The good: The HTC HD7S offers a sharper Super LCD touch screen with a built-in kickstand. The Windows Phone device ships with the NoDo update, which brings copy-and-paste and performance improvements.
The bad: There was a constant background hiss during phone calls. Camera quality could be better.
The bottom line: The HTC HD7S offers the benefit of a large touch screen with a sharp picture and fast performance, but it falls short of the smartphone competition in terms of camera and call quality.
Really good Windows Phone!!

Pros: Nice Screen
Good "sturdy" feel in the hand
Fast and Responsive
Cons: Big in the pocket
Screen smudges quickly
No universal inbox

Summary: My only real beef with this phone is that it doesn't have a global inbox for email. Having to have seperate tiles for each email can be quite overwhelming if you have multiple accounts. Also, Internet Explorer can be a litlle wonky at times. But overall it's a really nice change of pace for me and I'm completely satisfied. Just an FYI I had been an iPhone user since launch but was looking for something new since I'd become bored with that OS and also have an iPad. Hope this is helpful!!

Perfect for me.
by NeroVauguan on June 8, 2012
Pros: Huge, vibrant screen.
Operating system (7.5 Mango) works, looks, and runs beautifully.
Kickstand is so neat, gets 'Ooohs and Ahhs' wherever I go.
Cons: Call quality is bad. There is a constant static hiss in the background.
Camera takes terrible low-light photos.
Touch sensitive keys easy to hit accidentally.
Speaker is in an odd location by the camera, quality is tinny and cheap sounding.

Summary: Wonderful phone! I traded my iPhone 4S to my sister for this phone, she didn't like it and I felt like I needed a change. Boy, did I make the best decision! This phone works and operates swimmingly, I love the live tiles and the people hub. The kickstand is the most unique and quirky feature I have ever seen on a phone and it really impresses people when they see it. The screen is incredible and to me is just as clear as the retina display on my old phone. My only issues are the call quality (there is a static-y noise always in the background when talking on the phone), the camera (low-light and photos taken indoors are very grainy and dark), and the speaker (the location of it is just weird, I guess I was used to my iPhone's being on the bottom, and it sounds very tinny and cheap).
It's awesome,it's the best phone I've ever had !

Pros: ITS AN HTC
large 4.3 inch screen
super LCD display
windows 7.5 (mango update)
easy to text on
Cons: sometimes, there is a slight hissing during calls, but if you use earphones you won't hear it.
Summary: You will love it, it has does everything you want and need in a phone

Good phone, great OS
by delirious467 on October 8, 2011
Pros: Screen size and quality, kickstand, WP7, the feel of it in hand, thin, on-screen keyboard
Cons: Hardware keys bit tough to press, camera not so good in low light, flash doesnt help much. But none of that is a deal breaker.

Summary: My girlfriend had gotten the HD7 from Tmo, and i fell in love with it, and wanted it for ATT. I was using android at the time, which i was fairly happy with. Then i found out it was coming to ATT, with improvements!
I read some of the other reviews and agreed and disagreed with some. The hissing noise i honestly dont even notice unless i listen hard.. I thought all phones had that?
The OS is by far my favorite among the others, better than iOS and Android. Tiles, Hubs and the integration makes things a lot easier. The on-screen keyboard in wp7 is phenomenal, so easy to use.
Still waiting for mango update, apparently its one the last devices to receive the update this fall, oh well..
Overall i really like this device, and plan to keep it for a long time. My girlfriends hd7 has had a few problems lately, hopefully its not the same with the hd7s.
Great OS, but audio issues forced a return
by holyground on September 20, 2011
Pros: 4.3 inch screen mean slightly larger live tiles
Form factor was smooth and well built--equal to HTC standards
OS provided deep integration between work life and home life
Cons: Dim screen compared to Samsung Focus
No custom ringtones(resolved when mango releases)
Feedback from microphone through earpiece (see below

Summary: I really wanted to like the HD7S. I had done some research, and I knew there was a hissing issue but felt I could live with it. I was switching from a Samsung Captivate, and my wife already has the Samsung Focus, so I could compare easily. Since we were staying with ATT (we actually have a good sales rep in the store near us and his service is why we stayed), when I lost my captivate I decided to switch to WP7 for a variety of reasons.
I really wanted the Titan, which doesn't even have a release sheet yet, so I went for the HD7S. I don't use the talking portion much, so I just set up all the social media and work email stuff and was chugging along happily for a week. Then my father called me.
When I placed the phone against my face, like I do for all phone calls, a high-pitched, extremely loud screech emanated from the earpiece. I could not talk on the phone without resorting to using a headset. Thinking it was just a problem with my particular phone I went to the ATT store to replace it. I had only had the phone for 7 days.
I was able to replicate the sound with my hand on demand. You could hear throughout the store By holding my hand parallel to the earpiece and microphone, I could cause a feedback loop like they sometimes get on stage at a concert. I did it with my hand because it was so loud I had problems hearing for a bit. The poor rep tried it on his ear and said he had ringing in it 10 minutes later when we were swapping out for a new HD7S. After the swap I made a test phone call and was able to replicate it immediately. I REALLY wanted to like this phone, and I just couldn't put up with the feeback. The reps were surprised (including the manager in the back, who came out swiftly when I demonstrated the volume of the feedback.
Test the phone yourself. It may have just been a bad batch, but they were the only two copies of the HD7S they had. I have large hands and was able to replicate it by curving my hand slightly so my figers were over the mouthpiece and my palm was over the microphone, but not covering it completely.
Otherwise, it was a great PMP.
Best OS out there. The tiles are slick and useful.
by glippold on August 25, 2011
Pros: OS is awesome. Bing is so witty and voice activation is great. Love the Tiles and hubs...really smart. The phone actually works! For the PC user this phone rules. Very simple, beautiful and intelligent 'smart' phone.
Cons: Not crazy about the camera. In sunlight it is great but the flash 'blues' out photos. Images don't materialize in email when sent. Battery life is crazy...but I bought an extra battery online for not too much. Honestly I have never used it yet...alway

Summary: If this phone had an apple on it people would love it. Not perfect but so user friendly and fast. Beautiful OS and just a great phone...not perfect and needs a few tweeks. I think the new Mango OS is going to be the tweak it needs. I traded my iphone for this and like it so much better...except the camera. iphone's camera is very good. This phone is for the PC user. My partner has an android phone and it is cool but really can't compete with this phone unless you are an app freak. Apps still leave a lot to be desired. I don't use apps. I did on the iphone because it was new but at this point in my 'real' life the only apps I use are money converter, flashlight, calculator and Calendar. That is it...oh yes...a singing bowl app that is sooooo cool.
Terrible audio quality, but otherwise excellent phone
by dbjoiner on July 23, 2011
Pros: Nice screen size.
Cons: Terrible audio quality. Background hiss when making phone calls, which sometimes leads to loud high-pitched audio feedback blasting in your ear. This is definitely a deal-breaker. Do not buy this phone unless HTC solves the problem.
Summary: If it were not for the audio hiss and feedback, I would love this phone. But, as is, I cannot recommend this to anybody since it cannot serve the most ...

Great OS not so great phone

Summary: Windows Phone OS is great. This phone does not have the quailty i was hoping for. The phone feels good and is really fast. But the call quality is just BAD the hissing never stops. The phone's antenna is sub par 2 bars on IPhone no service on HD7s. The camera is slow and pictures look like they were taken with a old flip phone. Not sure yet if this will be my IPhone replacement. Two weeks of using and its going back. The battery life is just bad the phone takes hours to charge. The camera is nearly unusable unless you have a perfectly still object and hands that are completely still. The constant hissing and feedback when talking on the phone makes using it miserable. I'll be going back to the IPhone till a better handset comes out. The Windows Phone software works great this phone just doesn't live up to it.
