HTC Inspire 4G - black (AT&T) price range: $245.50

The good: The HTC Inspire 4G is affordably priced and boasts a large display. The Android 2.2 smartphone runs on AT&T's HSPA+ network and offers mobile hot-spot capabilities. New HTC Sense provides faster boot time and other enhancements. It also has an 8-megapixel camera that takes excellent photos.
The bad: The smartphone is rather large and heavy, and the battery cover is difficult to remove. We didn't experience great 4G speeds. AT&T blocks third-party apps. Lacks a front-facing camera.
The bottom line: Though dual-core phones are on the way, the HTC Inspire 4G stands as one of AT&T's best, high-end Android devices and is an incredible value.

A totally incredible phone!!!
by pauliecanes on August 8, 2011
Pros: There are not enough words to describe this phone. I am a former IPhone user. I thought there was not a cellphone available that could beat out the iPhone. Well I was wrong. The HTC Inspire 4G is the most incredible cellphone on the market! The price was
Cons: None. Absolutely none! You are getting one of the best Android phones on the market! It has no flaws. It is a phone that will last a very long time and it is way ahead of its competitors!! Buy the phone folks!! Do not think twice. I do not work for HTC or

Summary: All in all, I paid $64.00 for a $500 phone. It picks up Wi-Fi Hot Spots at fast speeds. It is the fastest 4G phone on the market in my eyes. The SD card that comes with the phone is 8GB. If you have a Universal Media Reader, I need one because I have a MacBook that does not have an SD slot, it is a blessing. File transfers are easy. there are plenty of apps to move songs, podcasts and other media from ITunes to the HTC Inspire. The speaker is loud and the various ringtones are a huge plus. Hey all I can say is that this cellphone is hotter than any cellphone on the market. Buy it, don't think twice. Buy any HTC phone, but the Inspire 4G is the one!! Like I said before, anyone who says this phone is overrated is totally out of their mind and need a psych evaluation!!! I have had many cellphones, from the original Motorola brick phone from "Cellular One" to Nextel's.....the technology has advanced beyond belief, especially the HTC Inspire 4G!!

Pretty cool!
by trangler2 on March 6, 2011
Pros: The battery door is really simple to open. It SWINGS OPEN, dummies. READ THE INCLUDED INSTRUCTIONS!
Coming from a Blackberry, I find this phone amazing. Incredible capabilities, big touch screen, and lots of fun.Cons: Battery life truly blows. Needs to be charged daily at least.
I am continually turning the device volume down just handling it. Bad design.
Won't connect to my old Blackberry using Bluetooth.
Not compatible with AT&T's new LTE network.Summary: Go for it, or wait a few months for the new models...or just then wait a few months for the ones after them...or keep what ya got.

Ok phone, poor speaker volume, 3rd party apps blocked.
by burnedman9000 on February 21, 2011
Pros: Very very nice design, with the unibody aluminum body, it is nice phone to hold in your hand. Sense 2.0 on the inspire 4g is also a pleasure to use. OS is very zippy, and I have encountered no lag at all. good call volume, loud and clear!
Cons: Poor battery life(why didnt they make it bigger??) External speaker volume is too low, and I work in a kind of loud environment, so not good for me. Camera is sub-par(even though I have heard it was improved over the evo's.)
Summary: This phone is basically a HTC Desire HD for AT&T. Simple enough? It is a very well built device, and offers many feartures on a android phone that ...
Summary: This phone is basically a HTC Desire HD for AT&T. Simple enough? It is a very well built device, and offers many feartures on a android phone that people have been wating for. Unfortunatly it falls short on battery life, speaker volume/quality and the usual AT&T blocking of 3rd party apps. I was hoping to buy this phone to hold me over until next year when I could switch to verizon without paying an ETF, but it looks like I will get the thunderbolt instead.
For those looking for a rugged case the Otterbox defender for the HTC Desire HD is a perfect fit(remember it is the exact same phone) - if you can find one! ALso you may want to consider an extended battery, which is easy to find on amazon as well, and again batteries which fit the above said phone will also fit the inspire.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great, Easy to Use Android Phone
by dcdenonda on February 15, 2011

Summary: Great big screen for playing games and watching movies. Its a very intelligent phone, because it knows when its in your pocket or purse because it will ring louder than normal, and then when u grab it, before u answer it, the accelerometer will lower the ring because it knows that u have it in your hand. Also is has the feature that it is sitting on the desk and it rings, just flip the phone over and the ringer goes silent! Very fast loading of apps and the screens are very smooth when you switch from one to another. I have it as a work phone, but I wish I could use it as my personal phone!

Could have been better
by op134 on February 14, 2011
Pros: The phone has a large screen, great call quality through the ear piece, and plenty of RAM so you can have a lot of programs open at one time.
Cons: The camera is Horrible. And that's with a capital H! In the perfect conditions with no movement it can take a decent picture but let's get real when is the last time you put your phone on a tripod to use it. Also the loud speaker is weak.

Summary: I ran out and purchased this phone the first day it was out. I was very excited because I was looking for an affordable phone that I could play with flashing different roms and kernels. The phone build is great. It's nice and solid, not cheap feeling at all. The screen is descent its not amoled but has good resolution and brightness though colors can looked washed out. The inspire uses a 1gh processor and has a little over 700MB of RAM making the phone quite snappy. I never felt like I had to wait for anything to open. The browser is very smooth to scroll even before the page finishes loading and surprisingly it was very smooth with heavy flash pages. I felt like call quality was great using the standard ear piece. People were loud and very clear with no background noise or static at all. The speaker on the back of the phone is another storey. The sound quality is awful and the speaker does not get near loud enough. And even when you did turn the volume up the speaker would make nasty pops and hissed. Lastly the camera is what made me return this phone. If you are using the camera in the perfect conditions with good lighting and no vibration you get ok photos. But otherwise the photos are very blurry and the colors are washed out. I used the camera for Valentine photos and I felt like not a single photo was acceptable. My wife used her Samsung captivate and the photos were stunning in comparison. As for the battery door I didn't have near the trouble that everyone else has. The door is not designed to pull off like everyone has done on the review videos. If you push your thumb nail between the phone and the door to separate the two pieces and then pull. The door comes right off. Anyways had the camera been better I could have ignored the other flaws. So if your looking for an affordable, fast, large phone with no camera or speaker then this is great.

by jake061698 on February 22, 2013

Cons: Its to bulky and isnt really that fast. It also freezes a lot.

Summary: I was looking forward to my first smart phone. I was very disappointed after all the great reviews. This phone crashes at least once a week. My mother has the same phone and has the same issues as me. The battery is really hard to access. I've chipped the paint before getting to it. It sucks. The reception isn't too bad with my phone, though my mom's is terrible. Drops calls constantly.
The battery is the worst I have ever seen. If I play a game for 20-30 minutes, the battery ends up under 50%. If I use navigation for 2 hours (not looking at the screen and having the screen off), then it dies. I constantly have to have this thing plugged in, unless I don't mind risking it dying while I'm out during the day. It's a hassle and sucks.
The reboot time is ridiculous. It takes over 5 minutes to turn on! The apps freeze often and you have to take the battery out to restart it. The drop-down menu will get stuck in the middle of the screen a lot and won't go back up until you take the battery out. My volume button stopped working before I even had the phone a year. So I got a new phone within the FIRST day, then another new one 2 weeks later, and another new one two months after that.
Finally, I'm giving up. I will definitely be switching phones once my contract is up. I HATE this phone. It had so much potential that it did not meet.
My main issue is that they put too big of software and the phone cannot handle it. If they would work on the phone freezing/crashing, and the battery life. This phone would be awesome. It IS fast when it's not freezing. It has a ton of memory. The camera is amazing quality.
The only other thing that annoys me is the voice-to-text. It doesn't work. I can say something very clearly, and it gets half the words wrong. Now, I can't even use it at all. It just sits there. Like it doesn't hear anything, despite people hearing me fine on the phone. So I don't bother to use this anymore. It sucks.
I would advise against this phone. It's just one hassle after another.
