Summary: used this device for one whole month when I was thinking of getting an iPhone. i chose the iPhone, but this was as closed to one other than the torch, one that you will find. Has tons of apps available too. The reason I'd been looking at this is because RIM had an app world/store before TREO and Apple, and it had more apps. I also knew the OS and UI's more then other smartphones. But apple turned out to be an excellent phone. I have since now replaced iPhone.

Summary: This is about as good as you can get in a non touch screen non 3G phone, and a noticeable upgrade from my 8310. The lack of 3G is a little annoying but the Edge network is VERY reliable, and is fairly fast. I travel all over the DFW area every day and my phone is my tether to my family and this phone is a great tool for managing work and home. The 8900 has excellent call quality, picture taking abilities, though video is average, runs Word to Go and Sheets to go flawlessly.
Due to siting and waiting a lot I keep 10 to 15 movies at any given time on my phone with lots of music and pictures which is where the ability to read a 32gb micro SD card comes in handy. I set a lot of calender events and receive lots of emails and some document attachments and this phone never fails to come through. It is also very nice to be able to use your own MP3's as ring tones and alerts.
With just a few apps this phone becomes trouble free and VERY productive. Change themes add APPs, play music, watch movies, surf the net, send and receive emails from multiple accounts, receive IM, Facebook, calender, and weather alerts, set several different profile types to accommodate your need under certain situations.
After purchasing this phone new and using it for only 2 months I switched to the iPhone. One week later I switched back. This is not an iPhone bashing review, the iPhone is an excellent phone. However I instantly missed my profiles such as phone only, so I can receive emergency calls at night but my alerts don't interrupt my sleep, phone off which allows you to use the phones inner abilities without any incoming calls, other phones call this airplane mode, and of course vibrate, normal and loud. You can even create more if you have the need. I also instantly missed the ability to use my own MP3's as alerts and ring tones. I resented having to use iTunes to make changes to the phone. The iPhone was also larger, nice for screen size not so nice inside the pocket, and much heavier than my Blackberry 8900. The Blackberrys abilities to change alerts and profiles for inside the holster or out is amazing and nearly endless.
There are plenty of apps for individual taste for Blackberry's but I recommend these for all models.
BeJoose ( a memory manager ), Quick Launch ( gives one button access to any or all the apps or functions you set up yourself), Addonis ( does way too much to list everything here but most noticeably a call firewall that also creates a blacklist, blocking unwanted calls)no app for the iPhone exist that has the same abilities, One Touch Flashlight, the Bolt Browser ( it is much faster than the BB Browser especially when using wifi), and QuickPull. I use the free version and have it to set to simulate a battery pull every night at 3am. Keeps all of our Blackberry's running flawlessly without the dreaded battery pull. I have not had to do one battery pull since I started using it. Unless you just have your heart set on something else you will not be disappointed with the BlackBerry 8900 Curve. It is a great phone for managing work life and family life. -
Awesome first, disappointing later
by Epicrider10 on April 23, 2010
Pros: Love the style, body, size and all around looks; WIFI works like a charm, screen resolution is excellent, easy to use key board and nice useful selection of applications.
Cons: I put a 16 gig micro SD card thinking that I'd be able to load it up with apps, little did I know that you can only store them in the phone memory, and yes the more apps you download, the slower and troubled the phone gets.
Summary: I love how sleek the phone looks, it is still so different from all the new smart phones out there. I had to put 4 or more different apps just ...
Summary: I love how sleek the phone looks, it is still so different from all the new smart phones out there. I had to put 4 or more different apps just to try to keep the phone somewhat healthy, to no avail, I still have to re-boot it, re-start it and recover the memory at least 4 times a day, some times it gets so overwhelmed that it completely freezes, the screen goes blank and there is no power on Earth that will fix that, so battery, SIM card and SD card removal is necessary; NOT GOOD!!

Overall Good Phone
by snivelywhiplash on April 15, 2010
Pros: The phone itself has a quick processor and a great screen. I've loaded mine with the apps I want and with a 16G micro SD card, I can record tons of pictures or video.
Cons: IT IS NOT 3G! But, that makes the battery last a lot longer - 3 days instead of 7 hours.
Summary: This phone does what I need it to do in a very attractive package. What's important to me is that I have a charge at the end of the ...
Summary: This phone does what I need it to do in a very attractive package. What's important to me is that I have a charge at the end of the day, whether I've been in court, conducting depositions, etc. The 2G network is fast enough for what I do with respect to the internet, so I don't feel I'm missing out on anything. I used to have the ATT 3G 8525, and even though it was nice, the BB Curve 8900 doesn't have any noticeable reduction in internet speed, and I don't have to keep it charged all day for fear of it dying on me. Do the comparisons: the screen has great resolution, the processor is quick, and you get all the BB apps. And you know you're going to get all you emails reliably.

by acpm10 on December 9, 2009
Pros: The keyboard is great and roomy and easy to text but it moves. The screen in gorgeous and the phone is a perfect size. Icons really pop on the page. Its really cool and the camera is also great!!!
Cons: The web browsing is soso, not as bad as every1 says but not bad. The only other bad thing is the keyboard and battery back move, and sometimes the phone freezes but only on occasion
Summary: Overall this is one of the best blackberry's to date. I highly recommend this.

Summary: A great phone. All applications are very to use. The internet access is easy to use. I do not need a GPS. I can just Google a location as I would on my laptop. Great for the times you may need the internet, but you do not want to carry your laptop with you. All email has easy access. I have never had any issue with the phone.

Summary: This Blackberry i have had for about 2 months its Pretty New Actually. I am still waiting on the Charging Pod and Bluetooth Sterero Systems for my house but i cant WAIT! Till the Charging Pod gets here i heard it killer! I would love just to sit down after a long day and just place my phone on the pod without having to freaking Plug it in how annoying! The Battery Life is FANOMINAL!!! I highly recommende the Charging Pod.. LOOK IT UP! You'll fall in luv! The Blackberry software comes with Roxio Designed especially For BLACKBERRY! Yeah DUDE!! Wi-Fi is Great! Easy set-up and everything! Ok when using bluetooth it has a little bit of security but thats a good feel and when transfering a file via bluetooth the LED Indictator Turns BLUE! Blackberry has a built in Firewall. Keypad is Great for texting unlike the Samsung JAck, Blackjack II, nokia it has spaced out keys not slippery crammed ones. Auto TEXT Is a Life Saver!! I love the Game Brickbreaker total entertainer! Camera Quality is Famonimal it even Takes the GPS Location of where u took irt!!!
Blackberry App World is amazing. Any fone with out apps are sore losers! And if u cant afford Data Charges... USE WIFI! Simple and easy as 1-2-3! You can set background images as well . arrange the icons and replace icons and put new ones on the main home screen. everything u think of the blackberry has some setting for it! ilove playing with the Settings! Summary: This is by far the best cell phone I have ever had. It does everything I need and more, voice dial, email, gps. I almost did not get this phone because of the reviews that mention no 3 G on the phone, but for me it connects to the internet just fine. I have only had it for 2 days but have not had any lock ups or anything yet. My Samsung Blackjack I had was garbage in comparison. I also switched from AT&T to T-mobile and so far I like the switch, the call clarity is better but in all fairness that could just be the phone. I have not had any dropped calls either, which with AT&T I would have several dropped calls. Any way, Great phone. I highly recommend this phone.
