battery life sometimes being an issue and lacking 4G, I wouldn't trade this phone for any other phones out on the market. 6 months of being an iPhone user and counting.

Pros: * Great UI
* amazing display
* good camera with a surprisingly bright flash for an LED
* very decent (though, not perfect) suite of pre-installed apps
* unlimited mobile internet usageCons: * FaceTime still requires broadband
* odd rare app crashes now and then
* some technological limitations exist due to underlying CDMA network
* messaging app & notes apps missing some basic features
* slightly higher monthly fees from VerizonSummary: I have been a smartphone user for years -- but alas, a long held grudge against AT&T has kept the iPhone out of my reach. No longer, with ...
Summary: I have been a smartphone user for years -- but alas, a long held grudge against AT&T has kept the iPhone out of my reach. No longer, with Verizon's entrance! Not long after my Sprint contract concluded, I did the requisite comparison research between AT&T and Verizon, and decided that I wanted the unlimited internet access that Verizon offered me more then I wanted the slightly lower prices (and aloof, apathetic customer services reps) that I found at AT&T.
That decision made, I ordered two iPhones from Verizon, (one for myself and one for my wife) and I am quite satisfied with the results. The Verizon iPhone is only marginally different from the AT&T iPhones that friends and family members own, and the reception in my region is quite acceptable more often than not. (There is one spot in the house where we seem to have issues -- but AT&T reception is absolutely abysmal throughout the house, so still a pretty big win for Verizon.)
As for the phone itself... I am absolutely elated! I have been exploring the ins-and-outs of this phone for a little over three weeks now, and I still find myself twirking an amused smile, as I discover some neat little tidbit that never would have occurred to me, before owning an iPhone. Sometimes it's the little things, like how surprisingly effective the auto-correct feature is, and other times it's more breathtaking, like the HDR photography capabilities. In addition, the app store is absolutely every bit as good as Apple says it is; I have on several occasions found myself wondering, "Is there an app for that?" and I've only been disappointed once, so far. (No, I'm not going to reveal what I felt was missing... because I might very well considering writing it myself!)
So... satisfied? You bet'cha. Having experienced firsthand Apple's refined interpretation of what a cell phone should be, I very much doubt that I'll be going back to a non-Apple phone anytime soon.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Specifications
- Manufacturer: Apple
- Part number: iPhone 4 - 16 GB
- Description: While everyone else was busy trying to keep up with iPhone, Apple were busy creating amazing new features that make iPhone more powerful, easier to use, and more indispensable than ever. The result is iPhone 4. The biggest thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone. All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass - the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever. It's also recyclable. The 960-by-640 backlit LCD display boasts a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch, making it the highest-resolution phone screen ever. To achieve this, Apple engineers developed pixels so small - a mere 78 micrometers across - that the human eye can't distinguish individual pixels. That makes text remarkably sharp and graphics incredibly vivid. IPS technology also provides excellent color and contrast from almost any viewing angle. Created from Apple's own alloy, then forged to be five times stronger than standard steel, the CNC-machined band is the mounting point for all the components of iPhone 4. The band provides impressive structural rigidity and allows for its incredibly thin, refined design. It also functions as both iPhone 4 antennas. Apple engineers designed the A4 chip to be a remarkably powerful yet remarkably power-efficient mobile processor. With it, iPhone 4 can easily perform complex jobs such as multitasking, editing video, and placing FaceTime calls. All while maximizing battery life. iPhone 4 includes a built-in three-axis gyroscope. When paired with the accelerometer, it makes iPhone 4 capable of advanced motion sensing such as user acceleration, full 3D attitude, and rotation rate. Translation: More motion gestures and greater precision for an even better gaming experience. The iPhone 4 camera shoots gorgeous 5-megapixel photos and stunning HD video. And with its advanced backside illumination sensor, it captures beautiful images even in low-light settings. The built-in LED flash does double duty. When you're taking pictures, it works as a flash. When you're shooting video it can stay on to light up the scene. And on the front of iPhone 4, the built-in camera is perfect for making FaceTime calls and shooting self-portraits. While most phones have only one microphone, iPhone 4 has two. The main mic, located on the bottom next to the dock connector, is for phone calls, voice commands, and memos. The second mic, built into the top near the headphone jack, is for FaceTime calls and for making your phone calls better. It works with the main mic to suppress unwanted and distracting background sounds, such as music and loud conversations. This dual-mic noise suppression helps make every conversation a quiet one. With its large Multi-Touch display and innovative software, iPhone lets you control everything using just your fingers. How does it work? A panel laminated on the glass senses your touch using electrical fields. It can register multiple touches at once to support advanced gestures such as pinch to zoom, two-finger tap, and more. The panel then transmits the information to the Retina display below it.
