- The iPhone 4S isn't the king of cell phones, but it's part of the royal family nonetheless. Even without 4G and a giant screen, this phone's smart(ass) voice assistant, Siri, the benefits of iOS 5, and its spectacular camera make it a top choice for anyone ready to upgrade.

The good: Apple's iPhone 4S has a faster processor and an upgraded camera, all the benefits of iOS 5, and a useful and immensely fun voice assistant. Call quality on the Sprint model is admirable, and the data speeds, while certainly not 4G, get the job done.
The bad: It's about time we get a larger screen.

Att wireless review, too much $ too many dropped calls.
by Rollipolliori on June 22, 2012
Pros: Feel sturdy sort of like a high end paperweight
Cons: Lots and lots of cons to Att Wireless read below.

Summary: I have been using an iPhone 4 with Att Wireless for the last 22 month. Nothing but trouble, from day one Att Wireless has been dropping 50% of my calls, or maybe even more. Imagine the constant worry and aggravation of so many dropped calls! Over the course of the contract I have attempted to have the issue resolved with both Apple and Att Wireless. Apple has replaced my device with a brand new one and Att's solution was to change my sim card. Neither solution worked; in fact the problem has gotten worst over time. My local Apple store where I purchased the phone refuses to replace it saying the problem lies with the service. Att refuses to accept the problem saying it's a hardware issue and sending me back to Apple. See I am a customer a human being stuck in a contract between this two conglomerates whose faulty product cost Americans billions of dollars per year. Last two years I have had to leave my office and walk outside in order to talk on the Att Wireless phone. Sounds like I live in at the edge of the universe well, No! I live in Center City Philadelphia just 2 blocks from City Hall. If Att Wireless doesn't have good coverage here where does it cover? Att Wireless was charging $138 per month on the unlimited everything plan which over the 24 month contract is well over $3000. Transferred to Tmobile on a prepaid unlimited everything plan for just $60 per month. Now I am surfing at 4g instead of 3g, I speed tested the Tmobile phone at 4-5 Mbps which is much faster than speeds the Iphone 4 3g offers. Best of all I can now talk on the phone without having to walk outside my office and without the constant worry of dropped calls. Still thinking about Att wireless? Save yourself a lot of money and a lot of aggravation and stay away from the horrible service of Att Wireless.

Will never stray away from iPhone again.
by jordanlovesdavid on December 7, 2011

Smoothest OS out there
iMessage is great
Speed

Summary: My first iPhone and smartphone was the iPhone 4 on AT&T when ist first came out. I loved the thing. Everything just worked. And smoothly. After about 8 months, I got lured into Sprint by the EVO 4G. I loved the EVO when I first got it for the bigger screen and customization. But, after some time with it, I quickly realized that while it may be better in some ways, I missed my iPhone dearly. I happily paid the ETF and switched back to AT&T for the iPhone 4S on launch day. I couldn't be happier. From the excellent battery life to the great picture quality, this phone is just amazing. Siri may be lacking in some areas, but it's still in beta and not the reason why I bought the phone. If you're still on the fence between Android and iOS, I'll just say that you'll never have a smoother experience than with this iPhone. Well, until the iPhone 5, I'm sure. ;)

Another great Apple iPhone.
by dalton_irl on November 23, 2011
Pros: 8MP Camera shoots the best quality non-point-and-shoot pictures of any device
1080p Video Capture/image stab.
Retina Display
Sleek design (still)
Smoothest OS of any mobile device
Best ecosystem out there: App Store, ease of use, integration, etc.Cons: Battery life does suffer a little bit. Mine usually gets about 5-7 hours use on top of 16-20 hours standby a day with little battery life to spare.
iMessage seems to not send way more often than normal texts used to pre-iOS 5.
Minor bugs in iOS 5.Summary: My only issue with this phone is the battery is only about 75% as resilient, at best, as my iPhone 4 running iOS 4 was just months ago. I don'...
Summary: My only issue with this phone is the battery is only about 75% as resilient, at best, as my iPhone 4 running iOS 4 was just months ago. I don't mind that this phone isn't 4G capable because 4G is only about 5-10% as capable as it should/will be in terms of coverage and actual 4G speeds by definition. Another gripe most people have with iPhones that I don't share is the screen size. To me, 3.5" is just fine as I value design more than I do a phone with a 4"+ screen made of some junky plastic (Samsung) or a bunch of different colored metals arranged in an awkward way in attempt to be edgy or something (HTC), and while these claims may make most people write me off as a fanboy as they so often do, I stick to them as my opinion is mine alone.
Bottom line:
If 'lack' of 4G, screen size, and a mediocre battery aren't too big a sacrifice, this is the best smartphone on the market (unless you have a bias against Apple). -
Faster processor and the better camera.
by michaelfitzusa on October 16, 2011
Pros: Dual core processor. Same as the iPad 2. The 8mp camera with 1080p video recording. And it's a iPod!
Cons: None. Great Phone
Summary: This camera should hold up to new technology very well. I shouldn't need a new phone for a very long time.

Specifications
- Manufacturer: Apple
- Part number: 5370400
- Description: iPhone 4S picks up where amazing left off. It's the fastest, most powerful iPhone ever. It features an 8-megapixel camera with all-new optics. It records stunning 1080p HD video. It comes with iOS 5 and iCloud. And it's the only phone with Siri - your intelligent assistant that helps you get things done, just by using your voice. Now you can use your voice to use your iPhone. Just talk to Siri as you would to a person: "Do I need an umbrella? " or "Any great burgers around here? " or "Where's the closest ATM? " Siri not only understands what you say, it knows what you mean. It figures out the right apps to use to find the right answer. Then, just like a personal assistant, it answers you. Siri makes phone calls, sends messages, schedules meetings, sets reminders, and more. How much more? Just ask, and Siri tells you that, too. Two cores in the A5 chip deliver up to two times more power and up to seven times faster graphics. And you'll feel the effects. Fast. iPhone 4S is quick and responsive, which makes all the difference when you're launching apps, browsing the web, gaming, and doing just about everything. And no matter what you're doing, you can keep on doing it. Because the A5 chip is so power-efficient, iPhone 4S has outstanding battery life. This just might be the best camera ever on a phone. And with all-new optics, it just might be the only camera you need. Because behind every shot, you've got 8-megapixel resolution and a custom lens with a larger f/2.4 aperture. Not to mention an improved backside illumination sensor, excellent auto white balance, advanced color accuracy, face detection, and reduced motion blur. It all means that no matter how many people, how much light, and how much action you capture, everything looks exactly as it should. And just wait until you see the photos. The iPhone 4S camera gives you 8 megapixels - that's 60 percent more pixels than the camera on iPhone 4. And they're engineered with a higher, full-well capacity to collect even more light. With more megapixels and more light, you'll see a dramatic difference in the resolution and details of your images. Shoot stunning 1080p HD video everywhere you go. With all-new optics, the light is always right, the color is always vivid, and everything will look even better than you remember. Video stabilization steadies shaky shots. And you can edit video right on iPhone and share your lush life as fast as you shoot. Record amazing 1080p HD video at 30 frames per second. The advanced backside illumination sensor and larger aperture let in even more light. Improved auto white balance makes color even more accurate. And temporal noise reduction helps you take great videos in low light. With every iOS advancement come even easier ways to do everything. That's what makes iOS years ahead of anything else. iOS 5 leaps even further ahead, bringing over 200 new features to iPhone 4S. iCloud is the easiest way to manage all your stuff, because it manages it all for you. iCloud stores your music, photos, apps, mail, contacts, calendars, documents, and more. And wirelessly pushes them to all your devices. It's automatic, effortless, and seamless. And it just works. With iCloud, the music you buy in iTunes appears automatically on all your devices. You can also download your past iTunes purchases. So your music collection goes where you go. The sharpest, most vibrant thing you'll see on iPhone 4S is everything. The Retina display is the highest-resolution phone screen ever. In fact, the pixel density is so high that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels. But without a doubt, you'll notice crisp text, sharp graphics, and stunning images. It's more remarkable than the printed page. And you'll be completely absorbed. FaceTime lets you hear a voice and see the face that goes with it - iPhone to iPhone, iPad 2, iPod touch, or Mac over Wi-Fi.5 So no matter where they are, no matter where you are, you'll always be there. Making a FaceTime call is just as easy as making a phone call. And it's even easier with Siri. Just tell Siri "FaceTime with Mom" and you show up, smile, and wave hello. You'll never miss a big event, an important meeting, or a good laugh. And who wouldn't be happy to see your face?
