Casio G'zOne Commando (Verizon Wireless) price range: $49.99 - $253.95

The good: The Casio G'zOne Commando is a durable and rugged handset that is also an Android smartphone. It has a great suite of applications for outdoor enthusiasts. Other notable features include Wi-Fi, mobile hot-spot capability for up to five devices, GPS, and high-security encryption for corporate e-mail.
The bad: The Casio G'zOne Commando is unfortunately saddled with bloatware from Verizon, and the default search engine is Bing. Google Maps is not preinstalled either, though you can download it yourself. Casio's snap-out menu is not as fluid as we would like. Photo quality is average, and call quality is a little muddy.
The bottom line: The Casio G'zOne Commando is absolutely the choice if you want a rugged Android smartphone, but you have to keep its various negatives in mind.

As Tough as a Tank ... and About as Fast as One

Summary: This is my first smartphone, so it's a little difficult to compare. It's a big improvement over my last phone (LG enV3), but it can be buggy sometimes. e.g., sometimes I have to restart it in order to get basic functions like the GPS to turn on or off. A restart usually does the trick, but given it takes about 2.5 minutes to restart it - from the point you power it off to the point you can use it again (yes, I timed it) - it's a bit of a pain. I don't use many of the fancy features very often, but as I get accustomed to it, I'm starting to use them more and it would be nice if I didn't have to restart it every few days or weeks just to get basic functions to work. There's also a bit of a lag when turning pages sometimes.
Otherwise, I've dropped it, dunked it, dinged it (no actual marks on phone) and it still works. I borrowed the one-line summary from a blog post I read. It's accurate. If you're looking of something fast, this ain't it, but if you want something that you can play rough with and don't have to baby, this is your model. -
Tough phone but the little things make it tough to use

Pros: The GZone gear aps are cool and fun to use. Im usually tough on phones and was hesitant to get a smart phone to to issues my wife has had with her phones breaking screens ect, but so far this has withstood the drop test and submersion test (dropped it whi
Cons: The pre loaded aps kill the battery quickly and if you are using any of the G gear aps or GPS dont plan on using the phone for more than an hr or the battery will die. The Camera on this phone sucks! poor quality on the pics and the zoom does not work (

Exactly what it should be
by yanx206 on May 18, 2011
Pros: *Rugged and Waterproof. Isn't that why you're looking for this phone anyways?
*Takes great pics for a 5 megapixel camera, especially when you're taking them underwater
*Snap Out menu is new and unique in a saturated android arena
*Slimmer than I wouldCons: *The Flash on the camera doesn't have an auto-flash mode
*Not a Push To Talk device
*Battery life is averageSummary: If you've become accustomed to the G'zOne line of products, you'll be very pleased to know that this falls in line with their previous line of products. ...
Summary: If you've become accustomed to the G'zOne line of products, you'll be very pleased to know that this falls in line with their previous line of products. A great, durable, reliable phone with a loud speaker and tough styling.
This isn't meant to be a device with top of the line specs that will blow your socks off like the Thunderbolt or other 4G devices. -
