The good: Apple's iPhone 4S has a faster processor and an upgraded camera, all the benefits of iOS 5, and a useful and immensely fun voice assistant. Call quality on the Sprint model is admirable, and the data speeds, while certainly not 4G, get the job done.
The bad: It's about time we get a larger screen.
The bottom line: The iPhone 4S isn't the king of cell phones, but it's part of the royal family nonetheless. Even without 4G and a giant screen, this phone's smart(ass) voice assistant, Siri, the benefits of iOS 5, and its spectacular camera make it a top choice for anyone ready to upgrade.

Blackberry and Android just weren't cutting it...

Summary: IT WORKS! I've had a Blackberry, not enough apps and not enough on board memory, as well as, a dated OS. I had an Android, great features, loved the widgets, best voice turn by turn navigation, but it had a buggy OS and after a year became obsolete and unable to do normal day to day functions. In comes the iPhone as I make my way through the industry's plethora of Smartphone platforms and devices. I love it! It's simple, easy to use, I had no learning curve, it has an integrated iPod, great App support, fun accessories, and IT WORKS! I haven't had any battery life issues and 4G? What, so I can get spotty coverage and half the battery life? I'll pass until it becomes more prevalent and phone manufactures, specifically Apple because they have a life-long iPhone customer now, create a longer lasting battery that can handle that much data usage. As for Navigation? Garmin is about to make another sale. Sorry Google, but your turn by turn navigation is easily replaced with a bare bones GPS that does the same thing.

Pros: -Batter life - Last longer than a day running iOS 5.0.1 and 5.1
-Stablity - No issues with the OS or apps.
-Hardware - The dualcore A5 processor

Summary: I got my iPhone 4S in November ordered from Verizon. The setup was so simple, that it beat out Android far and wide. Setup was fast and walked you through different options for setting up your phone including the new feature, iCloud, that has been an added bonus.
Being a former Android user, I think I have changed my mind about Apple products overall. The software/hardware combination of development has worked so well, that I have not experienced a single issue thus far. After keeping up with all of the jazz of Apple's research and development of new products and how their software and hardware pair up with each other, I have a better understanding now as to why they keep their software and hardware closed off from the public. They simply don't want you to break your phone and void the warranty with software that is not supported or modifies the OS.
I highly recommend this device for beginners and the standard user. For those that are advanced users that like to hack the OS, I would recommend going to an Android phone. The premium price for a premium hardware and software package should not be modified and may cost you your warranty and AppleCare+ if you decide to jailbreak the device. I myself consider myself an advanced user, but wanted something that didn't make it easy to jailbreak or root.
The main reasons why I went with the iPhone 4S is due to stability of the OS, premium hardware, better software/hardware integration, almost impossible to jailbreak (with the A5 processor), ease of use, and a platform that integrates with other mobile devices that Apple has released (iPad, iPod Touch, and the future release of Mountain Lion).
Owning the iPhone 4S has opened me up to a new idea that, while the hardware and software are closed, it creates a simple yet pleasing environment and found that it attracted me to the possibility of owning other Apple devices in the future. This is pricey, but they last if they are used correctly and within the Apple warranty. I myself am respecting the stock configuration of the phone since it works and doesn't glitch evertime I try to open an app. -
Great phone, horrible battery life

Pros: Convenient for everything I need to get done, flawless design that just feels great in your hand and the ease of use makes it a phone anyone and everyone can use.
Cons: My only issue is the battery life. APPLE you straight up lied when you mentioned the phone's battery life. You need to work on an update that addresses the battery issues and the battery issues alone.

I can understand when people get frustrated with their iPhone 4S because sometimes it can get wonky, but all in all it is great. Summary: I received my iPhone 4S as a birthday present in late October. I was excited to start using it because my previous iPhone 3, iPhone 4 were incredible. I was even able to use an app called "Radar" to track thunderstorm movements when I was flying my Cessna. Go to my Flickr account (Google this "Outrunning a thunderstorm, Flickr, HighAboveTexas) and see and iPhone 3 photo I captured from my Cessna. My iPhone 3 and iPhone 4 were remarkable, but my THREE iPHONE 4S phones have been extremely disappointing!
I received my iPhone 4S as a birthday present in late October. I was excited to start using it because my previous iPhone 3, iPhone 4 were incredible. My "first" iPhone 4S would not connect to any of my Bluetooth devices that my iPhone 3 and iPhone 4 worked with. Through the Apple warranty program, I sent my first iPhone 4S back and received a new one. When it arrived, I discovered the battery would only last about half a day. It also had another problem where the people I called would hear their own voice echo, as if they were having some kind of audio-feedback problem. I contacted Apple and they sent me my third iPhone 4S.
The 3rd iPhone 4S is even worse than the first two defective ones. When I've called people (on land-lines or other cell phones) my voice has been so distorted (on some calls, but not all) that I have actually had people hang up on me because they couldn't understand me. If I called them back on my back-up cell phone, a TracFone made by LG, they have no problem understanding me and they never hear that annoying echo-feedback problem. To add insult to injury, this 3rd iPhone 4S keeps asking for my "password" despite setting my AT&T account to no password needed. I even took it back to AT&T and asked them why my iPhone 3 and iPhone 4 could be "fixed" so it didn't require a password but this 3rd iPhone 4S could not be "tweaked" in any way possible to stop the darned password requirement from popping up. Also, my experience with Siri is that "she" must be hitting on Apple juice that has fermented because about 75% of the time, she can't understand me, or gets the request totally screwed up.
I was so frustrated that I sent the 3rd iPhone 4s back to Apple on December 27, 2011 through their warranty program. At my own expense, I also sent a Federal Express Next Day Air letter to "Apple Customer Relation Manager." I never heard a word from the people in their Customer Relations Department, but I did get an e-mail from their geeks where they received my defective iPhone. They said they found no problems with it.
I purchased a used iPhone 4 here on Ebay (no joke, see my Ebay activity) and I pulled the SIM card from my 4S, stuck it into the used 4 and it works fine. My wife's iPhone 4 works fine too, but my 3 iPhone 4S phones have been a total disappointment, and ethically, I can't and won't sell this defective iPhone 4S to someone else... It's now just a fancy paper-weight on my desk, because Apple refuses to give me an iPhone 4S that works.
