The good: The HTC Evo Design 4G has an understated black-on-black design, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and two cameras, and is a world phone. It comes with 8GB of memory preinstalled.
The bad: The stubborn back cover is hard to remove and the speakerphone could be better. A dedicated hardware shutter button wouldn't go amiss.

Summary: When I first got this phone I loved it. I didn't have any of the problems with battery life or audio or photo quality folks had mentioned. But week by week this phone has just developed one minor problem after another! First, after every phone call the phone freezes unless you can get off the phone page quickly. Get to the text page or camera and it's fine. Otherwise you need to pull the battery and do a reboot or plug it into a charger. The ringer volume changes on it's own. One time it rings normally. Next time it just vibrates. Next time it makes no noise at all. Then the texting became a problem. You press on a name and it brings up a different name. You start typing a text and it just randomly changes the words. This isn't auto correct. Now, after 4 months, it's hard to unlock the phone. When I try and swipe the bubble upwards to unlock it the bubble just falls back to the bottom of the screen and the phones still locked. I've had to pull the battery to get it to start working correctly again. It's just one thing after another. And sure, they'll fix it, if you don't mind being without your phone for at least 2 weeks. I started having problems less than a month into ownership and Sprint couldn't care less. I had to return it within 14 days (I think) to just swap for a new one. So I'm stuck with this lemon and no convenient way to fix it. Just hoping it doesn't get much worse. I have 18 months left on the contract!

Great features, low quality
by mikec711 on November 20, 2011
Pros: Nice touch screen, relatively intuitive on most apps
Cons: Phone died (and others have had multiples die) in a few months. HTC was willing to replace it if I paid shipping and could do w/out a phone for 4 weeks, and if there was no sign of any wear on the phone. If you need your phone, look elsewhere.
Summary: Phone is flashy and fun ... but so was Windows 95. If you depend on your phone, get a more reliable phone.

What a deal, what a phone!
by glassman_24k on November 6, 2011
Pros: Call quality, camera/video, front facing camera, video chat, fast processor, light weight, but doesn't feel breakable, wonderful customization, touchscreen (missed that having a BB), screen resolution, mobile hotspot, 4G, world phone (if you travel that i
Cons: The only think that I don't like, (but not sure if it counts as a con) is the fact that getting the battery cover off is very hard BUT that can be helpful if you drop your phone, you don't have to worry about the battery, phone & battery cover all goi

Summary: Coming from a BB, this is one of the best choices of my life. I read a lot of reviews that said, compared to the EVO 4G, this phone doesn't compare. I don't know anything about this phone compared to other Android phones. All I know is that if you've never had an Android phone & are thinking about getting this one, don't hesitate. The EVO is EOL (end of line) & this phone is very user friendly & fun. Everybody always talks about battery life on ANY phone, but the truth about battery life is that it depends on what your doing with the phone. I'm constantly doing things with it & think I get good battery life considering I'm surfing, playing games (great screen resolution too) or uploading videos to youtube. If you get the phone & don't like it (you will know if you like it or not within the return dates), return it. I've been with Sprint for almost 10 years now & I've never had an incident or problem with them.
EVO 3D is EOL, not all EVO phones. Didn't catch that when I wrote it.

Great phone for the money - excellent camera/video!
by tjsmbama on November 5, 2011
Pros: Lightweight and thin compared to other HTC phones, 4" screen, fast processor, excellent camera and video - love the dual lens and price is great
Cons: Low Battery Life, Messaging can't be combined (emails, texts, etc) into one icon like Blackberry, Ringer and notifications cant be set individually without an added app and Sprints added data monthly fee
Summary: Coming from a blackberry I was concerned. It took a couple of days to adjust but now I'm hooked. I miss the messenging and sound management of the blackberry ...
Summary: Coming from a blackberry I was concerned. It took a couple of days to adjust but now I'm hooked. I miss the messenging and sound management of the blackberry but those are very overshadowed by the camera quality and performance. I'm in a 3G only area and this phone dances around the blackberry in speed! The apps available are great and the menus and screens are very user friendly.

Great bang for the buck!
by lyounadam on November 4, 2011
Pros: Quality design
Great processor...yes it's not dual core but you can live without it.
Under rated camera quality
Great call signal and quality
World phone
Tether capability
Everything I wanted in a much smaller package than the Epic 4GCons: Compared to the Epic the screen can use a bump up in color quality
Really haven't found much bad about the phone as of yet...Summary: Overall, a great phone with a snappy processor...1.2 GHZ without dual core capabilities is sufficient for a phone people...you don't need to reinvent the wheel here!...

Great price, size, features, call quality
by MissionChris on October 30, 2011
Pros: 1. Size. The 4" screen is the right size for me for 1 handed operation.
2. Call quality. I'm one of those old fashioned people who make phone calls and I've had no issues with hearing or being heard.
3. HTC Sense. I've had other Android phones and didn'Cons: 1. Sense 3.0, no timeframe on the upgrade to 3.5
2. Gingerbread, no timeline for upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich. Upgrade timing is a general problem with all Android phones.
3. Sprint's 4G tax. I get that Sprint need to pay for their network upgrade but anSummary: This phone does everything right at a great price.

The 2 main things that I need from a phone is that it has great call quality and I can use it with one hand and this phone delivers.
It being a world phone is a huge bonus for me. -
