The good: The iPhone 5 adds everything we wanted in the iPhone 4S: 4G LTE, a longer, larger screen, free turn-by-turn navigation, and a faster A6 processor. Plus, its top-to-bottom redesign is sharp, slim, and feather-light.
The bad: Apple Maps feels unfinished and buggy; Sprint and Verizon models can't use voice and data simultaneously. The smaller connector renders current accessories unusable without an adapter. There's no NFC, and the screen size pales in comparison to jumbo Android models.
The bottom line: The iPhone 5 completely rebuilds the iPhone on a framework of new features and design, addressing its major previous shortcomings. It's absolutely the best iPhone to date, and it easily secures its place in the top tier of the smartphone universe.

iPhone 5 is a great phone but is quickly becoming old.
by Matt3470 on March 27, 2013
Pros: - Thin, light, and beautiful design.
- Excellent camera.
- Best possible media consumption experience.
- App Store still king compared to all others.
- iOS is reliable and easy to use.
- Size is perfect.
- Fast and fluid interface.
- LTE is great!Cons: - Battery life actually worse than previous models, just terrible.
- Nothing revolutionary, just a slightly new design and new specs.
- iOS is getting a little stale and behind the Android competition.
- New connector makes accessories obsolete.Summary: iPhone 5 has the hottest design of any smartphone released in 2012. Even in 2013, the only smartphone that *might* come close to the amazing design of the iPhone 5 ...
Summary: iPhone 5 has the hottest design of any smartphone released in 2012. Even in 2013, the only smartphone that *might* come close to the amazing design of the iPhone 5 is the HTC One (yet to be released). The iPhone 5 does have a slightly taller screen which is great for allowing more lines of text to show when you are using the keyboard. (Viewing in the messenger and e-mail apps did get a little cramped on previous iPhones once the keyboard popped up!)
iPhone in general will always have the most tight media experience. Let's face it, when it comes to consuming media, Apple is still king. The App Store has the highest quality and largest selection of apps. The experience across all iOS apps is more consistent and reliable. iPhone is simple and elegant all around.
Having LTE in the iPhone 5 is a great advantage and Apple's implementation of it is remarkable; the LTE is not nearly as power-hungry as it's Android brethren (more on that in the cons section).
I am disappointed that the iPhone 5 did not have any "wow" features. The design was cool, the camera an improvement, and the speed a big bump--but nothing about the iPhone 5 really made me lust after it (other than just to have the latest Apple device, which is what Apple seems to rely on these days, which may be a bad mistake for them).
My biggest con, BATTERY LIFE! The iPhone 5 battery is roughly the same size as the iPhone 4S and 4 batteries--but the iPhone 5 has a bigger screen, more powerful CPU, and a higher-drain set of radios (LTE), so naturally the battery life cannot possibly be as good as the previous models--and it is not! My iPhone 4S had much better battery life and iPhone 5 just can't compare. Power users like me will need an external battery case or some other charging solution handy.
Another beef--the lightning connector! While I understand why Apple changed out the connector (which was well over a decade old) it really sucked having to buy all new cables and accessories (or adapters for said accessories).
The iPhone 5 is a great phone, really, but I think I'm going to give it a lower score than some of the other phones I've used (like the Motorola Razr HD Maxx, which has it all in terms of design, battery life, and an unbloated Android interface).0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

iPhone 5 freezes, distorts and does not update apps

Cons: iPhone 5 freezes, crashes, images distorts and have to be shut down more than 3-4 times daily. Apps do not update with the purchases of the iPhone 5 now since Apple decided to change my email.

Summary: If I had known I would be trapped in with the iPhone models, including the iPhone 5 I would have ran 3000 miles away from it as fast as I can.. I have had problems with each iPhone starting with the iPhone 3. I thought with each new model that perhaps there would be a change with the many bugs I continue to have. I now have the iPhone 5 and nothing has changed. First, the iPhone becomes distorted and freezes at least 3 to 4 times daily. It does not make any sense that I have to shut down my iPhone that much. Secondly, with the help of apple they changed my email now I can not update any apps that was purchased prior to the email, about 60 apps. The apps crashes or do not load at all. When you try to get apple support they don't know how to fix it and blame it on iTunes although they were the ones who changed my email. I can change my password etc., and it still does not recognize my apps. I will not be purchasing any new iPhones from Apple. I have learned my lesson.

Summary: Its light, slim and handy. If you have iPhone4s you may not need iPhone5. But if you have earliers models then definitely a reason to buy.Even dealers are offering EMIS.
Maps: Apple is improving maps as per TUAW. Also for India MapMyIndia in tie up with sygic offers best map experience with door2door navigation, real time traffic updates. Google Reportedly Readies Maps App For iOS.
Don't worry about software glitches. They will be fixed any time through upgrades. Still its more better quality than Android.
Additional features: iMessage, Camera Panorama view, Face-Time....
IPhone5 is bit high priced but not too high if you consider the quality and services like iCloud. iCloud will give better experience than free drop box.
Galaxy S3 is available cheaper than iPhone but with bulky size, heavy weight and a cheap plastic back cover. Sorry to say but this reminds my school days geometric box.Quad core processor? You need or your OS need? Optimizing OS is more important than increasing processor.
From my view iOS gives better usability experience than Android. To use Android fully, One either need to be a techie or need to have prior android experience. iOS is still the easiest OS then comes Windows and finally Android the toughest.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Worst iPhone upgrade ever, it's more of a downgrade!
by alexbc1 on November 15, 2012
Pros: - 4G LTE
- Faster than 4S
- Taller screenCons: - Apple Map is an EPIC FAIL
- Battery life is dismal
- Taller screen looks weird, screws up most Apps
- Thinner/lighter body feels cheap
- Material is cheapened vs. iPhone 4S
- Back scratched easy
- NO NFC
- NO wireless charging
- Display too smallSummary: I simply cannot believe people lined up for this iPhone!

I got this at work, and returned it in 2 weeks and got Lumia 920 instead. It is the WORST upgrade in iPhone history. Yes, it's got LTE and faster processor and they just stretched out the screen, BUT, it basically doesn't provide any improvement worth upgrading over 4S and it's downgrade in many ways.
The #1 issue is Apple Maps, 100% downgrade over Google Maps, and not only it's worse, IT IS WRONG. It took me numerous times to wrong addresses and it was very very frustrating.
#2 issue is battery life, not that 4S was that great, but this one is just dismal, you can literally sit and watch battery life go down before your eyes. MUST charge half-day, lasts 4-5hrs max with light use!
#3, the display resolution is just not standard, most things look horrid on it, and most Apps have black bars around. It also doesn't provide ANY more screen real-estate that's usable. I like to see websites without squinting, but this doesn't help, it's actually stretched down making you to scroll more rather than seeing more on the screen. Most new phones are 4.3-4.8".
#4, while iPhone 4/4S oozed quality, looked great, felt great, and had a weight of a premium product, this one feels cheap. Yes, it's very thin, but the back is so easily scratched that you MUST add a case, that negates all that thinness
#5, iOS 6 doesn't provide any upgrade or features worthwhile. It crashes for me, has some weird behaviour in some apps.
#6, No NFC, wireless charging, and camera is actually having purple hue issues.
To summarize, it's got NOTHING NEW over 4S and many things are WORSE than 4S, namely Maps, battery life, worse camera, and poorer build quality. There is NO INNOVATION FOLKS! No NFC, wireless charging, 4.5"+ inch usable screen, better quality screen (like 60Hz or AMOLED) and camera is actually having purple hue issues.
So, if you got iPhone 4S, stick to it and do NOT upgrade it to iOS 6. If in market for a new/innovative/different smartphone, get Lumia 920 or Samsung Galaxy S3. This was an EPIC FAIL!0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

A good phone ruined by a mediocre battery life
by Link737 on November 12, 2012
Pros: Beautiful screen
One of the best camera on a smartphone
LTE
Fast and responsive
Lightweight
EarPodsCons: Mediocre battery life (a real joke)
Apple maps is useless

Summary: I've had this phone since the first day as I wanted to change my old iPhone 3GS (about time !). I was really happy at first, the improvement was tremendous (compared to my old smartphone). The screen is so much confortable and the rendering is very good (colors, contrast, definition ... ). The LTE is really a huge addition, your cellphone becomes 5 or 6 times faster, with my 6GB plan I was able to facetime, watch netflix and do everything I wanted with my phone without any problem.
Unfortunately, nearly two months after I am deeply disapointed, I simply sold my iPhone to get rid of it because of three main defaults that I couldn't overlook.
First the battery life, this is a MAJOR flaw, the battery life is a joke, it sucks big time. I just can't go to work without my charging cable and it's the same for my colleagues. I usually end up turning the data off otherwise my battery would run out of juice before I even left work (I leave work at 5pm in case some are wondering). I would not possibly be honest and say that this is not the main reason I got rid of it, because it's just impossible to use this phone without fear of burning all the battery power (and I'm talking music and iMessage that's it, no facebook, games or videos)
The second thing that bothered me and was statted in a lot of reviews is the new Apple Maps widely regarded as a joke in the internet community. Yes it's a joke, no public transportation (that's 95% of my Google Maps use), missing places, s****y sattelite photos sometimes. The 3d works fantastic in Montreal, but I think we're one of the exceptions.
The last thing that bugs me is iOS 6 which has a lot more bugs than iOS 5. My iPhone often tells me that LTE or 3G is available while it's not. I have to turn off and on my phone to get it to work. It's quite a pain in the neck considering that the LTE coverage is still random and the phone often switches between 3G and LTE (that's when the bug might occur)
Overall, even though my review sounds negative, the iPhone 5 is still a good phone, not the best one, but it has its arguments. However I wouldn't recommend it, if you have an iPhone 4 or 4S stick with it until the next iPhone 6 or 5S is released (rumor has it it'll be around early january, wait and see). I got rid of it, so did some of my friends/colleagues and I'm looking toward the Lumia 920, HTC 8X or the Galaxy S III (not my favorite). I think they could make a pretty decent choice for the people disapointed by the iPhone 5

Too Little and Too Late!
by EC_Johnson2000 on September 21, 2012
Pros: Slight improvements over the 4S:
- Larger, brighter screen
- Lighter weightCons: iOS6 is seriously out-of-date with trends in other smartphone OSs
- Dated application management (icon arrangement, anyone?)
- Multitasking & notifications can't compare to Android ICS
- Proprietary USB connectorSummary: Having an iPhone 5 in hand side-by-side with my Samsung Galaxy III I'd say the iPhone 5 is a desperately needed step towards catching up to Apple's rivals, ...
Summary: Having an iPhone 5 in hand side-by-side with my Samsung Galaxy III I'd say the iPhone 5 is a desperately needed step towards catching up to Apple's rivals, but falls far short. The new iOS 6 release may claim '200' features, but none of them are the ones we really needed.
- I still want to be able to place my icons as I wish rather than one the top of the screen
- Give me widgets, like Android!
- The Maps app and navigation features are not an improvement, and Android still wins big here
- What about a car dock from Apple? I have an Samsung Galaxy SIII to and I can't live without it suction-cupped to my windshield giving me directions, playing my music and responding to my voice commands
- The iOS keyboard is overly simplistic compared to stock Android, and can't compare to what's on the Android market place.
- The phone is still too darn square to really be a comfortable grip
- Also, Apple's iTunes store is much more expensive than the Amazon and Google options16 out of 41 users found this user opinion helpful.
