- The Verizon iPhone 4 has much in common with its AT&T counterpart, but varying features and different performance give it enough room to stand apart. It won't vastly change your iPhone experience, but we welcome the consumer choice that it brings.

The good: The Verizon iPhone 4 offers a hot-spot feature not available on AT&T's device. Performance was better in most regards.
The bad: The Verizon iPhone 4 lacks world roaming and the ability to access voice and data simultaneously. The hot-spot feature didn't work with all devices.
The bottom line: The Verizon iPhone 4 has much in common with its AT&T counterpart, but varying features and different performance give it enough room to stand apart. It won't vastly change your iPhone experience, but we welcome the consumer choice that it brings.

Summary: The iPhone 4 is a respectable smartphone. There is no doubt about it. Decent call quality and excelent reception nearly everywhere, Apple's Appstore, iTunes, and other features make it a nice pick. Unfortunately, it has its own share of problems.
About a year after I had my phone, the home button stopped working. The charging/docking cord that it came with konked out around the same time. And on both handsets, I noticed that every time I shook it, something made a small rattle. Performance was never impaired by this ratte, but to this day I still don't know what causes it.
Overall performance is acceptable. Apps load a bit slowly, and framerate issues abound with more demanding games like InfinityBlade and Zenonia.
Another issue was that the phone runs very warmly, and with a high brightness setting, it runs hot at times. Even something as simple as playing music gives it some heat. People that need brightness should beware.
The dispay is definitely its overall best feature. Text is crispity crunchity, and colors manifest well. -

A true "dream phone"
by bsiden on May 17, 2011
Pros: iOS 4 if flawless. No bugs. I've tested two different droid models (Droid X, and Thunderbolt) and sorry Android, but not even close to the refinement iOS offers. Android OS is nice in theory and allows more freedome, but it's plagued with annoying bugs
Cons: Not big on the charger port for apple products...get with it and get compatible with the mini usb.

Summary: I have not had one dropped call or failed 3g signal. In Ohio, Verizon works virtually everywhere I've been. I get solid reception in my basement of my 100 year old house with solid mortar walls.. It really is the network, and that's the difference between Verizon and AT&T. I had two iPhone with AT&T with duplicated signal and dropped calls. I will say AT&T's 3g is faster. But speed like size doesn't matter more to me..it's knowing when I make a call it won't fail and when I need 3g coverage, I've got it! Great job on this Apple & Verizon~ It's good to be back.

Another Bad "Apple" Experience - NEVER AGAIN!!!

Summary: I switched to Verizon because I relocated and I was told that Verizon was the main network in the area and AT&T was virtually non-existent. Since my employer offered to pay for half of my wireless bill, I opted for the iPhone 4 with unlimited everything at around $120.00/month.
I left the store happy as a clam, but one I got back to my new home, I realized I was only getting one bar on the iPhone. I was very concerned because I use my phone 90% of the time for work, and I cannot have dropped calls every 5 minutes, so I called a relative to chat for a while to test out the reception. Everything was fine when I used the speakerphone and set the phone on my desk. But just as soon as I picked it up, the recipient on the other end of the line said I was fading in and out. I would immediately put the phone back down and on speakerphone, and the recipient said she could hear me again. I tested this over and over and finally, the call was dropped and I got the "Call Failed" message on the iPhone. During the first day I owned the phone, I had about 5 dropped calls. The iPhone 4 IS DEFINITELY plagued with antenna problems, just as reported when it was released. I know people blamed Droid for making false accusations of iPhone antenna issues, but I know that the PROBLEM IS REAL.
Also, I noticed a small rattling noise coming from the iPhone. After further investigation, I pinpointed the rattling noise coming from the sleep/wake button. Thinking this was normal, I Googled "iPhone 4 rattle sleep/wake button" and low & behold, there are thousands of complaints about this. It is very annoying because when the phone is on silent mode, or when you have the phone up to your ear, you can hear the rattle every time you move your head from side to side, which happens a lot during a normal conversation.
I took the iPhone back to Verizon and had to pay a restocking fee of $35.00 because I told myself "NEVER AGAIN" with an iPhone. You see, I also had problems with the iPhone 3G back when it first launched on AT&T's network. The radio died in my first iPhone 3g and Apple replaced it with a refurb, white box model. Then, the second one dropped calls every 5 minutes and literally became unusable, so I replaced that one too with a refurb and immediately sold the refurb on Ebay. That left a bad taste in my mouth with iPhones. Now, since I had a defective iPhone 4 (it was deemed defective by the guy at the Verizon store, since it rattled and dropped calls), I finally told myself never again with Apple. This put the final nail in the coffin for me ever owning another iPhone.
By the way, I swapped my iPhone 4 for the Droid Incredible 2 and I'm so glad I did. The Droid Incredible 2 literally puts the iPhone 4 to shame. And guess what? I haven't had one dropped call yet, and I've been using it non-stop for 2 days now, proof that the dropped calls were not due to Verizons network, but were because of the iPhones defective antenna's.
For all of you die-hard Apple supporters, you can have your iPhone's. I'll keep my Droid Incredible 2.
Specifications
- Manufacturer: Apple
- Part number: iPhone 4 - 16 GB White
- Description: While everyone else was busy trying to keep up with iPhone, Apple were busy creating amazing new features that make iPhone more powerful, easier to use, and more indispensable than ever. The result is iPhone 4. The biggest thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone. All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass - the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever. It's also recyclable. The 960-by-640 backlit LCD display boasts a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch, making it the highest-resolution phone screen ever. To achieve this, Apple engineers developed pixels so small - a mere 78 micrometers across - that the human eye can't distinguish individual pixels. That makes text remarkably sharp and graphics incredibly vivid. IPS technology also provides excellent color and contrast from almost any viewing angle. Created from Apple's own alloy, then forged to be five times stronger than standard steel, the CNC-machined band is the mounting point for all the components of iPhone 4. The band provides impressive structural rigidity and allows for its incredibly thin, refined design. It also functions as both iPhone 4 antennas. Apple engineers designed the A4 chip to be a remarkably powerful yet remarkably power-efficient mobile processor. With it, iPhone 4 can easily perform complex jobs such as multitasking, editing video, and placing FaceTime calls. All while maximizing battery life. iPhone 4 includes a built-in three-axis gyroscope. When paired with the accelerometer, it makes iPhone 4 capable of advanced motion sensing such as user acceleration, full 3D attitude, and rotation rate. Translation: More motion gestures and greater precision for an even better gaming experience. The iPhone 4 camera shoots gorgeous 5-megapixel photos and stunning HD video. And with its advanced backside illumination sensor, it captures beautiful images even in low-light settings. The built-in LED flash does double duty. When you're taking pictures, it works as a flash. When you're shooting video it can stay on to light up the scene. And on the front of iPhone 4, the built-in camera is perfect for making FaceTime calls and shooting self-portraits. While most phones have only one microphone, iPhone 4 has two. The main mic, located on the bottom next to the dock connector, is for phone calls, voice commands, and memos. The second mic, built into the top near the headphone jack, is for FaceTime calls and for making your phone calls better. It works with the main mic to suppress unwanted and distracting background sounds, such as music and loud conversations. This dual-mic noise suppression helps make every conversation a quiet one. With its large Multi-Touch display and innovative software, iPhone lets you control everything using just your fingers. How does it work? A panel laminated on the glass senses your touch using electrical fields. It can register multiple touches at once to support advanced gestures such as pinch to zoom, two-finger tap, and more. The panel then transmits the information to the Retina display below it.
