The good: Powerful parts, a lovely screen, stunning design, and an excellent camera help the Evo 4G LTE restoke the fires of the Evo faithful.
The bad: Given the 4G LTE in its name, the newest Evo's lack of Sprint LTE at launch is a huge letdown.

Awesome-I never thought my EVO could be surpassed
by bcolex on June 4, 2012
Pros: I don't care if it does 4G or not. My 3G speed with this device is lighting fast. Reviewer should forget about 4G as most people don't have it anyway. I did on my EVO here in San Antonio but never turned it on or needed to!
Cons: Spotty Sprint coverage in rural areas. They sent me an Airave for my house and it's great but sometimes there is a gap between towers in rural areas.

Summary: I still believe my original EVO kicks any iPhone into the toilet and this is even better. All of you people that continue to support the fruit company should be ashamed of yourselves. The i-toys are all made in China and butthead Jobs coulda, woulda, shoulda kept the jobs in the US and could have afforded too, except that he wanted to make a trillion dollars for himself and his stockholders and only would have made many billions if he had kept it here. Impressed with what he did with his intelligence, but he shoulda stayed American so screw his fruit company. The LTE is light years ahead of the latest i-toy phone and I just love the fact that Apple had the technology to make the phones they sell now a few years ago but suckereed many, many people into getting the latest, greatest toy and screwed them multiple times with no vaseline and they still have a toy that doesn't do it all, but could if they would quit offering additional generations....
On the other hand the iphones are easier to use which is always good if you keep your 6th grade mentality and can't handle the Android operating system.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

The best Android phone on the market!!
by volleyplay on May 28, 2012
Pros: Camera, Screen, Battery Life, Build Quality, Very fast processor, Call Reception.....
Cons: Nothing really. Okay it does not have a removable battery. I know why HTC could not make one is because the phone is very slim and with one it would make it very flimsy so that being said I would rather have the solid feel than a removable battery.

Summary: I got this phone on Friday on a pre-order from Best Buy. I had the original EVO 4G and loved that one. This new EVO is amazing! The screen is so crisp, clear and the viewing angles are incredible. I love the camera having a dedicated button on the phone helps and the way you can take unlimited shots and it will pick the best shot out of all of them. The build quality is one of the best phones I have every seen. It is very solid and feels good in you hands. HTC did a really a good job making this phone feel expensive. The phone I had before this one was a Samsung Galaxy S II and it was very cheap feeling and made. The Galaxy I was experiencing a lot of drop calls and the reception was very choppy. With the new EVO the reception is excellent and where most of my other phones would drop the call the EVO holds the call without any choppy sound voices. The battery life seem very good. I have got 18 hours out of first charge and that is with moderate use calls and texts. The second charge I got almost 24hrs out of it and I know it will only get better as time goes on. This phone processor is very quick and there is no lag time.
Ice Cream Sandwich seems to work well the Sense 4.0 and they work well together and I have not had any force close issues that I had experienced in the past. I understand why Apple tried to block the sale of these HTC phones they are going to sell a lot of these. I am Apple guy and have several Macbook Pros, Airs, iMac and Time Capsules and I would never own a iPhone because it very grade school level of technology and not that customizable as androids phones are. That being said when I need to purchase another Apple product I am going to re-considerate looking at another manufacture because of the problems Apple caused in the release of this phone.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Amazing phone with all the features people want.

Summary: I score this phone for what makes practical sense although I don't own it, but plan to. Everyone knows what features it has at this point and this is everything, I mean everything i want on a phone and then some. Am I bothered that SPRINT mares the release of the phone by now having it's LTE services up and running and most likely will charge us for it like we do? Of course! That's SPRINT! Shame on them. I'm bothered that Cnet scores this phone based on Sprints lack of LTE services being up and ready. Score the phone not the service together. You want to score Sprint alone, they get a single star from me. I will post a real review once I get it. But, on the surface, the seems to be a marvel of tech. Thank you, HTC

Summary: This is a textbook case of de-engineering of a great product. I loved my original EVO 4G, sturdy and highly functional, so when the time came to retire it, I looked forward to buying its new iteration, the LTE. The new version is a both a disappointment and a frequent source of frustration for me. Its ergonomics are terrible. Topping the list is the placement of the tiny microphone hole on the bottom of the phone, on the right side; exactly where your pinky finger is instinctively placed to support the phone. Result: I am very often obstructing the microphone and people cannot hear me. In the same vein: The speaker is at the back of the phone so if you want to use it, you have to lay down your phone face down and you won't see the screen anymore. The phone is elegant but nowhere as sturdy as its predecessor and borders with flimsiness. It is also very fragile. I dropped my original EVO a dozen times over the course of 3 years and its screen only gave up the last time. I dropped the LTE just once a month after getting it and that already produced a nice crack across the whole screen. It looks like the glass is very thin. Call quality is not great and the fact that you can no longer remove the battery to use a backup one is yet another serious drawback compared to the original EVO. The LTE is not a bad phone but it is definitely not the great phone that the original EVO was. This will most likely be my last HTC phone. I don't like the evolution of their engineering.

Overall good phone, but has some serious flaws
by MCAustin60 on March 10, 2013
Pros: Battery life, screen resolution, processor speed
Cons: HUGE phone - hard to hold
NO MENU BUTTON - many android application will have no access to setup parameters. Some android apps have added the ... menu icon, but not all
You cannot use kickstand with the charger plugged in - how stupid is that.Summary: If they could replace the "recent apps" button with the menu button, it would help a lot. The phone is also so huge it's hard to use. A phone ...
Summary: If they could replace the "recent apps" button with the menu button, it would help a lot. The phone is also so huge it's hard to use. A phone about 80% of the same size would be much more user friendly. I'll probably take this in and trade it for an iPhone 5 - but then I have to give up SWIPE - no win situation.

Absolutely LOVE this phone
by rhiamichelle on November 27, 2012
Pros: Everything! Big screen but super thin, awesome display & UI, great for my social networking, apps, & texting habits, camera is awesome.
Cons: Now that I actually can use 4G (I didn't know it was uncapable, & while they were fixing towers I lost ALL data connectivity in rural AND urban areas) the phone is faster than ever.
Summary: I had to buy a new phone at retail price because Samsung just sucks. Period. It was between this or the iPhone 4s (for $100 more). Everyone I know had ...
Summary: I had to buy a new phone at retail price because Samsung just sucks. Period. It was between this or the iPhone 4s (for $100 more). Everyone I know had an iPhone, so I was already pretty familiar with it. I ALMOST bought it. But I kept coming back to this phone. The LCD screen, how much BIGGER it was, how easy it was to use... so I chose it. & never regretted it. Even when my boyfriend brought home his new iPhone 5 while my Sprint data connectivity was COMPLETELY gone, I told him "My phone is still better. I love my phone."
It took a little bit to get used to. I had a Samsung with a slide out keyboard (makes video games MUCH easier). This thin little thing just felt like it would break if I put it down too hard. Nope. I dropped it from high places countless times, having a mini-heart attack each time I heard it hit the ground, but it was always fine.
Well, except for that last time. It fell out of my purse & the whole screen is shattered. Now my upgrade with Sprint is coming up, & I'm almost certain I'm sticking with the same phone. But I will definitely buy a case for it next time.
It's super fast, sleek, great for games, apps, videos, browsing, etc. It was worth the $550 plus extra charges. -
Awesome Device
by adamvmlv on September 22, 2012
Pros: This Phone has a big, bright screen that looks great under any lighting. It's very fast, has a great camera, feels well built and Sense is cool too.
Cons: There are no cons for this phone

Summary: This Evo is wonderful, screaming fast processor never lags, never have to shade the screen in direct sun. The images and text are sharp. The camera takes life like shots and does it quickly, even takes more than on in a second and suggests which one is the best. Even without LTE this is an amazing device. This is my first HTC and I'm very impresed
I have to agree that the reviewer should have based his review on the phone itself and not the network. In spite of Sprints rather unfortunate network, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this Evo. I'm going on my first month with this phone and I am more and more crazy about it every day. There is not one issue I have found wrong with this device. I rated it 5 stars, it deserves it. It's pure joy to use. My other half is getting one in 3 days and is excited!! Here's hoping HTC doesn't stiff us on jellybean!
Updated on Sep 30, 2012
Updated on Jan 8, 2013OMG we got Jelly Bean and I wonder if the EVO 4G LTE could get any more amazing. After 6 months with this EVO I couldn't imagine buying anything else! Not iPhone 5, not the GS3, nada, this phone is amazing!!! -
Very solid
by rickdt74 on September 19, 2012
Pros: The user interface is fantastic. Very intuitive, clean, and elegant. The kickstand is actually very useful. The camera and video capability rock on this thing. The physical build is high quality.
Cons: No removable battery! HTC shot themselves in the foot on this one. Although the battery is really great, if you are a heavy user (as I am) you're gonna need juice at some point in the day. I have no idea why HTC decided to cripple this one.

Summary: I actually bought the Galaxy SIII first and really, really wanted to like it for no other reason than the ability to swap the battery. I returned it after a week. First, it just felt cheap. I know most phones are made of plastic and I didn't think I'd care that much but it just felt like a low quality p.o.s. Second, the user interface (on Samsung it's called Touch Wiz) absolutely sucks compared to Sense. Again, I didn't think I'd care but just looking at the 2 dimensional icons and childish looking design made me feel like they didn't put the smallest amount of thought into the aesthetics. This actually affected the usability of the phone though. For instance, when dialing a number the keypad is so big that there is only enough room for one choice to pop up vs. four or five on the Evo. This makes a big difference if you have for instance several "Marks" in your phonebook. Evo, you type the first few letters and you have the four or five selections to choose from. Common sense thing and very convenient. Another thing I noticed was that when I imported my old numbers I somehow ended up with quadruple entries. There was no simple option to just delete duplicates! I was expected to go through manually and delete over 1000 entries. Evo on the other hand- bam- "delete duplicates?" button. Again, simple, common sense options which make a huge difference. Finally, the Samsung is big on bells and whistles (gestures) - they rarely worked. In short- Samsung = alot of hype, low payoff.
