NOT THAT HAPPY WITH THE EVO SHIFT
by atorres525 on April 12, 2011
Pros: SLEEK LOOKING PHONE
FULL KEYBOARD
GREAT CAMERA & VIDEO
LOTS OF APPS (BUT SO DID THE BLACKBERRY TOUR)Cons: BATTERY LIFE SUCKS TO THE POINT OF IT BEING REALLY ANNOYING
PHONE DOESN'T HAVE A GREAT SCREEN LOCK FOR BEING A TOUCH SCREEN. SOMETIMES IT WILL UNLOCK WHILE ON THE PHONE AS WELL AS IF IM PULLING IT OUT OF A POCKET RO PURSE SINCE THE SCREEN TELLS U TO SLIDSummary: OVERALL I SUPPOSIDELY UPGRADED FROM THE BLACKBERRY TOUR TO THE EVO SHIFT & I'M NOT HAPPY, THAT IM THINKING ABOUT GOING BACK.

Almost Right
by gusmc on January 19, 2011
Pros: Slide-out QWERTY keyboard with D pad. Smaller size than hulking EVO 4G and Samsung Epic. Familiar HTC Sense UI. Great Android 2.2 with speed comparable to EVO 4G. Good Bluetooth compatibility with Ford Sync.
Cons: HTC abandoned the tilt keyboard, which I loved. The QWERTY keyboard is very tight, with only three rows, and a little bit difficult to slide out.
Summary: This was my first Android phone, and has almost everything I need. I have been a loyal Sprint customer, and needed to deposit my WindowsMobile phone (HTC Touch Pro 2) ...
Summary: This was my first Android phone, and has almost everything I need. I have been a loyal Sprint customer, and needed to deposit my WindowsMobile phone (HTC Touch Pro 2) in the garbage. I actually wanted a phone less conspicuous than the EVO 4G and the Samsung Epic, and, right now, see no reason to pay $50-$75 more for a front-facing camera or HDMI connection. I understand the processor is not as fast as the big EVO or the Epic, but in my estimation (comparing the Shift to my colleage's big EVO), the processor seems fast enough for the real estate of this compact phone.
If anyone at HTC is listening, however, there are two features you all missed. First, the four-row, tilt keyboard of the HTC Touch Pro 2 was an amazing feature. Bring it back. Second, the HTC Touch Pro 2 automatically converted to a speaker phone when you flipped it over. This nifty feature is missing on the Shift.
With DoubleTwist from the Android Market, there is no reason you are forced to by an iPhone. I did replace the the standard 2GB SD card with an 8 GB card for more music and photos.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Good phone, if it would charge.
by slaghtjk on October 21, 2012
Pros: Two keyboard options is nice, good on speed, pretty sturdy.
Cons: Charging port wears out, pictures could be clearer.
Summary: I've had this phone for only a couple months and the charging port refuses to work. Also, the pictures are pretty fuzzy.

More Cons than Pros....
by athlete36 on February 16, 2012
Pros: Nice looking, nice "front"...
Successful deceptionCons: Touchscreen issues forever...Remember, Sprint customer service can be a "CON" also. Sprint insurance plan worthless IF they keep giving you the same defective device 4 times. Final Con, can lead to stress.
Summary: I have had to replace this phone 4 times and counting for the same touchscreen issue. It jumps around and does what it wants, makes calls, opens apps etc. But ...
Summary: I have had to replace this phone 4 times and counting for the same touchscreen issue. It jumps around and does what it wants, makes calls, opens apps etc. But that's before you even touch it. Once you actually pick it up from the trash can and try to use it, it picks a random place to go, for example, settings, sd & storage. This is far too advanced... Or maybe just a dream right? The Sprint customer service people said that I qualify for the Well Program where I can switch it out for a different phone like maybe the Samsung or a different HTC. So when I go to the store to swap it out, they tell me that the only phone I can swap it out for is the same EVO Shift. It was not April 1st, still February, so they were definitely serious. So it made me wonder, what is the point of the Well Program again?? So what type of craziness did I get myself into?? EVO Shift is still for sale......beware.....

Great Phone!
by WDesi on February 7, 2012
Pros: Very fast, this phone does about everything I need it to do for personal use.
Cons: The only thing I hate about this phone is the battery it goes dead so fast! I've tried battery savers turning off 4g and dimming the screen. Also after using an app or being online for a period of time the phone has to reset the screen and it takes a whil
Summary: With only two cons this phone is worth the money I love this phone and I've gone through quite a few! By far my favorite phone!

About what I expected...no more, no less
by ovg822 on November 27, 2011
Pros: Good video quality; nice camera features; nice camera images; Great for music
Cons: Poor battery life; ultra-sensitive touch screen; hard to navigate QWERTY slide-out keyboard; still have no clue what 4G is or does; tendency to lag/freeze if using bigger apps
Summary: This phone replaced a Blackberry...and I am happy. I am an app fiend, so I quickly filled up the memory. Easily remedied by inserting a 16G SD card. Now ...
Summary: This phone replaced a Blackberry...and I am happy. I am an app fiend, so I quickly filled up the memory. Easily remedied by inserting a 16G SD card. Now I have almost 3,000 songs plus apps on that card.
I cracked the glass slightly, but absolutely no affect on touchscreen performance. (Crack was 100% my fault...not a flaw of the phone).
I am not a big fan of sliders, but the slider was the less expensive option at the time. I barely use the slide-out, anyway.
I definitely recommend this phone. It is fun to use...great for media... -
User unfriendly, especially for texting and GPS.
by tonguetide on November 15, 2011
Pros: Looks pretty nice, keyboard is fine. Stays connected well. Clean, sharp screen.
Cons: Not intuitive and downright user unfriendly when it comes to text and map/GPS functionality. Adds extra steps to things that should flow much more naturally. Also requires two hands for texting.
Summary: I'm not a user of apps, a gamer or a big media watcher on my phone, so I can't speak to those things. I mainly want my cell ...
Summary: I'm not a user of apps, a gamer or a big media watcher on my phone, so I can't speak to those things. I mainly want my cell to be as efficient and fast as possible for calling, texting, mapping and email, and this is certainly not those things.
