The good: The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520 features a responsive optical trackpad and dedicated media controls. The smartphone also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 2-megapixel camera, and good call quality.
The bad: Lacks 3G support and GPS. You can only save downloaded apps to the phone's main memory.
The bottom line: The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520 is a sleek entry-level smartphone that delivers some nice design enhancements and great performance. While available directly from T-Mobile, Wal-Mart offers the better value on the smartphone.

It's Cute and Fun

Pros: Color, track pad, applications, extras (clock),games
Cons: Does not have a flash. There is an annoying transmitting noise when you hold it to your ear. It is really light weight so light it might fly out of your hand

Works Well and Reliable

Pros: International, good on abuse (dropping). Can review and create most docs like Word, Excel. Relatively quick internet loading and streaming of songs and videos.
Cons: No flash and the pictures only come out in great bright lighting. Can't watch Youtube because it doesn't support Adobe flash. Have to download another software to view youtube.

Summary: I do almost everything on this phone and after 1.5 years of no troubles, I'm replacing it after it began to give me problems staying on. Keep in mind, my casing cracked LAST year and the phone STILL worked with no problem. I'm a heavy texter and internet user as well as phone calls. This phone also works internationally!

Great phone and great value!

Pros: I love the touch pad - it is easy to navigate and responsive. And, unlike the track ball, unlikely to fall out!
Cons: I would like 3G AND UMA, but have to settle for one or the other with TMo. The camera is okay, but hey, this is a phone; the sound quality and display are just fine. Ugly color - thought it was white, but I have a case, so what!

Summary: I had the BlackBerry Flip and the browsing speed was abysmal. The vertical format made it necessary to scroll left and right and the refresh time was too, too slow. I really wanted to love a BlackBerry Flip, as flip is my preferred phone form. But, it just couldn?t cut it. Great for voice ? but data ? slow on 2G. This 8520 has the same speed as the 8900 and is quite a lot less (except to the new T-Mobile customer who should go for the 8900). It meets my needs and I am very pleased with the display resolution, browsing speed and can live happily with a 2.0 camera.
