Dell Venue (unlocked) price range: $329.88

The good: The Dell Venue has an attractive, solid design with a large 4.1-inch touch screen. The Android 2.2 smartphone also features a 1GHz Snapdragon processor for smooth performance and comes with a number of extra apps.
The bad: The Venue's camera quality was subpar, Dell's Stage user interface could use some refinement and won't appeal to everyone, and it doesn't support T-Mobile's HSPA+ network.
The bottom line: The Dell Venue is a good option for those looking for an unlocked Android phone, but it falls a bit short of the competition.

Finally a classy looking android phone that performs
by dabs1 on April 8, 2011
Pros: Free tethering!
Remove widgets and get stock android experience
Plenty Fast
Adequate on board space for apps
Good in sunlight
OK BatteryCons: The processor is now in its last run (1 ghz snapdragon). This might discourage consumers. Price is a little high given that you can get a state of the art atrix for $50 more.

Summary: Unexpectedly good looking phone. It seems to me that almost all android smartphones have cut corners to be competitive with Apple. In terms of looks and build quality this one stands out.
I have a nexus one and the screen sharpness is just as good. And sunlight performance is a blessing compared to the N1.
The reviewer (Bonnie Cha) is being disingenuous by criticizing the stage widget. In my mind one of its greatest advantage of the venue is that the widgets are easily removable and you end up with the stock android experience.
After coming from a N1, I have to say that having the extra on board memory is a relief. Its about 400mb which should keep you happy for sometime.
Have not had any problems with apps downloaded from the marketplace so far. I have about a 100 of them on my phone.
The stereo speakers are nice too. You can listen to music.
In many respects i think this is a sleeper phone. Dell should be advertising it a little bit more.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great phone and MID
by tatyanadix on April 6, 2011
Pros: Great screen (size, clarity, brightness); very comfortable size (not too small, not too large), snappy fast downloads and web surfing. One reviewer blame the phone for slow downloads form the Market. It is not due to the phone, but due to the Market being s
Cons: Power button is hard to use when you need to put the device to sleep or wake up. The problem was resolved when "dressed' it in Otter Box skin. The battery life could be better, but you can significantly extend it turning off WiFi , GPS (when not in use)
Summary: Absolutely love this phone. Use T-mobile network and love the freedom of no contract. It is a great, solid, powerful device.

Best Unlocked Android on the Planet
by rushmore40 on March 18, 2011
Pros: Gorgeous, solid, muscular build; beautiful screen, decent camera, Dell's Stage UI is actually good, especially the email widget, great call quality
Cons: So-so battery life

Am rating this 5 because I love this phone and want to balance out the previous negative review (would prob give it 4.5 if it wasn't for that). Dell is making some of the handsomest phones out there and backs it up with superb features and functionality. Their Stage widgets are very good, tho they all take up one complete screen. If they get this up to Gingerbread it will be the best on the market. Solid as a rock.

Not Ready for Corporate America
by fblazosky on March 11, 2011
Pros: This is a very nice looking phone and comfortable to use and hold in your hands. There are some nice features that set it apart from other androids.
Cons: poor performance results downloading from Android market both on Wifi and 3G. It was really slow downloading. This was something I did not experience using Inspire 4G + Desire A8181. Also the speaker is a bit weak .

Summary: I had great expectations for this Dell phone. But to be honest my Android experience has bee less-than-spectacular. I have found many aspects lacking in email support on Andriod (2.2). First, the Active-sync abilities are poor at best. Most users (me included) report that they have numerous problems with Exchange email sync. I personally have not been able (despite many attempts) to ever get a clean sync. Another issue is the lack of HTML support in email. if you like plain text email then you will like Android.
Could be an issue. We are still on exchange2003. But still I have never had problems for years on M4e on Nokia and IPhone. I would be good to check out the Ahdroidforums if you do not believe the numbers of complaints. Oh by the way I work for a large Finnish company that knows something's. About mobile phones. :-)
I have decided to go back to Iphone as the Active sync with Exchange works very well and the HTML features in email are very pleasant and similar to using your laptop to do email. By the way I have also attempted to try two other Androids after the Desire (Dell Venue and HTC Inspire 4G). Both are Android 2.2 phones and both has similar issues with email.
Bottom line...If you are needing Exchange support from your mobile phone you may want to skip Android.
